Rachin Ravindra - The Best Cricketer of the Week

Weekly Top 5

1. Rachin Ravindra - 223 - I think it's time we face it up and say we have a bit of a superstar on our hands. Proving his worth in every format. This is his third Cricketer of the Week aware - the same amount as Babar Azam has.

2. Virat Kohli - 188 - Has taken no time at all to get back into the swing of things. Despite being away from action for 2 months, all it takes is one big score and he leaps up out of bottom spot on the Overall List.

3. Sam Curran - 176 - Had failed to impress so far in 2024 but knows what stage he needs to turn it on for. This is his highest score of the year so far, largely courtesy of a half century against Delhi.

4. Travis Head - 122 - Whilst every other IPL contributor's scores have come from two games, Head's comes from that world record game against Mumbai on Wednesday. Should be a mainstay for the rest of the tournament after that.

5. Aaron Hardie - 107 - Finishes the Sheffield Shield season with a score of 100+ - however, after having been withdrawn from his contract with Surrey, this might be his last score for a little while.

Overall List

1. Babar Azam - 1901 - The first of his indeterminate inactive weeks and his lead on second place drops from 717 points to 638.

2. Rachin Ravindra - 1263 - Bursts up the list from 4th to 2nd. Is very much the focal point for the chasing pack of IPL superstars chasing down top spot.

3. Yashasvi Jaiswal - 1254 - An understated start to the IPL season for Indian's latest poster boy. Lots more to play for but he remains third for the sixth week in a row.

4. James Vince - 1184 - Biding his time before the start of the County Championship season. Drops 2 spots to 4th.

5. Ravindra Jadeja - 1014 - Does just enough to keep himself in his beloved 5th spot for a 4th consecutive week. Has a 121 point lead over Mitchell Marsh.

Other Movers

Mitchell Marsh finished in 6th place for the week and moves up one place overall to be just outside the Top 5. Weirdly, Chamari Athapaththu gets the worst score of the week (21) but still moves up a place to 9th.

Ones to Watch

The tale of the IPL flops is playing out between 7th and 8th place. Glenn Maxwell has scored 52 points across his two games whilst buttler has scored 42. There is just one point between them on Friday afternoon.

Top 3 Average Points per Active Week

1. Babar Azam - 190.2
2. Ravindra Jadeja - 169 (Down from 196.4)
3. Jos Buttler - 168 (Down from 199.5)

Jos Buttler drops the most - down 31.5 - but still in our overall Top 3. Virat Kohli improves the most up a huge 38.17 points to 111.67.

Rashid Khan - The Best Cricketer of the Week

Weekly

1. Rashid Khan - 269 - It has been a long time coming but Rashid Khan has finally put on a big ol' score and tops the charts. You have to go back to the last week of 2019 to find the last time he was weekly high scorer.

=2. Suryakumar Yadav = 180 = In the IPL everything is hyperbole.....however, SKY's huge innings against Gujarat last Friday will live long in the memory and contributes to the bulk of his score for this week. Up to 10th overall.

=2. David Warner = 180 = Unlike his joint silver medalist Suryakumar, Warner got his score of 180 with two very solid performances. One a shade over 50 and one a shade under. Is very much the focal point of this misfiring Delhi team.

4. Shubman Gill = 167 = One great score and one pretty poor one sees him into fourth spot on a week where he could have ended up in pole position if he'd even scored just 20 against Mumbai.

5. Simon Harmer - 143 - Another OK score....Another slight rise up the table; 15th to 13th. But we're still waiting for the Harmer of old to return.

Overall

1. Shakib Al Hasan - 2601 - Bit of a shocker for Shakib. His first ODI was rained out, in the second he was ineffective and then got injured. Out for 6 weeks and with a lead of just 155 on 2nd, we will have a new leader at some point before the end of the month.

2. Shubman Gill - 2446 - Gill's return to second place marks his highest point for 3 months. 3 months and one week ago he was 1st...can he get back their once more?

3. Rashid Khan - 2425 - Rashid moves up to 3rd place again. He has not managed to get higher than that this year but has a gap of just 21 points on second. All to play for this week.

4. Jos Buttler = 2343 = A couple of destructive ducks has knocked Buttler off his 2nd place perch. After being 1st or 2nd for the last 15 weeks he now has the ignominy to be in fourth spot.

5. Ravindra Jadeja - 2118 - In a turbulent week for the Top 5, one mainstay....stayed.....mainly. Jadeja has been in 5th place for 2 months and not even a weekly score of just 40 could get anyone anywhere near him.

Ones To Watch

Two IPL stars this week; one with greatly improved form....one who has been on the disappointing end of average. Just 9 points separate Mumbai's SKY and Punjab's Curran in 10th and 11th. A big week for either is needed to keep their top ten berth.

Top 3 Averages

1. Shakib Al Hasan - 185.79 (Down from 197.31)
2. Shubman Gill 163.07 (Up from 162.79)
3. Ravindra Jadeja = 162.92 (Down from 173.17)

Rashid Khan is the most improved this week - up 7.78 to 121.25. Jadeja has been a mainstay in the average points per week chart but needs to watch out. Down by 11.55 this week, Jos Buttler could overtake him as soon as today.

