Simon Harmer - The Best Cricketer of the Week

 Weekly Top 5

1. Simon Harmer - 424 - Scores the third highest score of the year - meaning he now makes up 3 of the Top 5 scores of the year. Ends his hugely profligate period of the year with his 6th Cricketer of the Week; nobody else has more than 4.

2. Shubman Gill - 298 - 2 big scores sees Gill in good touch pre his World Cup commitments. 298 would have seen you win Cricketer of the Week in all but 13 weeks of this year.

3. David Warner - 281 - Warner making steady improvement sin his scores this week. First came 52 with 10 SR points then 52 with 20 SR points and then 56 with 30 SR. Sequence fans will be looking for a 56 at 200+ SR.

4. Suryakumar Yadav - 260 - Giving the Indian selectors a bit of a headache by showing what he is capable of in India's second strings series against Australia. He moves up two places to 11th overall.

5. Ravindra Jadeja - 181 - A fairly decent score but, knowing what Jadeja seems capable of, 181 split across 3 ODIs seems a bit underwhelming.

Overall

1. Simon Harmer - 4432 - Moves up to top spot again.....but only 132 points separates him from 2nd. hard to see if he will now go back home and turn out for the Warriors but it feels like Harmer will not win Cricketer of the Year this time out.

2. Shakib Al Hasan - 4300 - Inactive this week and loses top spot. He is the second highest One Day point scorer though so might use the World Cup to move back into pole position.

3. Shubman Gill - 4184 - Second place for the week and up one place to 3rd. Has just 16 points on fourth place but is in electric form with a plethora of games on the horizon.

4. Jos Buttler - 4168 - Inactive this week and down TWO places. That Top 4 is looking very fluis at the moment though so could be anywhere by the end of the World Cup.

5. Ravindra Jadeja - 3557 - Jadeja bloody loves 5th spot. Spent 11 straight weeks there and another 4 dotted across the year. he is back there once more but is a long long way away from 4th.

Other Mover

Cummins returns from his eight week leave of absence and takes back 18th place.

Ones To Watch

The smallest gap this week is between Gill and Buttler in third and fourth. Excitingly they play each other in a World Cup Warm Up on Saturday.

Top 3 Averages

1. Simon Harmer - 184.67
2. Shakib Al Hasan - 165.38
3. Shubman Gill - 154.96

Marco Jansen - The Best Cricketer of the Week

Weekly Top 5

1. Marco Jansen - 257 - Showing some 50 over prowess just before the World Cup. Becomes the 63rd individual Cricketer of the Week from the last 5 years. Will hope to not be done and done like his fellow countrymen De Villiers and Duminy.

2. Shubman Gill - 208 - Seemed to underwhelm in the Asia Cup but somehow find himself as the tournament's leading run scorer - largely thanks to 122 in a dead rubber against Bangladesh. Can he finish the IPL, the Asia Cup and the World Cup as highest run scorer across the board.

3. Shakib Al Hasan - 150 - 80 in a dead rubber sounds a bit worse than 80 against India but he still manages to round off a decent Asia Cup with a Top 3 finish for the week.

4. Moeen Ali - 133 - Has all of a sudden turned into an ODI Wicket Taking machine. He has found himself in the Top 5 for successive weeks for the first time in 2023.

5. Hardik Pandya - 110 - Some extraordinary figures from Pandya in the final of the Asia Cup sees him scrape into the Top 5 for the week. You feel like 3/3 in an ODI should be worth more than that.

Overall

1. Shakib Al Hasan - 4300 - A fairly decent Asia Cup showing has kept Shakib Al Hasan in top spot for yet another week. Zero scoreboard pressure from below helped.

2. Jos Buttler - 4168 - Only 76 points this week but enough to keep hold of second spot. If he weaves his white ball spell over the World Cup who knows where he could finish this year.

3. Simon Harmer - 4008 - His game against Hampshire did not finish in time for his points to register this week but is due some big points.

4. Shubman Gill - 208 - Third place for the week and holds fourth place for the fourth consecutive week. The gap between him and fifth is the 3rd largest of any position on our list.

5. Sam Curran - 3540 - Just 70 points this week but was helped with little signs of life from places 6 to 9. Needs a decent World Cup though.

Other Mover

Cam Green overhauled his Aussie compatriot Usman Khawaja to move into 16th.

Top 3 Averages

1. Simon Harmer - 174.26
2. Shakib Al Hasan - 165.38 (Down from 166)
3. Ravindra Jadeja - 153.45 (Down from 158.52)

Bairstow's yo-yo Summer continues as his average drops by 5.76 to 93.53. Jansen's Weekly Winning score sees his average move up to 103.22 - an improvement of 6.99.

Jos Buttler - The Best Cricketer of the Week

 Weekly Top 5

1. Jos Buttler - 310 - Is working his way into form just in time for the World Cup. Can't imagine too many bowlers are looking forward to facing up against him in India. Hard to believe this is only the 6th time he has won COTW in his 3 years in the game.

