The Cricket List 2021 Final Standings.

 1.  Marnus Labuschagne

Score: 5311

Cricketer of the Weeks – 8
Average score per active week –177.33 (2nd)
Highest Score – 641 – Not only the highest score this year but the highest ever score in our Lists thanks to 226* in a Glamorgan 2nd XI match.
Stat Whack – Marnus Labuschagne has spent exactly 50% of the year in first place and has NEVER been outside the top 3. A well justified winner for the year.

2. Simon Harmer

Score: 5201

Cricketer of the Weeks – 8
Average score per active week – 185.75 (1st)
Highest Score – 374 – Scored in the last round of County Championship fixtures prior to the start of the T20 Blast. Surprisingly was not the highest score of that week.
Stat Whack – Was the King of the Wicket takers. He got a quarter of the wickets taken by anyone on our List. Also scored slightly under a quarter of the economy points.

3. Babar Azam

Score: 4385

Cricketer of the Weeks – 2
Average score per active week – 137.03 (5th)
Highest Score – 392 – His score of 158 in the final ODI against England was his highest score of the week but was not enough to see him win cricketer of the week.
Stat Whack – Was the highest T20 point scorer with 73.3% of his points coming from the shortest form.

4. Joe Root

Score: 4117

Cricketer of the Weeks –5

Average score per active week – 158.35 (3rd)
Highest Score – 369 – A great year for the England player if not a great year for the England captain. Things never got better than his first Cricketer of the Week award in January with 238 vs Sri Lanka.
Stat Whack – At 88.49% he has the highest percentage of runs bagged from Long Form cricket.

5. Moeen Ali

Score: 3953

Cricketer of the Weeks – 4
Average score per active week – 136.31 (6th)
Highest Score –336 – Moeen absolutely raked the points in during the Abu Dhabi T10 league. It was this that pushed him into the Top 5.
Stat Whack – With 890, Moeen had the highest number of points of anyone for his Strike Rate. It made up just under a quarter of his total points.

6. Quinton De Kock

Score: 3312

Cricketer of the Weeks – 2

Average score per active week – 122.67 (8th)
Highest Score – 475 – The third highest score we have ever recorded came from 5 (five) games in one week against Ireland.
Stat Whack – Has been the most effective wicket-keeper in our list this year with 25.36% of his points coming from the gloves.

7. Ravichandran Ashwin

Score: 3149

Cricketer of the Weeks – 5

Average score per active week – 149.95 (4th)
Highest Score – 429 – The 10th highest List score on record was the first of three back-to-back Cricketer of the Week awards during the India v England series.
Stat Whack – Always the bridesmaid. Was the player with the second highest percentage of Test points and the player with the second most bowling points.

8. Nicholas Pooran

Score: 2867

Cricketer of the Weeks – 1
Average score per active week –95.57 (13th)
Highest Score – 442 – Pooran registered the 9th highest score of all time in February. He was a beneficiary of the Abu Dhabi T10 League’s very quick turnover of games.
Stat Whack – Pooran scored 81% of his points in the shortest form. This is bettered only by Glenn Maxwell who only played T20 in 2021.

9. Peter Siddle

Score: 2455

Cricketer of the Weeks – 3

Average score per active week – 131 (7th)
Highest Score – 428 – At the time this score, courtesy of two 200+ games for Essex, was the eight highest score of all time. Such has been the profligate scoring of 2021 that it is now a mere 11th.
Stat Whack – His average is the highest for any player to have featured in 20 or fewer weeks.

10. Dawid Malan

Score: 2537

Cricketer of the Weeks –0

Average score per active week – 84.57 (17th)
Highest Score – An unbeaten century in a rare outing for Yorkshire saw him get his highest score for the year…finished fourth that week. Tells you all you need to know about Malan’s year.
Stat Whack – Malan has the second lowest average points per active week at 84.57 despite (or perhaps because) also having the joint highest active weeks at 30.

Ravichandran Ashwin - The Best Cricketer of the Week

Weekly Update

Only enough cricket this week for a top 3.

1. Ravichandaran Ashwin - 290 - A return to test cricket for Ashwin is a return to big hauls of points. Moves up to 7th in the Overall List.

