Shakib Al Hasan - The Best Cricketer of the Week

Only 3 players to feature this week - so not so much as a Weekly Update....more of a Weekly Round Up.

In third place...or last place if you'd rather...Maro Jansen. A three-fer was all Marco had to offer this week - however, as he so often does, this has seen him move up the table. Surprisingly he has gone up two places to 6th.

In second place is Rashid Khan who continued his reign of terror. A wicket in every game against Pakistan coupled with maximum economy points in 2 of the three matches sees him continue to impress.

Cricketer of the Week this week goes to Shakib Al Hasan - a man who has not been COTW since 2019. He has been hugely impressive so far this year. This time out he excelled with the ball - bagging a five-fer against Ireland on Sunday.

Overall

1. Shakib Al Hasan - 1972 - Shakib has only had two weeks at the top of the table but has a huge lead of 321. No player has a bigger lead on the man below him.

2. Jos Buttler - 1601 - Inactive this week and has only 11 points of a lead below him. He loves a bit of IPL action though so will be looking up and not down.

3. Rashid Khan - 1590 - The relentlessness of Rashid continues. He is now up to his highest position of the year so far....with a lot of IPL cricket in coming weeks he could be here for a while.

4. Shubman Gill - 1490 - Inactive this week and down to his lowest position since Week 2. How well can he do in the coming weeks? He has never been out of the Top 5 this year.

5. Ravindra Jadeja - 1414 - Drops to 5th again as he continues his yo-yo act up and down the Top 5. We will not see huge scores from him in the IPL but if he is a regular starter a few wickets here and there should see him do OK.

Ones to Watch

The smallest gap in the competition is between Rajasthan's Jos Buttler and Gujarat's Rashid Khan who have 11 between them. Could be a tussle that goes on between batter and bowler for a few weeks.

Top 3 Averages

1. Ravindra Jadeja – 235.67 (Down from 268)
2. Jos Buttler – 204.71
3. Shubman Gill – 186.25 (Down from 204.71)

Jadeja takes another big leap downwards..but still has the highest average of them all. Jansen's average takes a healthy bump up to 120.22.

Hardik Pandya - The Best Cricketer of the Week

Weekly List

1. Hardik Pandya - 161 - Was being eased back into things during the ODIs against Australia but certainly hit his straps with 40 and 3 wickets in the final foray. Just in time for IPL 2023.

2. Marco Jansen - 150 - Doesn't seem like he deserves to be this high after two ODIs where he was rather whacked about against the Windies but it is a low coring week and here he is. Up a place to 8th on the Overall list too.

3. Shakib Al Hasan - 143 - Could have had another Cricketer of the Week award under his belt were it not for the abandoned second ODI against Ireland. 93 in the first match sees him near the top once more however.

4. Devon Conway - 118 - A score of 78 rather pales in comparison when the lads behind you ended up with double tonnes but he was back to his free-scoring ways once more. Up to 6th spot again.

5. Ravindra Jadeja - 74 - Jadeja's lowest score of the year so far....and he still lands quite comfortably in the Top 5 for the week. Not bad at all.

Overall

1. Shakib Al Hasan - 1708 - We have a new best Cricketer in the World. After 3 weeks of Buttler Shakib becomes the fourth man to hold the title in 2023. Will he feature so reguarly in the IPL to make this place his own.

2. Jos Buttler - 1601 - Down a spot before an IPL led assault. Has a decent lead on third so should be looking up and not down.

3. Shubmann Gill - 1490 - A third successive week in third spot despite an underwhelming ODI series. There was very little pressure on him from below - however this will chasnge come IPL season.

4. Ravindra Jadeja - 1414 - Bounces back and forth between fourth and fifth - and this week holds 4th down for a fortnight.

5. Rashid Khan - 1324 - Just 40 points this week but manages to keep himself in the Top 5. Devon Conway in 6th place is still a quite chunky 189 points away.

Top 3 Averages

1. Ravindra Jadeja – 235.67 (Down from 268)
2. Jos Buttler – 204.71
3. Shubman Gill – 186.25 (Down from 204.71)

Usman Khawaja - The Best Cricketer of the Week

In stark contrast to last week, almost all of our available players were in action this week – but some posted some tiddly totals with others going big.

Weekly Update

1. Usman Khawaja - 230 - Always has these big scores in him - and this week's was a doozy. has really put to bed the gripes about his form on the sub-continent. Joins Jadeja, Buttler and Conway as two time Cricketers of the Week for 2023. Up to 7th place Overall

2. Ravindra Jadeja - 223 - Surprisingly Jadeja was more effective in his ODI showing than he was in the final test against Australia. yet another 200+ score for the all-rounder and he continues his vice like grip on Top 5 places.

3. Simon Harmer - 200 - Back playing red ball cricket and back in the reckoning. A nice round score of 200 as South Africa put the West Indies to the sword in their final Test this week. A sign of things to come. Up a place to 16th on the Overall List.

4. Shubman Gill - 198 - Seems quite a low score for a man who scored a century and played an ODI this week but such was the form of others that he only just manages to creep into the Top 5.

5. Cam Green - 196 - If points were awarded for style, Cam Green might have won Cricketer of the Week....but they aren't....so he didn't.

Overall List

1. Jos Buttler - 1601 - A modest score this week. If those below him had done well this week he could have lost his top place berth but he lives to fight another day.

2. Shakib Al Hasan - 1565 - Was averaging 186.25 a week before this week. That would have seen him move into top spot - however he managed a mere 74 in two T20s and keeps 2nd place for a second week.

3. Shubman Gill - 1433 - Back in the points and in the Top 5 scorers for the week but manages to make no headway on the Overall Top 5. Has an ODI series to put that right.

4. Ravindra Jadeja - 1340 - Back up a place from last week. Showed great promise in the first ODI so could mount a challenge on the Top 3 next week.

5. Rashid Khan - 1284 - A quiet week for Rashid with very few wickets to crow of in his 3 games. Drops down a spot to 5th.

Top 3 Averages

1. Ravindra Jadeja – 268 (Down from 279.25)
2. Jos Buttler – 204.71 (Down from 219.57)
3. Shubman Gill – 200.13 (Down from 205.83)

Simon Harmer’s average moves up the most this week…however at 60.4 it is still the lowest of anybody except Warner. Jos Buttler’s average drops by 19.44 point but he retains second place overall.

Phil Salt - The Best Cricketer of the Week

The fifth highest week for point scoring with 9 triple figure scores. Last week's highest score would see you finishing 5th this week....
