Travis Head - The Best Cricketer of the Week

A huge point scoring week this week with the top 6 all scoring more than 200.

Weekly Top 5

1. Travis Head - 346 - His highest score of the year comes courtesy of the bowlers of Major League Cricket. This is, surprisingly , his first Cricketer of the Week accolade; becoming the 16th recipient across the year.

2. Chamari Athapaththu - 330 - Straight back into action and straight back into breaking records. This time courtesy of 119 against Malaysia in the Women's Asia Cup.

3. Glenn Maxwell - 268 - Unlike his other Washington Freedom players, The Big Show only played two Major League Cricket games this week but made massive impacts in both; a three wicket haul against Texas Super Kings and a half century off 23 balls versus the San Francisco Unicorns.

4. Harry Brook - 245 - Continued his imperious start to Test cricket with a century in the second innings of the second Test against the West Indies. Moves up a place on the overall list to 18th.

5. Rachin Ravindra - 240 - Is in the top 5, almost exclusively, for his bowling this week with 2 four-fers in Major League Cricket across his three games this week. He got 20 runs across those three games.

Overall Top 5

1. James Vince - 2959 - Kickstarted his Hundred seasons positively with a half century but is definitely looking over his shoulder.

2. Chamari Athapaththu - 2904 - Her Women's Asia Cup heroics sees her back up to second place - and with a not inconsiderable gap between her and third.

3. Babar Azam - 2647 - Azam's Top 5 aspirations were dealt a bitter blow this week with the PCB blocking his request to turn out in the Global T20 Canada tournament. 384 points separate him from 6th.

4. Travis Head - 2567 - His highest score of the year sees him up a place to fourth this week. He only needs 80 points in the Major League Cricket final would see him move up to third.

5. Marnus Labuschagne - 2384 - Despite his best bowling figures in his final T20 Blast game for Glamorgan, Marnus still moves down a spot. A spell away from cricket awaits him now.

Other Movers

Despite mediocre scores of 164 and 54 respectively, Moeen Ali and Sam Curran both moved up a place this week. Curran moves into 11th with Moeen occupying 15th.

Ones to Watch

It's a straight shoot out between Sam Curran for the Oval Invincibles and Glenn Maxwell for Washington Freedom. They both have one game and have just three points between them.

Top Three Averages

1. Chamari Athapaththu - 193.6 (Up from 183.86)
2. Babar Azam - 155.71
3. Marnus Labuschagne - 132.44 (Up from 131.41)

Steve Smith's average improves the most - up 13.67 - drawing him away from the foot of the table. Meanwhile Usman Khawaja, who was already bottom, is even worse off; down 10.77 to 56.83.

Marnus Labuschagne - The Best Cricketer of the Week

Weekly Top 5

1. Marnus Labuschagne - 196 - Largely here courtesy of one stonking all round feat against Essex earlier in the week. His 30 from 26 balls and 3 wickets earned him 70% of his score this week. Incidentally 50 of the remainder of his points came from Fielding.

2. Shubman Gill - 159 - Back in the points after 7 weeks away. Was 9th when he took his Post-IPL break and was 14th overall last week. This week's knocks against Zimbabwe sees him up a place to 13th.

3. Aaron Hardie - 145 - Broke a 15 week spell of inactivity off this week with a foray in the MLC. Got 2 wickets in his fist game against Los Angeles and then a knock of 34 in his final game against San Frnacisco.

4. Steve Smith - 118 - Resurrected after a period of slumber Rip Van Winkle would be proud of. Was let down by the washing out of the game against Texas which would have been enough to see him probably nick 2nd place.

5. Harry Brook - 90 - Obviously wasn't the most headline grabbing name coming out of the England Test but certainly caught the eye with a decent fifty.

Overall Top 5

1. James Vince - 2695 - Lost first place in late February but has been waiting in the shadows like a stealthy ninja for his time to strike....and this week was his time.

2. Babar Azam - 2647 - Inactive again this week and loses his spot at the pinnacle of our list.

3. Chamari Athapaththu - 2574 - Inactive once more but has a healthy cushion of nearly half a thousand points between her and fourth place.

4. Jos Buttler - 2104 - Should be looking over his shoulder whilst simultaneously looking forward to The Hundred. This three week spell in 4th is the longest time he has held any position so far this year.

5. Marnus Labuschagne - 2081 - Continues his rapid ascent up the table. Was 18th placed 5 weeks ago and now is making his first appearance in the Top 5 since his victorious year in 2021.

Other Movers

Simon Harmer forces his customary 'Summertime' agenda and moves up two spots to 8th despite 66 points this week.

Top Three Averages

1. Chamari Athapaththu - 183.86
2. Babar Azam - 155.71
3. Jos Buttler - 131.5

Aaron Hardie had the second lowest average at the start of the week, he now has the 5th lowest at 75.91 - up 6.91. Vince drops down by 2.51 eating into his 10.63 increase of the week prior.

Shakib Al Hasan - The Best Cricketer of the Week

Weekly Update

1. Shakib Al Hasan - 263 - Love him of loathe him the Bangladesh captain is irrepressible. Shrugs off 6 inactive weeks with his 4th Cricketer of the Week award od 2023. Nobody has more.

2. Pat Cummins - 201 - When Cummins plays he finishes in the weekly Top 5. It is as simple as that. Is eating into that deficit to 17th place Overall - it is now just 279 points.

3. Harry Brook - 128 - One of our disappointments this year (this is just his third Weekly Top 5 finish) - however his Ashes saving knock will live long in the memory. He moves up a place overall to 16th.

4. Moeen Ali - 115 - The cult hero pops up into the Top 5 for the first time in Red Ball Cricket this year - largely thanks to a brace in the second Australian innings of the Third Test. Goes up 2 places overall to 12th.

5. Devon Conway - 115 - A new competition for our list. 115 points for the Texas Super Kings in the Major League Cricket mark Conway's first points since the end of the IPL.

Overall List

1. Shubman Gill - 3001 - Will be back in action in next week's update and still holding on to Top Spot despite a month off

2. Jos Buttler - 2976 - His T20 Blast journey is over but he has used it to bring himself back up to second...however is lead on third is just 47 so he has not forced his agenda as much as he would have liked.

3. Shakib Al Hasan - 2929 - Only the two weeks out of the Top 5 for Shakib as he jumps from 6th to 3rd thanks to 2 ODIs and a T20 this week.

4. Simon Harmer - 2879 - An underwhelming return to County Championship Action for Harmer, however he holds fourth spot.

5. Sam Curran - 2845 - An uncharacteristically meagre return from Curran, however Finals Day might yield a fair few point for Curran. He has slipped two places to 5th.

Other Movers

Two players at the bottom end of the Top 10 moved up a place this week. Suryakumar Yadav's return to red ball cricket sees him up to 9th whilst Babar Azam ends 2 months off to move back into the Top Ten.
