Liam Dawson - The Best Cricketer of the Week

The South Africa/Australia Test going the distance leaves us with only 7 active Cricketers this week....thusly a Top 3 ensues.

Weekly Top 3

1. Liam Dawson - 195 - Slowly forcing his agenda as being something close to undroppable for the England One Day side. This week he bagged 6 wickets in his two ODIs and his second Cricketer of the Week for the year.

2.Sam Curran- 183 - Didn't have the greatest of week's last week (in terms of performances) but turned it round this week with 63 runs and some economical bowling. Moves up to 6th Overall.

3.Ravindra Jadeja -161 - Another Ranji Trophy outing for Jadeja which was good without being electric. He got 21 runs and a brace of wickets in both innings. He moves up 3 places to 13th.

Overall Top 5

1.Simon Harmer - 4089 - His latest load of Red Ball points have yet to drop and he still holds first place by 67 points.

2. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi - 4022- Played two games this week for his 89 points. Could have played three but was dropped for the final T20 this week.

3.Harry Brook - 3948 - Just 95 points this week. Still manages to narrow the gap on second to 74 whilst putting an ever more chasm like gap between himself and fourth.

4. Jos Buttler- 3770 - Still here. Still injured we wait.

5. Shubman Gill - 3047 - Rested while a B-ish sting of players have a hit against New Zealand.

2.Harry Brook - 146.22 (Down from 148.19)

Marco Jansen - The Best Cricketer of the Week

After some fairly low-scoring weeks there has been a lot of movement this week - some of it quite significant.

Weekly Top 5

1. Marco Jansen - 330 - Has really enjoyed this Test series against Australia - underlined by the fact he has scored over half a thousand points in the first two Tests. Up to the dizzying heights of 7th Overall.

2. Harry Brook - 297 - In much the same way as his team finished second best after his monumental score of 202, Brook manages to get pipped to the top spot this week. Gets that very rare 50 point Batting Bonus though.

3. Simon Harmer - 242 - Proved his all round pedigree with 80 runs against one of the toughest bowling attacks in world cricket. He coupled that with two wickets to see him in the Top 5 two weeks on the bounce.

4. Travis Head - 175 - The only slight glimmer of light in what has been a fairly cloudy vista for Australia in South Africa. Bagged a century when it really didn't matter any more. Moves up to 15th.

5. Sam Curran - 107 - Had a particularly hard time of it with the ball this week but still does just about enough to squeak into the Top 5 after his return from injury. Was 4th when he last played...is now 8th and 934 points away from that position.

Overall Top 5

1. Simon Harmer - 4089 - Something Rocky-esque about Harmer's return to the summit. Not selected in 2025 and facing a new wave of young talent, Harmer has stoically worked his way up the rankings to claim top spot whilst defeating one of the best Test teams out there.

2. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi - 3933 - Has heled first place for 41 weeks but has only scored 93 points in the last month and a half. Even more of a concern is that third place is only 80 points below him.

3. Harry Brook - 3853 - Has taken a big big stride up the List this week. Up to third and now just 236 points from first.....not inconceivable....also not unjustified.

4. Jos Buttler - 3770 - Will not play again this year. How long can he hold his Top 5 place?

5. Shubman Gill - 3047 - Used a Ranji Trophy game to keep his eye in.....and most emphatically did not. Scoring 1 run and contributing once in the field for 11 points. 201 points between him and a resurgent Marco Jansen who is one to watch this week.

Highest Weekly Average

1. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi = 157.32
2.Harry Brook - 148.19 (Up from 142.24)
3. Simon Harmer - 141(Up from 137.39)

Marco Jansen moves his average up by 8.45points to 101.64 whilst Gill's poor week sees him down by 5.04 points to 126.96.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz - The Best Cricketer of the Week

Bigger scores this week but only 7 active players means a Top 3 once more.

Weekly Top 3

1.Mehidy Hasan Miraz - 256 - Has snuck on me just how good a year MHM has had. This is his 5th Cricketer of the Week award - tied first alongside Sooryavanshi. This week also sees him move up to 7th Overall and only 232 off the Top 5.

2. Ravindra Jadeja - 242 - A very decent domestic haul for Jadeja as he scores 102 runs and gets 3 wickets for Saurashtra in the Ranji Trophy

3. Marco Jansen - 231 - The stand out performer of our 4 players to be turning our in the South Africa - Australia Test. 61 runs is fewer than Markram but his 4 wickets plus bonus points lifts him 29 points above the batter.

Overall Top 5

1. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi - 3933 - Rumours abound that the wunderkind might be drafted in for the final T20 against West Indies -and my God does he need it. Only 86 points away from losing a first place berth he has held since Week 1.

2. Simon Harmer - 3847 - Was the lowest scoring of our three South African Test players but he has done enough to reclaim second place.....now where?

3.Jos Buttler- 3770 - Long term out. Has 214 points between him and fourth ....but a huge 922 between him and sixth. Is his Top 5 place booked for 2026?

4. Harry Brook- 3556 - Back in action on Monday. No pressure from below him......how far can he reach in the final 10 weeks of the year?

5. Shubman Gill - 3036 - Inactive this week but could see a resurgent Mehidy Hasan Miraz push for his Top 5 place this week. 232 seperate the two men.

Highest Weekly Average

1. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi = 157.32
2.Harry Brook - 142.24
3. Simon Harmer - 137.39 (Down from 137.85)

MHM moves up 5.99 points to 112.16 whilst Head drops by 2.84 to 89.64. Only Salt, Ecclestone and Nissanka have a worse average than him.
