Jos Buttler - The Best Cricketer of the Week

Weekly Top 5

1. Jos Buttler - 227 - Excelled in two short England games this week; one short because of ineptitude and one because of the weather, however he showed impactful batting in both. This is his 6th Cricketer of the Week; two more than anyone else on the List.

2. Chamari Athapaththu - 203 - Has been challenging last year's maxim that she plays huge when she does play but doesn't play very much. This is only her 11th wicket of cricket but gets 203 courtesy of an incredible bowling performance against Trinbago

3. Liam Livingstone - 195 - Returned to the Lancashire side for a rare outing to rocket propel them into T20 Finals day with a match winning 85 against Kent.

4. Yashasvi Jaiswal - 138 - A return to cricket after the England Test series with a losing appearance for West Zone in the Duleep Trophy. Scored just 4 in the first innings but followed it up with a half century in the second dig.

5. Jamie Smith - 102 - Is going to be rested for the rest of the White Ball Summer but made the most of his final foray with a 62 against South Africa in the final ODI.

Overall Top 5

1. Sam Curran - 4051 - A literal damp squib for Curran's return to the England set up as he garners only 30 points from the shambolic first T20i against South Africa. More to come.

2. Jos Buttler - His top scoring week moves him back up a place to second.

3. Liam Dawson - 3503 - Bit parts in two games this week but only 21 points and down a place to third. There is, however, a huge gap between him and fourth place - 537 points is the largest gap of any point in the List.

4. Nat Sciver-Brunt - Inactive again this week and lucky that so many just below her were wither inactive too or having stinkers.

5. Ravindra Jadeja - 2804 - Inactive again and Pooran's score of just 13 in the CPL means that his lead on sixth place is still 47 points.

Ones To Watch

Saim Ayub only got 47 points this week but the long time bottom spot player is on the up and up. he is 7 points from 19th and only 400 separate him from 15th.

Top 3 Averages

1. Sam Curran - 162.04 (Down from 167.54)
2. Chamari Athapaththu - 149 ( Up from 143.6)
3. Nat Sciver-Brunt – 141.24

Athapaththu moves up the most this week whilst Jasprit Bumrah's swing from red ball to white ball cricket sees him drop by 5.84 points to 15th.

Marnus Labuschagne - The Best Cricketer of the Week

This week marks the start of the T20 World Cup....not that you would know it. The average points scored by all active players per week is 1324. This week only 459 points were scored.

We will only do a Top 3 this week because if we did a top 5 we would have to include Jadeja and Mitch Marsh who scored 14 points.

Weekly Top 3

1. Marnus Labuschagne - 198 - Our underwhelming list this week is topped by Labuschagne who has had an underwhelming year. Even his score of 198 seems tainted by the fact that he played 3 T20 Blast games and flopped in 2 of them.

2. Babar Azam - 64 - Pulled a Kohli this week; impressing individually whilst being in a trainwreck of a team. 44 runs with 20 Strike Rate points will not make up for a loss to America in the World Cup.

3. James Vince - 55 - Vince started the year with some stellar showings in the BBL and the ILT20....but can't reproduce that in the T20 Blast. 35 runs with 20 Strike Rate Points against Kent sees him finish third for the week.

Overall Top 5

1. Babar Azam - 2521 - Finished second for the week and edges his lead over half a thousand points again. This is his 16th week in first place.

2. Chamari Athapaththu - 1989 - Inactive for a month but still manages to keep a hold of the second place berth she has now been in for 5 weeks.

3. Yashasvi Jaiswal - 1962 - Unselected in India's victory over Ireland and unused in their warm-up game against Bangladesh. Still keeps hold of 3rd place for a 5th Week.

4. James Vince - 1787 - Continues to impress this year despite modest scores since his return to England. This is his second week in 4th spot.

5. Ravindra Jadeja - 14 - Just 14 points in India's opening victory against Ireland but no score board pressure from below him. Buttler is 103 below him.

Ones To Watch

The narrowest gap is between Daryl Mitchell and Simon Harmer in 13th and 14th. Just 12 points between two players competing in two very different T20 competitions.

2. Chamari Athapaththu - 165.75
3. Virat Kohli - 124.92 (Down from 135.27)

Virat Kohli's poor score sees his average drop the most, down 10.35. Marnus' winning week sees him up by 9.35 - he is the only player to improve his average this week.

Simon Harmer - The Best Cricketer of the Week

 Weekly Top 5

1. Simon Harmer - 307 - Like the twinkling of an ice cream man's chimes lilting across a meadow on a warm afternoon, Harmer registering a huge score means the Summer has really started. Took longer than we thought but is back in the top spot once more.

