Nicholas Pooran - The Best Cricketer of the Week

Weekly Top 5

1. Nicholas Pooran - 278 - Never really caught fire since the opening salvos of the IPL but has turned it back on with a half century and a century in the MLC this week.

2. Sam Curran - 218 - Scored a century and was not even in the top 3 highest scores in that mammoth Surrey innings this week. Continues his very very strong English summer.

3. Pathum Nissanka - 198 - Another Test match century....followed up by an ODI duck. Has improved his overall score by 459 in the last fortnight.

4. Wanindu Hasaranga - 172 - Has had a torrid last month or two but turned it back on for an ODI against Bangladesh this week with a fourfer and a score of 22 at a decent lick.

5. Liam Dawson - 167 - Overperformed with the bat and underperformed with the ball against Worcestershire this week. 87 runs and a single wicket sees him in the Top 5 once more though.

Overall Top 5

1. Liam Dawson - 2506 - Holds onto first place for a second week. Has reduced his lead on second from 165 to 114 however.

2. Sam Curran - 2392 - His County Championship 100 sees him hold second place for a second week. He has increased his lead on third from 40 to 109.

3. Nat Sciver-Brunt - 2283 - One decent performance and one disappointing one against India this week sees her hold third place. The gap between her and fourth stands at 202; the third largest of any gap on the List. Is now out for, at least, the next game with injury.

4. Jos Buttler - 2081 - Inactive this week and holds on to fourth place by a mere 10 points.

5. Nicholas Pooran - 2071 - His weekly high score sees him move back into the top 5 for the first time in a month. He has an 177 point gap on the inactive Ravindra Jadeja below him.

Other Movers

Fell out of the weekly Top 5 this week but Travis Head's 160 saw him move up two places to 14th.

Top 3 Averages

1. Sam Curran - 159.47 (Up from 155.29)
2. Chamari Athapaththu -143.6
3. Nat Sciver-Brunt – 142.69 (Up from 142.27)

Nicholas Pooran's weekly high score sees him move up by 9.91 points to 129.44 . Heinrich Klaasen's 0.14 drop is the only negative movement this week and sees him down to 98.47.

Travis Head - The Best Cricketer of the Week

After a few lean weeks, normal service has been resumed in a massive way with some gigantic hauls from our players.

Weekly Top 5

1. Travis Head - 325 - Two very impactful innings this week. His 154 in the first ODI grabbed the headlines but did big things in the second T20I with a 14 ball 31.

2. Marnus Labuschagne - 247 - Was not definitely going to be included in the first ODI against England before illness struck down a number of the squad......certainly made mark with 77 runs and three wickets.

3. Babar Azam - 229 - Two more massive innings from Babar in the Champions One Day Cup. Won't be worth much to the critics but is his highest score for 18 weeks.

4. James Vince - 171 - Is ending his County Championship season in very decent form; this week scoring 101 runs against Worcestershire. One more game and a little break away from the game before some BBL cricket as his 2024 swansong.

5. Sam Curran - 169 - Decides that he likes a bit of red ball cricket these days. Turns out for Surrey as they lift the County Championship for the third year on the bounce. Will be disappointed with his performance with the bat but got 5 wickets in the match to see him in fifth.

Overall Top 5

1. James Vince - 3873 - Back into first place after three weeks away. Has one more County Championship game to open up a big lead on those below him but is certainly the odds on favourite to be a surprise Cricketer of the Year for 2024.

2. Chamari Athapaththu - 3753 - Three weeks inactive was too much for the Sri Lankan to hope to hold onto the crown for. Two more weeks until the Women's T20 World Cup though.

3. Travis Head - 3203 - The Autralian's week topping score sees him up a place into third. Third is his highest position of the year.

4. Sam Curran - 3156 - Despite finishing in the Top 5 this week, Curran still moves down a spot to fourth.

5. Babar Azam - 3056 - Handy points in the Champions One Day Cup sees him open up 377 points on 6th place Simon Harmer. Only three gaps are bigger on our List.

Ones to Watch

With India in the midst of Test match against Bangladesh there is a little gap window between Gill in 14th and Jadeja in 17th with just 127 points in it. The players in between them are brook and Kohli who will also be in action.

Other Movers

Moeen Ali has a funny little habit of performing averagely and still moving up a place. This week he scored just 94 yet still moves up to 11th.

Top Three Averages

1. Chamari Athapaththu - 187.65
2. Babar Azam - 145.52 (Up from 141.35)
3. Marnus Labuschagne - 138.47 (Up from 132.44)

Mitch Marsh already had the third lowest score of anyone on the list and leaked a further 3.73 points this week to move down to 73.33. Travis Head moves up 7.94 points to 118.59.

Sam Curran - The Best Cricketer of the Week

Weekly

1. Sam Curran - 297 - One great performance usually sees you good for Cricketer of the Week but you needed two this week - and Curran duly delivered with a 5-fer against Somerset and then a 22 ball 59 against Glamorgan. This is his first time topping the Weekly List.

2. Usman Khawaja - 256 - Usman's place on this list was going to live or die on whether he could make good in England....and early signs show that he is making good in England. He faced more balls in the first Ashes Test than he did in his last 7 innings combined in this country.

3. Pat Cummins - 232 - Great to see Pat doing what he does best after his long spell away. His bowling points have him the lion's share of his 232 but this week will be best remembered for his batting.

4. Jos Buttler - 225 - A barn storming innings against Worcestershire propels his week from Good into Top 5 status.

5. Jonny Bairstow - 178 - Criticised for his keeping (although 50 points came from the gloves) he manages to make his Top 5 debut for the year.

Overall

1. Shubman Gill - 3001 - Inactive this week and with a much more mortal looking gap between him and second place. His time is running out.

2. Jos Buttler - 2730 - Arrested his descent down the table to move back up to second; his highest position for six weeks.

3. Rashid Khan - 2613 - Inactive this week and back down to third. Unsure where his next match is coming from but could be anywhere, in any continent, at any given time.

4. Shakib Al Hasan - 2601 - Still out injured and now down to 4th spot; his lowest berth since the start of February.

5. Ravindra Jadeja - 2573 - Guess whose back....back again....Ravi's back....tell your friends.....He loves fifth...He loves fifth....He loves fifth.....

Other Movers

Simon Harmer continues to mount the table. He moves up another place this week to finish 7th; still trailing Sam Curran.

Top 3 Averages

1. Shakib Al Hasan - 185.79
2. Shubman Gill - 166.72
3. Ravindra Jadeja = 160.81

One big mover upwards and a tiny one downwards this week. Bairstow has still only played a handful of weeks so his decent outing in the first Ashes Test moves him up 22.2 to 89.6. David Warner moves down the most this week - leaking 2.22 points to 78.31.
