Devon Conway - The Best Cricketer of the Week

Weekly

1. Devon Conway - 231 - Was slow to get going in this year's IPL but becomes the second player to three Cricketers of the Week in 2023 - courtesy of a brace of half centuries this week.

2. Ravindra Jadeja - 221 - Had a disapointing week last week with his lowest ever score but played three games this week and got 5 wickets across them - including three in one game against Hyderabad.

=3. Cam Green - 210 - That's two good weeks in a row now and this one topped last weeks thanks to an all round display against Punjab.

=3. Suryakumar Yadav - 210 - It's about time that SKY joined the party. To say that his IPL 2023 has not gone quite to plan would be something of an understatement but he has got over 20 in three of his last four games and is back on the up and up. Seems a long time since he was in the Top 5 though.

5. Hardik Pandya - 159 - Has slowly been fighting his way back from injury but was back to his best with the ball this week with 66 v Lucknow.

Overall

1. Shakib Al Hasan - 2565 - Despite being inactive for another week he has now tied with Shubman Gill for most weeks in the Top Spot. With a lead of 403 points he is almost certain to break it next week.

2. Jos Buttler - 2162 - Another underwhelming performance means that Buttler is not using IPL 2023 to propel himself up to first place as quickly as he would like.

3. Shubman Gill - 2004 - Just the one game for Gujarat this week but no pressure from below means his third place berth was never in jeopardy.

4. Rashid Khan - 1953 - Doing alright for himself without being prolific in this IPL. Never without a wicket....however it must be said that his Economy points are surprisingly low. Holds fourth for a second week.

5. Ravindra Jadeja - 1895 - 211 points sees him lurch towards fourth place but is joined in a joint lurch with Devon Conway. There's a real gulf of 242 points between Conway in sixth and Jansen in 7th.

Other Movers

Moeen Ali is the latest player to take advantage of Usman Khawaja's extended spell away from the game, moving up to 11th. Harmer continues to move up a spot a week.

Ones To Watch

Last week's battle between SKY and Warner was emphatically one by the Mumbai man. This time out it is Punjab v Gujarat as captains Curran and Pandya have just the 9 point gap between them.

Top 3 Averages

1. Shakib Al Hasan - 197.31
2. Ravindra Jadeja = 189.5 (Down from 187.11)
3. Jos Buttler = 180.17 ( Down from 189.55)

Cam Green is the most improved player for the second week in a row. He has moved from 66.2 points a week to 99.53 in that time. Harry Brook descends once more, leaking 10 points and is down to 115.

Babar Azam - The Best Cricketer of the Week

Weekly Update

1. Babar Azam - 171 - Bit of a weird one here. Yes, Babar gets his second Cricketer of the Week of 2023 but he has played 3 games - one of which he bagged a century - yet only gets 171 points; the 28th lowest weekly high score ever.

2. Harry Brook - 169 - Had been underwhelming in IPL 2O23, and one swallow does not make a Summer, but a daddy score in Hyderabad's game against Kolkata gives him second place and 148 points away from an Overall Top 10 place.

3. Cam Green - 155 - If you had watched the second series of The Test in 2023, you would have been forgiven for thinking that the Cam Green they were talking about was different to the one on this List. He gave us a reminder of what he is capable of with 65 v Hyderabad this week

4. Simon Harmer - 140 - Yet to burst into life as we all know he can but Harmer has been in the Top 5 for both of his County Championship weeks thus far. He still sits in the bottom three overall though.

5. David Warner - 136 - Is starting to align his strike rate with runs and is back in the Top 5 again. Didn't move up in the Overall List but is positioning himself for a surge in coming weeks.

Overall

1. Shakib Al Hasan - 2565 - Inactive this week and, if I am correct, is going to be inactive for the next fortnight. Is his 480 points going to be enough to keep him in first?

2. Jos Buttler - 2085 - Only the 100 points for Buttler this week but he is starting to chip away at the gap between him and top spot. A few more Buttler-esque IPL performances should do it.

3. Shubman Gill - 1898 - Only the one game for Shubman this week and he still manages to move back into the Top 3 after a three week absence. He has two games this week so could very well consolidate that position.

4. Rashid Khan - 1881 - Just 41 points for Rashid this week and he moves down a spot but there is only 17 points between himself and third.

5. Ravindra Jadeja - 1684 - 20 points this week is his worst haul of points to date - but such is the gap between him and 6th that he is under no pressure whatsoever. He has a 218 point lead on Devon Conway.

Other Movers

Hardik Pandya managed to move into the tenth place spot this week, more through Usman Khawaja's inactivity than through his own good performance.

Ones To Watch

No player has held the same spot for longer than Suryakumar Yadav currently has held 14th, however the born again David Warner has just 7 points to make up to seize the 'crown' from him.

Top 3 Averages

1. Shakib Al Hasan - 197.31
2. Jos Buttler = 189.55 (Down from 198.5)
3. Ravindra Jadeja = 187.11 (Down from 208)

Jadeja's lowest score sees him lose his top place berth on the average rankings with Shakib Al Hasan leaping from third to first despite not playing. Cameron Green moves up the most but still has the third lowest overall @ 81 points per active week.

Shakib Al Hasan - The Best cricketer of the Week......again......again

 Weekly

1. Shakib Al Hasan - 333 - Shakib joins a rare club this week thanks to his unexpected run of games in the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League; only 4 other men have won Cricketer of the Week 3 weeks in a row as he has completed this time out - (Stokes, Babar, Ashwin & Harmer.)

