Ravindra Jadeja - The Best Cricketer of the Week

Only Williamson, Zampa, Curran and Buttler not in action this week as we see our second highest week of point scoring of 2025.

Weekly Top 5

1. Ravindra Jadeja - 280 - For the second week in a row an Indian player graces the top of the List despite their humbling defeat to South Africa. More points with the ball than the bat this week for Jadeja.

2. Phil Salt - 252 - Might denigrate Phil Salt's achievements in the Abu Dhabi T20 but across his 5 games this week he has scored above 30 in three of them and scored at a Strike Rate above 200 runs a ball. That's not nothing.

3. Travis Head- 204 -His match winning knock against a very poor England team feels like it was worth at least double his 204 points this week.....but rules are rules and here he sits. He didn't even move off 18th place overall.

4. Babar Azam - 180 - Three innings for Pakistan this week; two bad ones (16 & 0) and one very good one (74). 4th places seems about right for that. Moves up a place to 20th as a reward too.

5. Pathum Nissanka - 173 - Was a whisker away from his second T20I century but was not to be. Backed it up with two underwhelming performances with the bat in 2 matches against Pakistan to squeak into 5th.

Overall Top 5

1. Sam Curran - 4266 - Inactive for a third week. His cushion in first place snow 259 points.

2. Nat Sciver-Brunt - 4007 - Has been chipping away at the top 3 since the start of the World Cup and finally overhauls 2nd place despite an unassuming 119 this week,

3. Jos Buttler - 3912 - Inactive and MIGHT just be inactive for the rest of the year. Might he finish the year outside the Top 5.

4. Liam Dawson - 3847 - 50 points this week saw him only just hold on to 4th spot. It has been 26 weeks since Dawson was outside the Top 4.

5. Ravindra Jadeja - 3810 - The highest score of the week only moved Jadeja away from 6th place by a dramatic margin. The 489 points between him and Sutherland is the largest gap on the List.

Ones To Watch

There are two pairs pf Cricketers all within one point of each other who will be playing this week. Firstly Delhi's Phil Salt will look to reel in Melbourne's Annabel Sutherland in 6th. Meanwhile Titans' Heinrich Klaasen will want to hold off England's Jamie Smith to hold 15th.

Other Movers

Klaasen moves up two places into 15th whilst Hasaranga edges into 14th.

Top 3 Averages

1. Sam Curran - 147.1
2. Ravindra Jadeja = 141.11 (Up from 135.77)
3. Annabel Sutherland - 138.38 (Down from 143.13)

Jadeja skips past third place to become the second highest player in terms of average. Athapaththu drops out of thetop three after leaking 7.91 thanks to a shortened WBBL game.

Harry Brook - The Best Cricketer of the Week

Weekly Top 5

1. Harry Brook - 241 - The man of the moment is the man of the week with yet another ton. Surprisingly this is only his this Cricketer of the Week from his 26 active weeks in 2024. You would imagine we will be seeing more of him going into our 2025 Lists.

2. Moeen Ali - 173 - Last played for Guyana almost 2 months ago and then clocks back in for the same unit in the Global T20 League. 4 games in a week will always give you a bit of a boost. Moeen is the ultimate yo-yo-er and is back up to 11th on the Overall List.

3. Daryl Mitchell - 123 - Making hay in the antipodean sun whilst he has been scrabbling around in the dirt for most of the year. This is his second successive active week in the Top 5.

4. James Vince - 116 - Finishes his jolly up in Abu Dhabi having scored 484 in three weeks. Now onto the BBL; starting next weekend.

5. Shubman Gill - 80 - Hard to read much from this. Retired 50* in a two day Test warm-up game that was reduced to one day and was played the week after the First Test was over. Still enough for him to move up to 15th Overall.

Overall Top 5

1. Chamari Athapaththu - 4681 - I could be wrong (it has been known) but I think that this might be Athapaththu's final total. I cannot see anymore cricket on the horizon for her in 2024. It doesn't feel enough for our first female cricketer to finish first.