2. Marnus Labuschagne - 174 - Back from 10 (!!!) weeks in the wilderness but straight in at second place courtesy of a century in his second innings century against Middlesex.

3. Virat Kohli - 150 - Two games for Kohli this week, the last of which led to Bengaluru's elimination from the competition. He has scored 1341 points across the IPL season. To put that into comparison the second highest point scorer was Phil Salt with 426 fewer.

4. Rachin Ravindra - 111 - Looked like he was going to take the IPL by storm with 223 points in his first week....however this score is his second highest in that time. In the intervening weeks he averaged just 24.

5. James Vince - 92 - Has yet to convert his white ball prowess back into red ball form, however his 36 & 6 against Nottinghamshire somehow sees him nab 5th place this week.

Overall Top 5

1. Babar Azam - 2359 - Only inactive this week courtesy of the Birmingham rain. Will be undoubtably back in the points next week.

2. Chamari Athapaththu - 1989 - Continues her inactive spell. Has almost seen off the threat of the IPL boys behind her. How long can she keep her spot?

3. Yashasvi Jaiswal - 1878 - A decent score of 45 at a decent lick sees Jaiswal hold third place for a third week. A decent run in could see him up to second by next week.

4. Ravindra Jadeja - 1709 - Finished the IPL strongly with a final score of 72 against Bengaluru. Wasn't enough to see them progress in the competition though.

5. James Vince - 1611 - Vince has Travis Head's abandonment of form to thank for his return into the Top 5. 0 from two games from the Aussie was trumped by the Hampshire man's score of 92 this week.

Ones To Watch

A back in form Simon Harmer is in action versus Kent this week whilst Moeen will be back in international colours this week. Just 7 points separate them in 13th and 14th.

Top 3 Average Points per Active Week

1. Babar Azam -181.46 (Up from 176.42)
2. Chamari Athapaththu - 165.75
3. Virat Kohli - 135.27 (Up from 133.8)

Obviously Travis Head's score of 0 has seen him descent the most, to the tune of -7.46. Meanwhile Harmer remembering how to bowl again improves his average by 21.05 - up to 96.45.

Ravindra Jadeja - The Best Cricketer of the Week

Weekly Top 5

1. Ravindra Jadeja - 217 - Jadeja snaffled a double tonne of points without really breaking sweat in India's comprehensive First Test victory over West Indies to end his month long inactive spell.

2. Devon Conway - 154 - Conway more than made up for his 0 point game against Washington with 77 from 55 and three contributions with the gloves in the game against New York.

3. Marco Jansen - 122 - is back scoring points again after a break of 2 months....but this score represents his total from 3 games of MLC cricket so is on the more disappointing end of the spectrum.

4. Rashid Khan- 79 - I can comfortably say that few players in the history of cricket have played a match in Sylhet and a match in Dallas in the same week but that just typifies modern cricket and Rashid Khan's life. Expect more pyrotechnics in coming weeks of the MLC from Rashid

5. Shakib Al Hasan - 78 - A much more meagre return from Shakib this week but still just tips into the Top 5. Is about to join up with the Montreal Tigers in the Global T20 Canada League...you would suspect he will do some real damage there.

Weekly Update

1. Shubman Gill - 3037 - The 36 points he scored in the First Test against the West Indies were disapointing but allows him to hold onto first place. His lead is just 30 now.

2. Shakib Al Hasan - 3007 - It took Shakib just two weeks from his return to cricket to surge from 6th place back up to 2nd. With the....perhaps....slightly less rigorous standard of the Global T20 Canada competition, he may well be back up to top next week.

3. Jos Buttler - Inactive this week and down a spot to third. The Hundred is next for him.

4. Simon Harmer - 2950 - Could not polish off Kent soon enough to be included in this week's update so remains in fourth with the 71 points he got in his two outings on T20 Blast Finals Day.

5. Sam Curran - 2870 - Only 25 points in a disappointing T20 Finals Day for Surrey and their captain. Has Rashid Khan breathing down his neck.

Ones to Watch

The Top 5 is in a massive state of flux at the moment. There are only 247 points between 1st and 7th and everyone in that mix will play over the next week with the exception of Buttler and Curran.

Top 3 Averages

1. Shakib Al Hasan - 176.88 (Down from 183.06)
2. Ravindra Jadeja - 164.12 (Up from 160.81)
3. Pat Cummins - 161.43

Shubman Gill's average takes the biggest tumble - down 6.88 to 159.84 - and he moves out of the overall Top 3. Jadeja's average improves the most - up 3.31 points to 164.12 - and he replaces Gill in second place.
