Kane Williamson - The Best Cricketer of the Week

After the profligate last fortnights worth of updates only 807 points were shared between 7 cricketers this week - only merits a Top Three in my eyes.

Weekly Top 3

1. Kane Williamson - 277 - Featured in his first red Ball match of the year this week and hardly looked like he had been away by scoring 154 points to add to his 123 from a T20 Blast game against Glamorgan. Up to 8th Overall.

2. Nat Sciver-Brunt - 179 - Back to decent scores with the bat after her injury niggles that knocked her out of the back end of the T20 series. Got 119 runs across the two ODIs this week.

3. Sam Curran - 144 - Can't keep Curran down this Summer. After having done so well with the bat thus far, he chips in with a four-fer before the T20 Blast hiatus. He also reclaims the highest Short Form Point scorer from Nicholas Pooran.

Overall Top 5

1. Sam Curran - 2880 - Curran marks his ninth successive week of triple figure scores with his second week in top spot. He has 166 points on second place.

2. Liam Dawson - 2714 - Inactive this week but in anticipation of Test points next week.

3. Jos Buttler - 2550 - Only 9 points in the final game before the break for the T20 Blast but holds third place for a successive week.

4. Nat Sciver-Brunt - 2500 - Two decent ODIs sees her address her descent down the list and move back up into 4th.

5. Ravinfra Jadeja - 2415 - Inactive this week but is facing zero pressure below him - he has 441 points between himself and the next active player; Phil Salt in 7th.

Other Movers

Salt would be especially diapointed with just 70 points from a T20 game and a First class outing - but he still manages to move up a place into 7th.

Top 3 Averages

1. Sam Curran - 160 (Down from 160.94)
2. Chamari Athapaththu -143.6
3. Nat Sciver-Brunt – 142.69

Williamson's big haul sees his average improve by 10.12 points - he nwo has a very decent 115.18 a werk. Buttler's poor week sees his avergae drop to 127.7 - a reduction of 6.24.

Travis Head - The Best Cricketer of the Week

A huge point scoring week this week with the top 6 all scoring more than 200.

Weekly Top 5

1. Travis Head - 346 - His highest score of the year comes courtesy of the bowlers of Major League Cricket. This is, surprisingly , his first Cricketer of the Week accolade; becoming the 16th recipient across the year.

2. Chamari Athapaththu - 330 - Straight back into action and straight back into breaking records. This time courtesy of 119 against Malaysia in the Women's Asia Cup.

3. Glenn Maxwell - 268 - Unlike his other Washington Freedom players, The Big Show only played two Major League Cricket games this week but made massive impacts in both; a three wicket haul against Texas Super Kings and a half century off 23 balls versus the San Francisco Unicorns.

4. Harry Brook - 245 - Continued his imperious start to Test cricket with a century in the second innings of the second Test against the West Indies. Moves up a place on the overall list to 18th.

5. Rachin Ravindra - 240 - Is in the top 5, almost exclusively, for his bowling this week with 2 four-fers in Major League Cricket across his three games this week. He got 20 runs across those three games.

Overall Top 5

1. James Vince - 2959 - Kickstarted his Hundred seasons positively with a half century but is definitely looking over his shoulder.

2. Chamari Athapaththu - 2904 - Her Women's Asia Cup heroics sees her back up to second place - and with a not inconsiderable gap between her and third.

3. Babar Azam - 2647 - Azam's Top 5 aspirations were dealt a bitter blow this week with the PCB blocking his request to turn out in the Global T20 Canada tournament. 384 points separate him from 6th.

4. Travis Head - 2567 - His highest score of the year sees him up a place to fourth this week. He only needs 80 points in the Major League Cricket final would see him move up to third.

5. Marnus Labuschagne - 2384 - Despite his best bowling figures in his final T20 Blast game for Glamorgan, Marnus still moves down a spot. A spell away from cricket awaits him now.

Other Movers

Despite mediocre scores of 164 and 54 respectively, Moeen Ali and Sam Curran both moved up a place this week. Curran moves into 11th with Moeen occupying 15th.

Ones to Watch

It's a straight shoot out between Sam Curran for the Oval Invincibles and Glenn Maxwell for Washington Freedom. They both have one game and have just three points between them.

Top Three Averages

1. Chamari Athapaththu - 193.6 (Up from 183.86)
2. Babar Azam - 155.71
3. Marnus Labuschagne - 132.44 (Up from 131.41)

Steve Smith's average improves the most - up 13.67 - drawing him away from the foot of the table. Meanwhile Usman Khawaja, who was already bottom, is even worse off; down 10.77 to 56.83.

Sam Curran - The Best Cricketer of the Week

Weekly Top 5

1. Sam Curran - 301 - Before this week, Curran's best score of the week was 176, this week he nearly doubled that courtesy of 161 runs in 2 games in the T20 Blast. Becomes the third player to win three Cricketers of the Week across more than one year alongside Head and Handscomb.

2. Travis Head - 208 - Two identical scores in two MLC games this week. He scored 54 at a SR of 150+ scoring 104 points against Los Angeles and then scored 54 at a SR of 150+ scoring 104 points against New York. Consistent.

3. Moeen Ali - 195 - Enjoying his domestic cricket once more...but has very much been helped by the fact he has played three games across the week. His high point was 59 off the bat against Derbyshire.

4. Marnus Labuschagne - 173 - Continues his love affair with the English domestic game with his fourth successive score of 100 or more. Since joining up with Glamorgan he has averaged 171.77 points a week.

5. Yashasvi Jaiswal - 165 - Was lighting up our lists on a week by week basis before his total omission from a majority of the T20 World Cup. Is now back in fine fettle most notably in his score of 93 against Zimbabwe this week.

Overall Top 5

1. James Vince - 2833 - A second week in top spot this week courtesy of his fifth 100+ scoring week since the start of the English Domestic season.

2. Babar Azam - 2647 - Only bottom placed Usman Khawaja has been inactive longer than Babar Azam, he spends another week in second after losing top spot last week.

3. Chamari Athapaththu - 2574 - Inactive again this week but will be back in action in the Women's Asia Cup this week. Will be looking up the table rather than down due to the 73 point gap to 2nd slightly more pressing than the 320 gap below her.

4. Marnus Labuschagne - 2254 - Has inflated his total by 1546 in the ten weeks since the start of the English Domestic season. Jumps up another place to 4th.

5. Travis Head - 2221 - Spent a solitary week out of 5th spot before reclaiming it again this week. He has spent 6 weeks in 5th place this year. Three further weeks and he usurps Jadeja who has spent 9 weeks there.

Other Movers

Rachin Ravindra moves up two places to 10th whilst Phil Salt nudges further back into the Top Ten again; up one to 9th.

Top Three Averages

1. Chamari Athapaththu - 183.86
2. Babar Azam - 155.71
3. Jos Buttler - 131.5

Sam Curran improves his average by 12.15 thanks to his stellar week - after a pretty unstellar year. Aaron Hardie is the only player shoe average goes down - decreasing by 2.7 to 73.25; the second to worst average of anyone.
