Babar Azam - The Best Cricketer of the Week

Weekly Update

1. Babar Azam - 322 - Bat for that long and score that big you are going to do rather well on The List. This is his eight Cricketer of the Week award; the joint fourth of all time alongside Virat Kohli and Rashid Khan.

2. Rishabh Pant - 229 - Filling out the Strike Rate column rather nicely this week to gain yet another Top 5 finish. The Indian has been prolific this year.

3. Jonny Bairstow - 185 - Another century for Jonny sees him back in the Top 5 for the week. Has featured in three weeks of action this week and has finished in the Top 5 each time. Moves up two places to joint 11th

4. Pat Cummins - 174 - Not prolific in terms of wickets this year, but his economy is keeping him buoyed up. Retains 9th on the Overall List

5. Joe Root - 172 - A second successive Weekly Top 5 finish for Joe. Working his way back into 2021 form. Moves up a place to joint 11th overall.

Overall Top 5

1. Mohammad Rizwan - 1194 - There is not many times you score three figures and finish 8th for the week; however Rizwan keeps his lead at teht op - currently standing at 61.

2. Rishabh Pant - 1133 - The second player to cross the 1000 point barrier and there is now a little gap opened up between him and third. Last had second spot for a solitary week in Week 2.

3. Babar Azam - 911 - The 2020 Cricketer of the Year and the 2021 Bronze medallist moves into the Top 5 for the first time this year, surprisingly off the back of Test form - the weakest string to his bow.

4. Moeen Ali - 944 - A month's worth of inactivity has caught up with Moeen as he drops two places. Could be back in action next week for Worcestershire.

5. Quinton De Kock - 920 - Three weeks in 5th spot, three weeks in 3rd spot, Quinton now drops down to 5th again. Can he hold that for three weeks?

Other Movers

So many big scorers this week means a lot of movement lower than the top 5.

Jamieson's 152 moves him up a spot to 6th, whilst Stokes' 169 sees him into 14th.

The most surprising mover is Hasan Ali who only got 100 but is up 2 to 15th.

Ones to Watch

It doesn't get any closer than team mates Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow who are both locked on 515 points with a Test in play.

Top 3 Averages

1. Simon Harmer = 217.5 (Down from 280.67)
2. Moeen Ali = 188.8
3. Jonny Bairstow - 171.67 (Up from 165)

Such was Harmer's comically large average, a drop of 63.17 points still sees him nearly 30 points on average higher than second placed Moeen. Babar Azam's masterclass improves his average by 30.79 points to 130.14.

Moeen Ali - The Best Cricketer of the Week

It has been a very busy week at the business end of our table. 11 of our top 12 were active this week and none of the bottom 6 featured at all.

Who were the big movers of the week?

Weekly

1. Moeen Ali - 287 - After a quiet start to BPL 2022, kicked it up a gear with 46 runs against Sylhet and 75 runs and two wickets on Friday versus Khulna. This is his second highest weekly total in his 13 months on the lists.

2. Mohammad Rizwan - 266 - His performances have been tailing away slightly as the week has gone on but his huge score against Peshawar made up 65% of his weekly total.

3. Rishabh Pant - 225 - Pant is a sporadic performer but when he goes big he strikes gold. His third ODI against the West Indies gives him enough for third place.

4. Kyle Jamieson - 158 - Back in action for Auckland before joining back up with the national team, Jamieson kept his eye in with his third successive three figure score.

5. Quinton De Kock - 152 - Not available for South Africa, QDK is turning out for the Titans in his favourite format of T20. He disappointed against the Warriors but went big vs Boland to see him finish fifth for the week.

Overall

1. Rishabh Pant - 640 - Pant spent all of January in second or third place, dropped down to fourth for the first week in February but has now jumped up 3 places to top spot as the most impressive Cricketer of the Year so far.

2. Moeen Ali - 616 - His rich vein of T20 form in BPL 2022 has seen Moeen move up into second position. This is his highest ever berth on our List.

3. Glenn Maxwell - 548 - The Big Show was inactive for three weeks and held on to his top spot. On his return to cricket, he scores 7 points versus Sri Lanka and moves down to third. Should have stayed at home!

4. Simon Harmer - 526 - Inactive for the week and down two places to 4th.

5. Quinton De Kock - 521 - Uncharacteristically, QDK is the eye of the storm this week. Whilst every other member of the Top Ten moved position, he remained static in 5th spot.

Ones to Watch

Two of our powerhouse bowlers are both in action this week in different formats and with a lot to play for. Cummins sits just 2 points above Jamieson with a series of T20s to play versus Sri Lanka. Will Jamieson's Test form give him the edge and return him into the top 5?

Top Three Averages

1. Simon Harmer - 263
2. Quinton De Kock - 173.67 (Down from 184.5)
3. Mohammad Rizwan - 169.67 (Up from 121.5)

Some huge swings this week. Mohammad Rizwan takes a huge jump of 48.17 whilst Pat Cummins goes from the dizzying highs of Test cricket to the low yields of T20s and sheds 65.83 points from his average. He now sits on 153.67.

Glenn Maxwell - The Best Cricketer of the Week

Weekly Top Five

1. Glenn Maxwell - 262 - Like busses, Maxwell has waited all year for a Cricketer of the Week accolade and gets 2 in succession. It is the seventh time he has won ever - only Stokes, Harmer and Rashid Khan have won more.

2. Virat Kohli - 205 - Believe it or not this is the first time that Kohli has re-entered the Top Ten since March. His big knocks for India against Australia gave seen him pick up 504 points in the last 3 weeks.

3. Steve Smith - 140 - A slightly above average score for Steve Smith. He holds 8th for the second week in a row on the Overall List in what has been quite an inconsistent year. Flashes of brilliance amongst some fairly anonymous performances.

4. Martin Guptill - 136 - Guptill continues a trend of under-performing for New Zealand before returning to the green green grasses of Auckland and playing out of his skin. Two decent scores in the Ford Trophy sees him move up a place for the second week in a row.

5. Travis Head - 120 - An unusual week for Head as he finishes in the Top 5 for the week but scored 83.34% of his points for the week with the ball. Under performed with the bat at just the wrong time for international duties.

All Time Top 5

1. Babar Azam - 3082 - A final gameless week for Azam and he is still in top spot. The non-completion of Sa vs Eng aided the Pakistan captain bigtime. With two more weeks in the year his lead is 127. We might just be looking at our Cricketer of the Year.

2. Ben Stokes - 2955 - An unexpected week of no appearances sees Stokes hold second place. It is now five weeks since the Durham man lost his top spot.

3. Joe Root - 2512 - 204 and 205 points now separate Joe Root from Aaron Finch and Jason Holder. After seeming so confident about him finishing on the podium, could the West Indian push him to the end?

4. Aaron Finch - 2305 - A score of just 10 for the week sees Finch hold on to fourth spot by the narrowest of narrow margins. A successful early BBL campaign may see him progress further.

5. Jason Holder - 2304 - Despite only scoring 83 this week and suffering a humiliating defeat to New Zealand, Holder has moved up two places this week and finds himself just 1 point off of 4th spot.
