Quinton De Kock - The Best Cricketer of the Week

Weekly

1. Quinton De Kock - 273 - Last week I pinpointed Quinton De Kock as a man to watch. He has not let me down. He has registered two 50+ scores at greater than 150 SR across his three CPL games this week. This is his third Cricketer of the Week this year.

2. Steve Smith - 185 - A man of the series accolade used to be small fry for Steve Smith but stands out as an achievement these days. His first century in many a long moon and he reaches the dizzying heights of 18th on our overall list.

3. Ben Stokes - 126 - No points for brave captaincy lamentably but Stokes ends the English summer with another three figure Test match. He hasn't had many huge scores this year but it is inarguable he is becoming a hugely influential figure in the world game.

4. Matt Critchley - 125 - Another appearance in the weekly Top 5 for Matt Critchley who seems to be revelling in the absence of Simon Harmer and his post Hundred glow.

5. Bhanuka Rajapaksa - 121 - Really pulled it out of the bag as the Asia Cup went on and produced one of his finest T20 performances in the final. Just tips into the Top 5.

Overall

1. Simon Harmer - 4303 - Another week inactive for Harmer but is expected back into the fray against Lancashire on Tuesday.

2. Mohammad Rizwan - 3456 - A decent performance in a losing attempt in the Asia Cup final sees him open up a 319-point gap from third place as we approach the series against England. Looking good money to finish up the top of the table this year.

3. Moeen Ali - 3137 - Inactive this week ....but so was fourth spot so that slender lead stays in place.

4. Rishabh Pant - 3121 - Might have made it back into the Top 3 if India had of progressed in the Asia Cup but alas remain in fourth.

5. Quinton De Kock - 2969 - Has spent 11 weeks out of the Top 5. In that time, he has been yo-yo-ing between 6th and 11th. This week the yo-yo has reached its zenith has he rejoins the Top 5.

Top Three Averages

1. Simon Harmer = 204.91
2. Ben Stokes = 151.33 (Down from 152.82)
3. Babar Azam = 140.35 (Down from 146.95)

For the third week in a row, Babar Azam's average drops the most. This time it was a significant amount - down 6.6. Steve Smith improves the most - up 6.41 to 101.64

Glenn Maxwell - The Best Cricketer of the Week

 Weekly

1. Glenn Maxwell - Maxwell has been devoid of the massive huge scores that he registered in his 2019 winning season - however pulled a blinder with a 4-fer against New Zealand in what is turning out to be a very odd series. It is his first Cricketer of the Week nod for 2022.

2. Matt Critchley - 180 - Has brought his form from The Hundred back to Essex where he has registered his second-best score of the County Championship season.

3. KL Rahul - 176 - Injury has held Rahul back this year. He was the highest point scorer in the IPL and got as high as 10th before being inactive for 3 months. He's underwhelmed in the Asia Cup but one decent score vs Afghanistan sees him finish 3rd and move up to 16th overall.

4. David Warner - 169 - One big score can get you into the Top 5 this week and Warner got his in the final game against Zimbabwe. Sees him up a place to 13th - his second improvement in 2 weeks. He has a larger gap of 369 to Matt Critchley in 12th.

5. Mohammad Rizwan - 161 - His performances have been on the wain as the Asia Cup has progressed but just keeps his eye in enough to get to fifth place.

Overall

1. Simon Harmer - 4303 - Another inactive week has seen Harmer's lead on second place drop to a mere 3 figures. His lead of 932 points is the lowest it has been in 2 months.

2. Mohammad Rizwan - 3371 - Is starting to make second place his own. His lead on third position is now 234; the 5th highest gap on the List as a whole and still has one more Asia Cup game in the bank.

3. Moeen Ali - 3137 - Inactive this week before a flurry of T20 cricket in Pakistan and then Australia. Could be a big mover through to the very end of the year.

4. Rishabh Pant - You can file Pant's Asia Cup campaign under disappointment. Just 71 points across the tournament compared to 346 for Mohammad Rizwan. He has really let an opportunity slip away.

5. Glenn Maxwell - 2979 - Maxwell returns to the Top 5 for the first time in 5 weeks, unperching Azam and ending his three week stay at the top table.

Other Movers

Since Quinton De Kock left the Top 5 nine weeks ago he has been in all the places from 6th to 11th and changed his direction of travel 4 times. This week he is up 3 to 7th despite only finishing seventh for the week.

Ones To Watch

Quinton is also one to watch now he has joined up with the CPL. The sheer weight of games in that tournament could see him muscled his way back into the Top 5.

Top Three Averages

1. Simon Harmer = 204.91
2. Ben Stokes = 152.82
3. Babar Azam = 146.95 (Down from 151)

For the second week in a row, Babar Azam is the biggest loser in terms of points per active week, he has Matt Critchley (averaging 135.94) breathing down his neck. Bhanuka Rajapaksa remembering how to bat has seen his average up by 3.71 but - at 71.46 - he has the second lowest average of anyone on the List.
