Shubman Gill - The Best Cricketer of the Week

Weekly Top 5

1. Shubman Gill - 268 - Was on the losing side of the final but Shubman Gill was by far and away the star man of the tournament. he picked up 1333 points across the tournament and moved halted his descent out of the Top 5. And now the WTC Final

2. Simon Harmer - 187 - T20 is not Harmer's most favoured format but 4-28 and 21 with the bat against Sussex yesterday saw him pick up 161 points and steam into second place.

3. Hardik Pandya - 129 - A stuttering IPL 2023 ended with two decent showings with both bata and ball. He did the most of the damage with his strike rate points; 54% of his points being picked up in that column.

4. Suryakumar Yadav - 111 - Did not reach the final but continued his strong second half of the tournament. After scoring 326 points in the first 4 weeks of the tournament he scored 839 in the last 4 weeks and has not been out of the Weekly Top 5.

5. Sam Curran - 85 - There is a big drop off between 4th and 5th and, in real terms, Curran has had a stinker of a week. He has played 3 T20 Blast games this week so 85 is actually very poor. Holds 7th though and there are lots of games to make things good.

Overall

1. Shubman Gill - 2960 - Was already in top spot before his Cricketer of the Week this week. He now has a lead of 359 on second place; the third largest gulf in points between any position on The List.

2. Shakib Al Hasan - 2601 - Still recovering from injury and holding on to 2nd spot by a mere 1 point.

3. Rashid Khan - 2600 - Rashid came within a whisker of taking second place this week and would have done so if injury had not meant he could not feature in this morning's ODI between Afghanistan and Sri Lanka. Should he play later in the week he will be at least a place higher.

4. Jos Buttler - 2354 - Another poor showing from Jos however...he scored 11 point this week and holds off 5th place by 9 points....so it could have been worse.

5. Ravindra Jadeja - 2345 - Despite being the key man for Chennai in the final his points were rather underwhelming. He does retain 5th for, an almost comical, 10th week.

Other Movers

60 for Cam Green sees him overleap the pointless Moeen Ali and the inactive David Warner and move up to 12th.

Top 3 Averages

1. Shakib Al Hasan - 185.79
2. Shubman Gill - 174.12 (Up from 168.25)
3. Ravindra Jadeja = 156.33 (Down from 165)

Weird one this. losing finalist Shubman Gill's average goes up the most (+5.87) whilst IPL winner Ravindra Jadeja goes down the most (-8.67) however both continue to have the second and third best averages overall.

Simon Harmer - The Best Cricketer of the Week

Weekly

1. Simon Harmer - 659 - A record breaking week for Harmer. His weekly total is the highest ever recorded on our List - overtaking Marnus Labuschagne 641 from this time last year. It is also his 30th time topping the Weekly List. His nearest rival is Stokes with just 13.

2. Jonny Bairstow - 373 - In only 24 weeks between now and 2018 would Bairstow's total last week not have seen him top the weekly List but such is the vagaries of the English Summer. YJB moves up an astronomical 5 places to 12th on the overall List.

3. Mohammad Rizwan - 270 - His return stint to Sussex has yielded two successive 200 points weeks before he jogs back off to represent Pakistan later this month.

4. Joe Root - 181 - More of an all round performance from Honest Joe this week but 86* is never to be sniffed at. He is up to seventh place - his highest position of the year so far.

5. Rishabh Pant - 126 - Leicestershire's Rishabh Pant.....yes, that's right....warmed up for the Eng vs Ind series with a comfortable cameo for the County setup.

Overall

1. Simon Harmer - 3339 - When you are already leading the pack and then get the highest points score ever, you are very likely to continue in top spot. In fact, it might be a very long while until we see anybody eat into Harmer's 758 lead.

2. Mohammad Rizwan - 2581 - Rizwan has 'done a Labuschagne' and used a spell at a Division Two team to shore up his position in the Top 5. He now has a fortnight off but the gap between second and third is the third largest on our list.

3. Marnus Labuschagne - 2221 - Scored the second lowest total of the week...but still managed to move up into third.

4. Glenn Maxwell - 2203 - Despite the hype, was inactive this week and drops a place because of it.

5. Rishabh Pant - 2126 - Started his mini tour of England with a good game for Leicestershire and moves back into the Top 5 again after 2 weeks away.

Ones To Watch

Again it is Labuschagne and Maxwell. Marnus is now 18 ahead of Glenn but, should Maxi play, it is all up for grabs.

Top Three Averages

1. Simon Harmer = 208.69 (Up from 178.67)
2. Babar Azam = 157.33
3. Ben Stokes = 156.42 (Down from 167.18)

A fortnight ago, Harmer was the biggest loser and Stokes the biggest winner - this week it is reversed....however both hold on to their place in the Top 3.

Mohammad Rizwan - The Best Cricketer of the Week

Weekly Top 5

1. Mohammad Rizwan - 289 - After an underwhelming PAK vs WI series, Rizwan has returned to Surrey and put in two banging T20 Blast performances out of 3. Rizwan's second Cricketer of the Week award.

2. Pat Cummins - 195 - Is the 5th least active player but always makes it count when he turns up with an average of 132.46 points per active week. Gets second spot this time out. Up a place to 11th in the Overall List.

3. Glenn Maxwell - 190 - Has had a solid ODI leg of the SL v Aus series...so solid in fact he is expected a Test recall this week. It will be his first point scored in red ball cricket since his spell with Lancashire in 2020.

4. David Warner - 168 - Is mainly in the Top 5 due to his 99 in the fourth ODI. That 'nearly-tonne' is sandwiched between scores of 9 and 10. He is up to 13th on the Overall List.

5. Travis Head - 147 - After being plucked from the A team and hooking back up with the big boys, Head has managed back-to-back top 5 places....frustratingly he has not improved his overall total and remains rooted in 18th and still has 352 points to catch up with Bairstow.

Overall Top 5

1. Simon Harmer - 2680 - Same stuff, different week. Harmer posts an OK score but manages to hold off any real pressure from below. Still has 369 points between him and second.

2. Mohammad Rizwan - 2311 - His winning week sees him back up to second spot. He has not graced the top two places for nearly 3 months but his T20 Blast performances are putting him back in the frame.

3. Glenn Maxwell - 2203 - The winner of Cricketer of the Year from 2019 is in fine form. He is in his highest position for four months and is about to pull on the Baggy Green once more.

4. Marnus Labuschagne - 2198 - Was the lowest scoring of our Australian players during this week's SL v Aus ODIs and has payed the price by moving down a place.

5. Quinton De Kock - 2108 - After holding second or first place for 6 weeks, De Kock is inactive this week and plummets to 5th place. He has a big gap between himself and 6th so he needn't worry too much...yet.

Other Movers

Despite being the lowest scorer of the week, Moeen's score of 62 sees him move up two spots to 7th thanks to inactivity around him. Matt Critchley also moves up a place to 12th.

Ones To Watch

A mere 5 points separate Aussie allrounders Glenn Maxwell and Marnus Labuschagne; with the pair about to embark on a Test series together it could be interesting to see who will prevail.

Top Three Averages

1. Simon Harmer = 178.67 (Down from 183.64)
2. Ben Stokes = 167.18
3. Babar Azam = 157.33

For the third straight week, Harmer has the biggest drop in his average....yet still holds the highest average. In a week where 5 of our Cricketers improved their average it is Rizwan who did so by the most - up 9.13 to 115.55 per active week.