2. Simon Harmer - 128 - Rain hampered Harmer from getting any more than 128 points this week. The Harmer train continues to rumble on though.

3. Moeen Ali - 118 - Despite Moeen's best efforts, his Northern Warriors side was knocked out of the Abu Dhabi T10 league prematurely meaning his points are down on last weeks table topping performance.

Overall Top 5

1. Simon Harmer - 5201 - 6 weeks ago Harmer had a 2 point lead at the top of the table, his 4-Day Franchise campaign has seen that up to 279 with only 4 more updates left until the end of the year.

2. Marnus Labuschagne - 4922 - Only 41 points this week from a Marsh Cup game. It is safe to say that Marnus will either finish first or second as he now holds a 809 point gap on third place.

3. Babar Azam - 4113 - test playing Babar is nowhere near white ball Babar in terms of impact. Azam has only scored 11.18% of his points in the longest form this year. Just 23 points for him this week but he remains third.

4. Moeen Ali - 3953 - Frowned upon by many but Moeen can credit the Abu Dhabi T10 league as the main reason why he has moved into 4th place. He has picked up 519 points across the 12 games and improved his SR points to the tune of 210.

5. Joe Root - 3614 - patiently waiting his turn but may find things a bit difficult. Is 339 points behind 4th and 499 behind third. Needs a big Ashes.

Ones to Watch

Virat Kohli is not doing hugely well in the ongoing Test but has just 3 points to overtake Peter Handscomb in 11th however both Handscomb and Maxwell are in BBL action this week.

2. Marnus Labuschagne - 182.3 (Down from 187.73)
3. Joe Root - 157.13

Marnus' poor week has seen him fall away from Harmer as we reach the end. Ravichandran Ashwin's return to Test has reversed his rapidly descending average to the tune of 8.01 to the good.

Moeen Ali - The Best Cricketer of the Week

 Weekly Update

1. Moeen Ali - 336 - Earlier on in the year Nicholas Pooran got a huge injection of points from the Abu Dhabi T10 League and now Moeen is doing the same thing. This is his highest weekly score of 2021.

2. Simon Harmer - 330 - A phenomenal game for the Titans against Western Province saw Harmer get a ten wicket haul. He was 6 points off top spot for the week. He has also taken over from Joe Root as the player with the most points in First Class cricket.

3. Marnus Labuschagne -193 - Back in the runs for Queensland and back in the Top 5 for the week however 198 isn't a huge score from a First Class and a List A game. He has, however, taken back his title of most runs scored in 2021 from Babar Azam.

4. Peter Siddle - 171 - Fresh from his table topping performance last week, Siddle got 5 wickets across two games this week for another 2 figure score and another Top 5 finish for the week.

5. Peter Handscomb - 102 - Back in action for the week and scored just enough to get into the top 5; however scored more points for catches in the field than he did for runs this week. Moves back up to 11th spot overall.

Overall List

1. Simon Harmer - 5073 - Just when it looks like Harmer will lose his top spot he pulls it out the fire. Another 330 points this week sees him 192 points clear.

2. Marnus Labuschagne - 4881 - Can't seem to do quite enough to move back into first and with The Ashes round the corner he will not play as regularly as he has been for Queensland.

3. Babar Azam - 4090 - The Bangladesh tour was a disappointing one for Babar personally but third spot is still comfortably his.

4. Moeen Ali - 3835 - Moeen has been on an upward trajectory for the last 10 weeks and moves up to his highest spot of the year so far thanks to his performances for the Northern Warriors.

5. Joe Root - 3614 - Was technically in action this week although he did not bat nor bowl in the heavily curtailed England Warm-Up Game. He has not been this low on the list since the second week of the year.

Ones to Watch

Ravichandran Ashwin and Peter Siddle are in 8th and 9th and have 71 points between them. They will both be looking upwards to see who can overtake the inactive Nicholas Pooran who has a lead of just 158 over them.

3. Joe Root - 157.13 (Down from 164.27)

It seems VERY harsh to call the England Warm-Up game an active week but thems the rules. Subsequently Ben Stokes' return to cricket has seen his average dip by 8.4 as he did nothing. Moeen's average bumps up 7.37 to 136.96.