2. James Vince - 4454 - Vince will finish second of first this year. 768 points sperate him to third and he has 4 BBL games between now and New Years Eve to overthrow the 227 point gap on first. He averages 80.25 per T20 game.

3. Travis Head - 3686 - Another week's rest (if that's the right word for a father of a month old baby. Back in action next week.

4. Phil Salt - 3569 - Did not end the Abu Dhabi T10 competition with the pyrotechnics we saw throughout the rest of the tournament but keeps his fourth place spot.

5. Sam Curran - 3460 - Inactive again...you feel he may finish 2024 outside the Top 5. Jaiswal is 233 points away from him, Labuschagne 253, Jadeja 348 and Brook 360.

Other Mover

45 points in the 'warm-up' game against an Australian Prime Minister's XI was enough to see him overtake Labuschagne into 8th.

Top Three Averages

1. Chamari Athapaththu - 167.18
2. Jos Buttler - 140.05 (Down from 143.26)
3. Ravindra Jadeja - 129.67 (Down from 132.39)

Seems cruel, if not also very funny, that Kohli not batting or fielding gets him 0 points in a warm up game and sees his average drop by a smidge over 4 points to 93.92. Harry Brook's goes up the most, +4.87 to 119.23.

James Vince - The Best Cricketer of the Week

Weekly Top 5

1. James Vince - 311 - Doing big things in the Abu Dhabi T10 tournament. Is the ninth highest scorer with 148 runs with an average strike rate of 187.34. Basically whenever he plays you're guaranteed at least 50 points. Is guaranteed at least one more game and might have a further 4.

2. Yashasvi Jaiswal - 201 - Got the feeling that his score of 161 was a defining innings in his burgeoning career. Despite that it is only worth silver medal this week. He does move up a place to 8th this week, over-taking his inactive Indian team mate Ravindra Jadeja.

3. Phil Salt - 196 - Registers his fourth three figure score in a row. Has got 892 points in the last month across his 20 over and 10 over commitments with England and Team Abu Dhabi. Started the year slowly but sure is finishing it strongly.

4. Virat Kohli - 155 - A century sees Kohli back in the Top 5 for the first time since July. Such has been his poor form that this is his highest score since May's Yearly Best 244.

5. Mitchell Marsh - 155 - It is telling how bad a 2024 Marsh has had when this is his third highest score of the year. 53 runs and 3 wickets in the loss to India was just enough to keep Jos Buttler in 6th place. He moves up a place on the Overall list to 19th.

Overall Top 5

1. Chamari Athapaththu - 4681 - Registering decent, if not spectacular numbers in the WBBL. Holds top spot for a seventh week. Only Azam's 20 weeks in first place have been longer.

2. James Vince - 4338 - Despite registering the 16th highest score of the year, Vince stays in second place and can only slash the gap on first to 343. More impressively the gap to third place stands at 652.

3. Travis Head - 3686 - Followed up his 6 week absence for cricket with a decent, if not rather underwhelming, 140. Lot of cricket in him yet this year though.

4. Phil Salt - 892 points in a month has seen him go from 13th to 4th. Quite the jump for a guy who took 5 months to break in the Top 10.

5. Sam Curran - Inactive this week and down a place to 5th; his lowest position for 15 weeks. Things could get even worse as he is just 121 points ahead of the next active player Marnus Labuschagne in 7th.

Other Movers

Despite Harry Brook's fairly anodyne 79 against a New Zealand Prime Minister's XI, he still manages to move up 2 places; overtaking the inactive Rachin Ravindra and Simon Harmer,

Top Three Averages

1. Chamari Athapaththu - 167.18 (Down from 168.44)
2. Jos Buttler -143.26 (Up from 142.83)
3. Ravindra Jadeja - 132.39.

James Vince average improves the most up by an impressive 5.44 to 1205, whilst Marnus' poor start to the BGT sees his average decrease to the tune of 3.53. He currently stands at 123.35 a week.