2. David Warner - 284 - Every dog has his day....and this dog has been waiting a little while to have a day but a century and a half century in the same week bags him second place.... he also moves up two places overall to 15th.

3. Devon Conway - 194 - Underwhelmed in the T20 series but has done rather better in the ODIs. 111 in the first outing followed by increasingly less impressive performances. Has spent 13 weeks in 8th place overall but is a mere 32 points behind Jadeja going into next week.

4. Shubman Gill - 147 - A half century against Pakistan in the Two Day International plus a punchy 19 vs Sri Lanka puts Gill in average territory for the week.

5. Moeen Ali - 145 - Much favours the 50 over game and the switch in format sees a corresponding improvement in his score. Could be a bolter in the World Cup. Has moved up into the Top 10 and could make a late year sprint.

Overall List

1. Shakib Al Hasan - 4150 - Did not takes seize the chance to put a big gap on the chasing pack this week with a total of 33 points.....but here he is at first still. No player has held first place for longer this year.

2. Jos Buttler - 4092 - Buttler has spurting up the list intermittently throughout the late English Summer. He has finally moved back up to second....and it is not beyond the realms of possibility he could add to his tenure in top spot by next week's update.

3. Simon Harmer - 4008 - Harmer takes a red ball break and slips down to third, his lowest position in seven weeks. Harmer was our 2018 and 2022 Cricketer of the Year....but you feel like this might not be his destiny this year.

4. Shubman Gill - 3678 - First for the week and holds fourth Overall...and you feel he might be there for a while. He has 330 points between him and 3rd and 208 points between him and 5th. The Indian batter seems very insulated right now.

5. Sam Curran - 3470 - A modest outcome of 115 points this week, but Curran still manages to capitalise in Rashid's inactivity to return to 5th place after a single week away.

Other Mover

Hardik Pandya got 105 points from two ODIs this week and move sup a place to 11th.

Top 3 Averages

1. Simon Harmer - 174.26
2. Shakib Al Hasan - 166 (Down from 171.54)
3. Ravindra Jadeja - 158.52 (Down from 162. 25)

The Asia Cup has not done much for Shakib's average as it continues to tumble - this week by 5.54 points. Warner's lowly average of 75.38 got a boost up to 82.14 this week.

Simon Harmer - The Best Cricketer of the Week

Busy one this week as all but 4 of our 20 players in action.

Weekly Top 5

1. Simon Harmer - 276 - Back in red ball action again this week and back at the top of the table. Only one wicket in his first innings but a fivefer gave him 130 points to bag his 5th Cricketer of the Week award - nobody has more.

2. Jonny Bairstow - 269- Bairstow's pattern of good week-bad week continues. His last month has seen him with weekly scores of 3, then 124, then 4 and now 269 for his highest placing of the year.

3. Shakib Al Hasan - 175 - Another good week for Shakib and another 3 Asia Cup games to come. His 53 against Pakistan was the highlight of the week.

4. Rashid Khan - 171 - Rashid hasn't been too prolific with this bat but produced two impactful scores of 20+ this week which bolstered the fact he only got two wickets. Despite that his Asia Cup is now done. Seemingly no cricket for him until the World Cup warm-ups.

5. Harry Brook - 149 - This weeks 'One good Performance Gets You In The Top 5' nominee. Started the week well....got into the ODI World Cup squad....then done rather poorer.

Overall Top 5

1. Shakib Al Hasan - 4117 - Finished second to Harmer for the week but manages to hold on to first nonetheless. Elimination from the Asia Cup would have seen him lose top spot but the battle still rages on. he has now equalled Gill's record of 15 weeks at number 1.

2. Simon Harmer - 4008 - Top of the pops for the week but still cannot add to his solitary week at the top of the overall table. Has an inactive week next week.

3. Jos Buttler - 3782 - Three weeks in the Top 3. Lots of cricket on the horizon. No real pressure from below. Lovely stuff from Jos.

4. Shubman Gill - 3531 - A reasonably modest score from Gill this week but manages to hold 4th place for the third week in a row.

5. Rashid Khan - 3413 - A month out of the Top 5 but Rashid is back. last time he only stayed for a week and you would suspect his tenancy will be shortlived once more with no cricket on the horizon for him and Curran 58 points behind.

Ones To Watch

Cam Green should also be on the move should he shake off his concussion.

Other Movers

Moeen goes up another spot to 10th despire another set of underwhelming scores. Bairstow is also off bottom spot in a heart warming moment for people who break legs playing golf.

Top 3 Averages

1. Simon Harmer - 174.26 (Up from 169.64)
2. Shakib Al Hasan - 171.54 (Up from 171.39)
3. Ravindra Jadeja - 162. 25 (Down from 165)

Last week Azam achieved the biggest gain in average whilst Bairstow experienced the biggest drop. This was reversed this week with Azam down 6.41 to 138.75 with Bairstow up 13 to 104.92.

Phil Salt - The Best Cricketer of the Week

The fifth highest week for point scoring with 9 triple figure scores. Last week's highest score would see you finishing 5th this week....
