Moeen Ali - The Best Cricketer of the Week

Weekly Top 5

1. Moeen Ali - 253 - There's been a lot of chat about the T20 Franchise carousel this week and Moeen Ali is certain one of the horses that benefits the most from it. Straight from the SA20 to BPL 2024 and right back in the thick of the points.

2. Glenn Maxwell - 242 - Brought back echoes of his huge World Cup knock this week with a scorching 55 ball 120 in the 2nd T20 versus West Indies. His highest score of 2024 sees him move up to 6th in the Overall List...and 10 points off 4th.

3. Rachin Ravindra - 209 - Fresh off his huge score in the first Test, RR doubles up with a very different but similarly eye-catching performance in the second. This time it was with the ball that he most impressed - picking up three quarters of his points with ball in hand.

4. James Vince - 208 - Refuses to stop scoring runs. Played 3 T20 games this week and got 50s in two of them (admittedly slightly blotted his copy book with a duck in the other one). He is now straight on the plane to Karachi to continue his world tour in PSL 2024.

5. Phil Salt - 146 - The step down from a second tier T20 competition (SA20) to a fourth tier one (ILT20) sees Phil Salt score his highest score to date. The fact that is only in the mid hundreds tells a tale of it's own - however he moves up the Overall List to 14th.

Overall Top 5

1. James Vince - 963 - The top run scorer from the ILT20 league also takes control of the Overall List this week. Is ,perhaps, a surprise candidate to be our first player to tick over to a thousand points but here we are. Now onto the PSL.

2. Babar Azam - 893 - Inactive this week but Babar has made an absolute killing in the PSL in previous years. Just 70 points separates him from top spot so he could be back on the top of the tree very shortly.

3. Jos Buttler - 798 - Inactive this week and, from what I can see, for many more weeks to come. How far will Buttler fall?

4. Rachin Ravindra - 667 - Was in bottom spot a fortnight ago and in two great leaps is now up there at the top table. Can he now perform in the T20 series against Australia to really mark his card as an all format cricketer?

5. Moeen Ali - 662 - Top scores for the week and moves up 7(!!) places to make his debut in the Top 5....however it is very close with Glenn Maxwell just 5 points below him and Jaiswal another 6 points below that.

Other Movers

Two Aussies, in the form of Labuschagne & Marsh, score two similarly modest scores (94 & 86) but both move up 3 places to 17th and 10th respectively.

Top 3 Average Points per Active Week

1. Jos Buttler - 199.5
2. Babar Azam - 178.6
3. Rachin Ravindra - 166.75 (Up from 152.67)

Moeen Ali's average went from being OK (102.25) to very good (132.4) largely thanks to his one performance against Chattogram. Aaron Hardie's post-BBL malaise continues as he drops 5.1 points and is down to 66.57 a week - the third worst average of anyone.

Ravindra Jadeja - The Best Cricketer of the Week

More active cricketers this week - but only a handful of big scores. the average score this week was a mere 85 points.

Weekly Update

1. Ravindra Jadeja - 320 - Only played in 2 game weeks of this year but has got over 250 points in each outing. This week was impressive for its all-round dominance. Moves up 3 places to ninth on the overall List.

2. Moeen Ali - 146 - Moeen has really upped his franchise game of late. Over the last 2 months he played in the International League T20 either side of the England v South Africa games. He was then parachuted into the BPL to help Comilla lift the title.

3. Babar Azam - 117 - PSL 2023 sees Azam play for a different franchise however will be a huge points booster for the Pakistan captain. That being said, despite the third highest score of the week, he still stays 13th overall - 85 points from Curran in 12th.

4. Rashid Khan - 83 - Had one of those weeks where you feel like his points should have been higher. A pair of braces for Rashid was not backed up by any other points - even from economy points, traditionally one of his strong suits.

5. Pat Cummins - 77 - A disappointing start to the IND v AUS series but he was the standout contributor of the three Aussies we have.

Overall Update

Not much to report here really. 4 out of our Top 5 were inactive with Shakib Al Hasan being the only cricketer to feature. His 51 points him 134 points off Buttler in second and 211 away from Conway in 4th.

Shubman Gill 1179
Jos Buttler 1139
Shakib Al Hasan 1005
Devon Conway 794
Hardik Pandya 793

Other Movers

Marco Jansen makes it two weeks in a row where he doesn't perform hugely well but still moves up. This week it is 33 points in the SA20 final that sees him up to 6th.

Top 3 Averages

1. Ravindra Jadeja - 305
2. Shubman Gill
3. Jos Buttler 227.8

Moeen Ali is this week's most improved average as he goes up by 13 and a quarter points to 93 points a week. Usman Khawaja's bubble bursts as he leaks 31 points on his average and is down to 130 a week.

Moeen Ali - The Best Cricketer of the Week

A huge amount of cricket has been played last week - with 5 players in action on Friday alone....but who prevailed in the battle for number one spot this week?

Weekly Top 5

1. Moeen Ali - 328 - He played 4 games of BPL 2022 cricket this week which will always help boost the score - but he went big in two of them to give him his second highest score of all time and the highest score of 2022 thus far.

2. Mohammad Rizwan - 249 - Is in phenomenal form in PSL 2022 and is averaging 84.22 points a match. Seems an unstoppable force at the moment. Will be a frightening prospect in the T20 World Cup.

3. Babar Azam - 213 - Played double the amount of cricket this week than the other two PSL 2022 players on our List and finishes in a decent third place finish. Could have done better you feel. a

4. Quinton De Kock - 183 - Another Top 5 finish thanks to weight of games more than any huge performances. It does mark his third Top 5 finish for the year so far. Mr Consistent.

5. Glenn Maxwell - 182 - In a year of ups and downs for Maxwell, his 182 is something of a middling yield. He rounds off the top 5 for the week with a comfortable gap between himself and Rishabh Pant in 6th who got under half the points Maxwell did.

Yearly Top 5

1. Moeen Ali - 944 - If you are in second place and score 300+ points it is very likely you will take top spot - and such was the case for Moeen. He is the fourth person to take the Number One baton in 2022.

2. Mohammad Rizwan - 758 - Up 4 places and making his debut in the Top 5. And you cannot begrudge him of it with the way he is playing.

=3. Rishabh Pant - 730 - Down two places after his week at the Top Spot. He was below par this week despite his match winning knock against West Indies on Friday.

=3. Glenn Maxwell - 730 - Retains third place this week (but has to share it with Rishabh Pant) thanks to his last two performances in Aus v SL. Has only spent 1 week outside the Top 5 in 2022.

5. Quinton De Kock - 704 - A third consecutive week in 5th spot despite all the mayhem around him. Something of a gap opening up between the Top 5 and the chasing pack too. There is 157 points between him and Babar Azam in 6th.

Other Movers

The gap between 10th and 17th is very tightly packed with nobody more than 34 points away from their nearest rival. This means that a fairly inconsequential score can see big movement. This was the case with Travis Head; up 3 to 13th despite just 56 points.

Top 3 Averages

1. Simon Harmer = 263
2. Mohammad Rizwan= 189.5 (Up from 169.67)
3. Moeen Ali = 188.8 (Up from 154)

Moeen's jolly good week sees his, already very good, aveage swell by 34.8 points leaving him with the third highest average this year. Pat Cummins' average takes another hit. After going down by 65.83 last week, it has shrunk a further 26.92 this week.
