Glenn Maxwell - The Best Cricketer of the Week

Only the five players in action this week so will only do a Weekly Top 3 before I do a full run down of the top ten on New Year's Eve.

Weekly Top 3

1. Glenn Maxwell - 161 - Maxwell's late year surge has been a sight to behold. He has won Cricketer of the Week in three of the last four weeks. It is worth noting that this week's score is the fourth lowest winning score since we started these posts.

2. Martin Guptill - 80 - Guptill has yet to return to his pre-Lockdown form but two average scores in the final two T20s against Pakistan is enough to see him finish second for the week and move into 13th overall.

3. Jason Holder - 69 -  By no means is he at IPL standard - but a solid introduction to the BBL sees him finish third for the week.

Overall Top 5

1. Babar Azam - 3082 - Injury has precluded Babar from stretching his lead at the top any further but short of some sort of momentous score below him Azam will be the champion of 2020.

2. Ben Stokes - 2955 - Three weeks without playing and still 442 points ahead of third place. Ben Stokes will finish the year second in the tightest run in we have seen on these lists.

3. Jason Holder - 2513 - Modest BBL returns and a disappointing series against New Zealand has not stopped the inexorable march of Holder. He graces the top 3 for the first time in 15 weeks.

4. Joe Root - 2512 - How Root will rue that cancelled ODI leg against South Africa. After spending 20 weeks in the top 3, Root drops to fourth with just 4 days of 2020 left.

5. Glenn Maxwell - 2426 - One of cricket's most likeable figures gets his just reward for some great cricket over the last month. Six weeks ago, Maxwell was 12th but he has leapt up the list when it matters most.