Shubman Gill - The Best Cricketer of the Week

Weekly Top 5

1. Shubman Gill - 200 - Seems easy to forget but at the start of the year, Gill was in amazing form and he has carried this into the IPL. He had his best week of the season so far with a 130 runs across 2 games and his 2nd Cricketer of the Week accolade.

2. Suryakumar Yadav - 189 - This is his third week in the Top 5 in a row and we're starting to see the ol' 'Best White Ball Batter in the World' label being bandied around again. He still lags behind Buttler and Shakib in terms of batters in T20 points for us but is looking good.

3. Simon Harmer - 183 - Not able to really burst into life because of the early season conditions but is doing his standard work very well. He plays. He scores 100+. He moves up a place. He is now 15th overall.

4. Hardik Pandya - 164 - 70 of Hardik's 164 points came from Stike Rate alone. Is the ultimate pinch hitter in the IPL and is moving back up the table. he is up a place to 8th overall.

5. Jos Buttler - 163 - Frustratingly inconsistent this year. 95 against Hyderabad and then a duck against Kolkata. To nearly score a century at a 150+ Strike Rate and finish the week with 4 people above you is a shocker of a week.

Overall

We now have the same Top 5 for a full calendar month - a very early point of the year for this level of inertia to kick in. But the lack of fluidity goes even further than that.

Shakib in first has been Number 1 for 8 weeks in a row, beating Gill's previous record of 6. This is even more impressive as he has not played for a calendar month.

Buttler has been 2nd for 63% of the year with no other cricketer taking that place for longer than 3 weeks.

Gill has been in 3rd spot for 7 weeks overall. Either he or Shakib have taken 3rd spot in all but 4 weeks of the year.

4th is the most variable spot out of that Top 5 with 8 different people there at some point in the year. Rashid has held it for a month but he has been bouncing around 3rd, 4th and 5th since he entered the Top 5 in Week 11.

Jadeja's stay in 5th is the second longest run of any Cricketer in the List - Shakib's spell in first beats him by a week.

The Top 5 in full are:

1 Shakib Al Hasan 2565
2 Jos Buttler 2343
3 Shubman Gill 2279
4 Rashid Khan 2156
5 Ravindra Jadeja 2078

Other Movers

David Warner is a victim of failure around him as he manages to move up a spot despite scoring only 82 points this week. He replaces Cameron Green in 16th, which brings us to....

Ones To Watch

It is the battle of the underperforming Aussies this week as there is only 7 points between Delhi's Warner and Mumbai's Green. Very different players at different ends of their careers; both are capable of big things but both equally sporadic this season.

Top 3 Averages

1. Shakib Al Hasan - 197.31
2. Ravindra Jadeja = 173.17 ( Down from 177.9)
3. Jos Buttler = 167.36 (Down from 167.69)

Harmer's average jumps up the most as he moves into 100+ points a week for the first time this year. Sam Curran's score of 4 sees his average drop to 104.29 - the lowest it has been since his second week.

Devon Conway - The Best Cricketer of the Week

Weekly

1. Devon Conway - 231 - Was slow to get going in this year's IPL but becomes the second player to three Cricketers of the Week in 2023 - courtesy of a brace of half centuries this week.

2. Ravindra Jadeja - 221 - Had a disapointing week last week with his lowest ever score but played three games this week and got 5 wickets across them - including three in one game against Hyderabad.

=3. Cam Green - 210 - That's two good weeks in a row now and this one topped last weeks thanks to an all round display against Punjab.

=3. Suryakumar Yadav - 210 - It's about time that SKY joined the party. To say that his IPL 2023 has not gone quite to plan would be something of an understatement but he has got over 20 in three of his last four games and is back on the up and up. Seems a long time since he was in the Top 5 though.

5. Hardik Pandya - 159 - Has slowly been fighting his way back from injury but was back to his best with the ball this week with 66 v Lucknow.

Overall

1. Shakib Al Hasan - 2565 - Despite being inactive for another week he has now tied with Shubman Gill for most weeks in the Top Spot. With a lead of 403 points he is almost certain to break it next week.

2. Jos Buttler - 2162 - Another underwhelming performance means that Buttler is not using IPL 2023 to propel himself up to first place as quickly as he would like.

3. Shubman Gill - 2004 - Just the one game for Gujarat this week but no pressure from below means his third place berth was never in jeopardy.

4. Rashid Khan - 1953 - Doing alright for himself without being prolific in this IPL. Never without a wicket....however it must be said that his Economy points are surprisingly low. Holds fourth for a second week.

5. Ravindra Jadeja - 1895 - 211 points sees him lurch towards fourth place but is joined in a joint lurch with Devon Conway. There's a real gulf of 242 points between Conway in sixth and Jansen in 7th.

Other Movers

Moeen Ali is the latest player to take advantage of Usman Khawaja's extended spell away from the game, moving up to 11th. Harmer continues to move up a spot a week.

Ones To Watch

Last week's battle between SKY and Warner was emphatically one by the Mumbai man. This time out it is Punjab v Gujarat as captains Curran and Pandya have just the 9 point gap between them.

Top 3 Averages

1. Shakib Al Hasan - 197.31
2. Ravindra Jadeja = 189.5 (Down from 187.11)
3. Jos Buttler = 180.17 ( Down from 189.55)

Cam Green is the most improved player for the second week in a row. He has moved from 66.2 points a week to 99.53 in that time. Harry Brook descends once more, leaking 10 points and is down to 115.
