Chamari Athapaththu - the Best Cricketer of the Week

Back to a high scoring week this week before what is going to be a Geo-Politically very quiet week next week

Weekly Top 5

1. Chamari Athapaththu - 245 - Following the playbook from last year - long periods absent from the game and then some huge haymaking while the sun shines. Only Nat Sciver Brunt has had more Cricketers of the Week this year - this is her third.

2. Liam Dawson - His first big scoring week in the County Championship courtesy of a five-fer and his full compliment of economy points against Durham. Breaks into the Top Ten for the first time since the end of the SA20.

3. Jos Buttler - 194 - 94 runs across two innings gives Buttler third place in a week where he also overtakes Nat Sciver Brunt as the highest run scorer on the List.

4. Ravindra Jadeja - 176 - After a slow start to the tournament, Jadeja has burst into life of late with three back to back 3 figure scoring weeks. Only Buttler and SKY have scored more than him in that time.

5. Babar Azam - 141 - Back to looking like he might have seen a cricket bat at some point in his life in at least one innings this week. 53 versus Islamabad this week sees him ease into the Top 5 for the week despite letting himself down (again) in the game against Multan.

Overall Top 5

1. Ravindra Jadeja - 1686 - Despite being in our Lists for 4 years, Jadeja has never graced top spot until this week. His slow burning IPL campaign has seen him ease into top spot with a 36 point lead.

2. Nat Sciver-Brunt - 1650 - Parenthood is an amazing thing...but it doesn't score you many points. After 7 inactive weeks, NSB loses her 10 week reign at the top of the List.

3. Jos Buttler - 1510 - The fifth highest run scorer in the IPL and the highest run scorer in our List moves up a place to third after yet another half century this week.

4. Nicholas Pooran - 1433 - After scoring 528 points in the first three weeks of the IPL he has now scored 103 in the last three weeks to see him down a place this week to 4th.

5. Chamari Athapaththu - 1365 - Lost her Top 5 place a month ago and slipped as low as 11th last week but a bumper week for the Sri Lanka captain moves her back into 5th spot.

Ones to Watch

With the IPL being suspended for at least a week, it is a chance for Liam Dawson to do some damage on the Top 10. Currently he is tenth but a mere 158 points separate him and Chamari Athapaththu in 5th.

Other Movers

Meagre scores from Mumabi's SKY and Bumrah this week but they both move up a spot. SKY is in 8th with Bumrah up to 20th.

Top 3 Averages

1. Nat Sciver-Brunt - 165
2. Chamari Athapaththu - 151.67 (Up from 140)
3. Sam Curran = 134.56 (Down from 147)

In a rare occurence the two most noteable movers on the average table are in the Top 3. Athapaththu moves back into the Top 3 courtesy of a 11.67 point boost to her average whilst Curran drops 12.44

Travis Head - The Best Cricketer of the Week

After a few lean weeks, normal service has been resumed in a massive way with some gigantic hauls from our players.

Weekly Top 5

1. Travis Head - 325 - Two very impactful innings this week. His 154 in the first ODI grabbed the headlines but did big things in the second T20I with a 14 ball 31.

2. Marnus Labuschagne - 247 - Was not definitely going to be included in the first ODI against England before illness struck down a number of the squad......certainly made mark with 77 runs and three wickets.

3. Babar Azam - 229 - Two more massive innings from Babar in the Champions One Day Cup. Won't be worth much to the critics but is his highest score for 18 weeks.

4. James Vince - 171 - Is ending his County Championship season in very decent form; this week scoring 101 runs against Worcestershire. One more game and a little break away from the game before some BBL cricket as his 2024 swansong.

5. Sam Curran - 169 - Decides that he likes a bit of red ball cricket these days. Turns out for Surrey as they lift the County Championship for the third year on the bounce. Will be disappointed with his performance with the bat but got 5 wickets in the match to see him in fifth.