2. Jos Buttler - 221 - A second consecutive second place finish for Jos. He scores half centuries for fun and bagged another 2 this week.

3. Ravindra Jadeja - 215 - What a renaissance Jadeja is having with both white and red ball this year. 5 wickets across 2 games for Chennai this week and he is keeping up with the big boys this IPL after all.

4. Simon Harmer - 197 - When you see Harmer in that snood in early season form for Essex, you just know points will follow. Moves up a place to 16th spot overall too.

=5. David Warner = 196 = Surely we can't be too far away from Warner committing himself full time to the T20 circuit. So anodyne in the Test outfit but on fire for a rather insipid looking Delhi side.

=5. Shubman Gill = 196 - Gill adhering to the 'One Good Knock' maxim to see him edge into joint fifth spot. That good knock was his 67 against Punjab....but his 39 v Kolkata was not to be sniffed at either.

Overall

For the third successive week the Top 5 stays exactly the same. Shakib's lead on Buttler is a huge 580, however his Mohammedan team are not guaranteed to progress to the knock out stage.

The narrowest gap is between Rashid Khan and Shubman Gill at a mere 17 points.

1 Shakib Al Hasan 2565
2 Jos Buttler 1985
3 Rashid Khan 1840
4 Shubman Gill 1823
5 Ravindra Jadeja 1664

Other Movers

Sam Curran was the biggest mover this week as he overtook Khawaja and Pandya and moved into 9th. Cam Green moves up a place from bottom spot at the expensive of inactive Pat Cummins.

Ones to Watch

Nothing separates Devon Conway and Marco Jansen in joint 6th place. There is a 331 point gap between them and a Top 5 berth but two good weeks could do it.

Top 3 Averages

1. Ravindra Jadeja – 208 (Up from 207)
2. Jos Buttler – 198.5 (Up from 196)
3. Shakib Al Hasan - 197.31 (Up from 18)

Harry Brook takes the biggest dive and has leaked 40 points off his average in the last fortnight. Harmer begins his progress up all metrics and improves by 22.43 to 82.82.

Shakib Al Hasan - The Best Cricketer of the Week...again

Weekly List

1. Shakib Al Hasan - 260 - The IPL's loss is Bangladesh's gain. On the week he announced he would not be joining up with Kolkata, Shakib gets his second Cricketer of the Week award of the year. he now has 7 - joint 7th of All Time alongside De Kock and Jeetan Patel.

=2. Jos Buttler = It's the age old pattern of one good T20 game and one average T20 game that allows you in the mix for weekly accolades. Predominantly here for a 22 ball 54 for Rajasthan vs Hyderabad.

=3. David Warner = 163 - Always wakes up for the IPL. Was languishing in bottom place of all active cricketers before this week and then he adds 50% of his total for the year and shoots up 3 places to 15th.

4. Moeen Ali = 162 - Moeen's all round ability is seldom used in T20 competitions...in fact he rarely bowls these days. This makes his 4-26 in the match between Chennai and Lucknow even more noteworthy. Moves up a place to 12th overall.

5. Rashid Khan = 140 = Mr Dependable provided the good with 5 wickets in two game - including his first Wicket bonus points. Surprisingly, however, he didn't bag any Economy points in the process.

Overall

1. Shakib Al Hasan - 2232 - Shakib was already in first position before he was the highest scoring cricketer in two successive weeks. His lead is now 468 points. With two ODI games against Ireland this week who knows how large that gap may swell to.

2. Jos Buttler= 1764 - Finishes 2nd overall, just as he did in the weekly accounts. Can't get the edge on first but also needs to be looking over his shoulder with the gap on 3rd place at 34. This is Buttler's 7th week in 2nd place. Nobody else has spent more than 3 there in 2023

3. Rashid Khan - 1730 - Is gaining on second spot and has put a little bit of daylight between himself and 4th place. However, with everyone between 2nd and 7th place all in IPL action over the coming weeks it could be an ongoing tussle.

4. Shubman Gill - 1627 - Is fairly well protected in fourth place of a while with 100+ points either side of him - his decent from in his opening IPL match for Gujarat vs Punjab put him on a good footing going forward.

5. Ravindra Jadeja - 1449 - One of the more disappointing of our stars to have played more than one IPL game this week. His 35 points still sees him manage to stay in 5th place - largely thanks to not much challenge from below.

Ones To Watch

Three England team mates are in IPL action against each other this week with it all to play for just outside the Top Ten. Sam Curran has just a 4 point lead on Moeen Ali, who overtook Harry Brook this week into 12th place. Any of the three could break into the Top 10 this week.

Top 3 Averages

1. Ravindra Jadeja – 207 (Down from 235.67)
2. Jos Buttler – 196 (Down from 204.71)
3. Shakib Al Hasan - 186 (Up from 179.27)

Jadeja's transition from Test to white ball cricket has seen him drop 61 average points per week over the last 3 weeks - however he still averages over 200 and leads the way in terms of averages. David Warner improves his average the most this week; up 17.68 points - however at 55.86 a week he is still the lowest of any active player on our list.

Phil Salt - The Best Cricketer of the Week

The fifth highest week for point scoring with 9 triple figure scores. Last week's highest score would see you finishing 5th this week....