Overall Top 5

1. James Vince - 3873 - Back into first place after three weeks away. Has one more County Championship game to open up a big lead on those below him but is certainly the odds on favourite to be a surprise Cricketer of the Year for 2024.

2. Chamari Athapaththu - 3753 - Three weeks inactive was too much for the Sri Lankan to hope to hold onto the crown for. Two more weeks until the Women's T20 World Cup though.

3. Travis Head - 3203 - The Autralian's week topping score sees him up a place into third. Third is his highest position of the year.

4. Sam Curran - 3156 - Despite finishing in the Top 5 this week, Curran still moves down a spot to fourth.

5. Babar Azam - 3056 - Handy points in the Champions One Day Cup sees him open up 377 points on 6th place Simon Harmer. Only three gaps are bigger on our List.

Ones to Watch

With India in the midst of Test match against Bangladesh there is a little gap window between Gill in 14th and Jadeja in 17th with just 127 points in it. The players in between them are brook and Kohli who will also be in action.

Other Movers

Moeen Ali has a funny little habit of performing averagely and still moving up a place. This week he scored just 94 yet still moves up to 11th.

Top Three Averages

1. Chamari Athapaththu - 187.65
2. Babar Azam - 145.52 (Up from 141.35)
3. Marnus Labuschagne - 138.47 (Up from 132.44)

Mitch Marsh already had the third lowest score of anyone on the list and leaked a further 3.73 points this week to move down to 73.33. Travis Head moves up 7.94 points to 118.59.

James Vince - The Best Cricketer of the Week

Many of you will be surprised to hear that this week's total of 2061 points is the highest points tally of any week in 2024. Let's see who the Top 5 are in a week where you needed more than 200 points to get into fifth place.

Weekly Top 5

1. James Vince - 358 - Has underwhelmed in the English Domestic game this season and has been a huge flop in the T20 Blast. Surprisingly the return to Red Ball Cricket is where he hits his straps again with his highest total to date and his first Cricketer of the Week award.

2. Marnus Labuschagne - 307 - Had his best week in Glamorgan whites and his best point scoring week of 2024. Should feel fairly hard done by to finish second this week. 307 would have got your top spot in all but 7 weeks of this year. Moves up 5 places to 9th.

3. Simon Harmer - 279 - Looked like his old self again this week courtesy of 8 wickets against Durham - moves up 3 places to 12th.

4. Jos Buttler - 279 - Jos Buttler's men never really got going in the T20 World Cup but it was enough to score some decent points personally; bagging 727 across the tournament.

5. Chamari Athapaththu - 245 - Continues her reign of terror over the West Indies this summer. Her highlight of the week was a fourfer in the first T20I.

Overall Top 5

1. Babar Azam - 2647 - Inactive this week and a lead of just 71 points. Is his 19 week reign at the top of the List almost up?

2. Chamari Athapaththu - 2574 - Has edged closer to top spot but will not feature in any cricket until the end of next month where she will prepare her warm up for the Women's T20 World Cup.

3. James Vince - 2290 - His huge score this week is enough to see him move into third place; his highest position for 7 weeks.

4. Jos Buttler - 2104 - Has only graced the Overall Top 5 for one week since the start of March. Despite the criticism for his captaincy, his 727 points over the T20 World Cup sees him skip 5th and burst straight into 4th.

5. Travis Head - 2002 - Despite a maelstrom of movement around him he manages to hold fifth place with his score of 126 for the week.

Other Movers

Glenn Maxwell scored 159 points this week which sees him move into joint 15th place; tied with Daryll Mitchell

Top Three Averages

1. Chamari Athapaththu - 183.86 (Up from 179.15)
2. Babar Azam - 155.71
3. Jos Buttler - 131.5 (Up from 123.4)

Marnus Labuschagne moves up by a huge 14.56 courtesy of his highest score in 2024. Meanwhile, Jadeja's descent down the average table continues. He started the World CUp in the Top 3 places...he now has only a smidge over 100 points a week.
