Rachin Ravindra - The Best Cricketer of the Week

Weekly Top 5

1. Rachin Ravindra - 243 - Reminded everyone of his Test acumen with his second century in 11 matches and against India no less.

2. Marnus Labuschagne - 213 - His third 200+ score in 6 weeks and plenty more Cricket in the bank for the Aussie.

3. Ravindra Jadeja - 155 - Of course Jadeja ends up in the Top 5 in a week where he plays a test match. it's just what happens.

4. Usman Khawaja - 141 - Such has been his poor year that 141 is his highest score of 2024. He has scored 372 points in the last 3 weeks, which is more then he scored between the end of January and the start of October.

5. Steve Smith - 119 - Disappointed in the Sheffield Shield (23 points; 20 points in the field) but bolstered his score with 56 runs in the One-Day Cup.

Overall Top 5

1. Chamari Athapaththu - 4010 - Will be chomping at the bit to start playing for the Sydney Thunder in the WBBL on Monday. Will she be able to dominate a franchise tournament in a way that she has failed to do previously and continue her reign at the top of the table.

2. James Vince - 3970 - Inactive for 3 successive weeks for only the second time this year. He does have a considerable amount of cricket on the horizon though. The inaugural Global Super League finishes a week before the BBL starts, so the Hampshire skipper should be available.

3. Travis Head - 3546 - Has a 390 point lead but has jeopardised his place as he will miss the upcoming white-ball series against Pakistan to spend time with his family ahead of the high-stakes five-Test series against India, starting November 22 in Perth.

4. Sam Curran - 3156 - His fifth inactive week. He will not see a fifth as the White Ball series against West Indies starts on Thursday.

5. Marnus Labuschagne - 3130 - Has breached a Top 5 that has had the same five figures in it for the last 11 weeks. He regains the 5th place spot he lost nearly 3 months ago.

Other Movers

A meagre score of 58 was the fourth lowest of the week but still sess Jaiswal move up to the 8th place that Brook dumped him out of last week.

Ones To Watch

Jaiswal has the smallest gap of anyone on the List (19 away from Harmer) and is currently in action against New Zealand.

Top Three Averages

1. Chamari Athapaththu - 174.34
2. Babar Azam - 135.04
3. Jos Buttler - 131.5

Usman Khawaja's average improves the most for the second week in a row; up 11.2 in the last fortnight. Daryl Mitchell's already meagre average depreciates the most - down to 80.47 - only Hardie, Marsh and Khawaja have worse.

Usman Khawaja - The Best Cricketer of the Week

This week has been the second lowest score of 2024 with just 237 points shared between 4 players so more of a round up this week than a Top 3 or 5.

Seems a very common occurrence to top score one week and then finish rock bottom the week after, such was the fate of Harry Brook who scored 387 points last week and a mere 25 this. Despite this he moves up 2 places on the overall list past Moeen and Jaiswal into 8th.

Another big scorer last week was Queensland's newest captain Marnus Labuschagne, he sheds 181 points from his score last week and posts 31 in his single One-Day Cup outing this week.

Chamari Athapaththu finishes a hugely disappointing T20 World Cup with her best score of the tournament; 65 in a dead rubber against New Zealand.

Our week is rounded off by Usman Khawaja who is coming into form in as we move closer to the end of the year. Our bottom placed cricketer gets his first cricketer of the Week award this year and third of all time, courtesy of a top score of 76 against Western Australia. He also scores his first Strike Rate points; now only Simon Harmer has none.

Overall List

1. Chamari Athapaththu - 4010 - A hugely disappointing T20 World Cup sees her retake top spot for the fourth time this year, but with just a 40 point lead her chances of finishing the year in top spot are diminishing.

2. James Vince - 3970 - Inactive this week and with seemingly no cricket until the Abu Dhabi T10 at the end of November. He does have a cushion of 424 points on third though.

3. Travis Head - 3546 - Inactive this week but lots of cricket looms on the horizon, especially after signing on with the Adelaide Strikers in the BBL.

4. Sam Curran - 3156 - Inactive again and hard to see where his next cricket comes from before the BBL.

5. Babar Azam - 3106 - Shockingly inactive and will remain so until at least the start of November. One good performance from Marnus Labuschagne below him and he loses his Top 5 berth.

Top Three Averages

1. Chamari Athapaththu - 174.34 (Down from 179.32)
2. Babar Azam - 135.04
3. Jos Buttler - 131.5

Chamari Athapaththu's average drops the most for the second week on the trot whilst Usman Khawaja sees a rare improvement to his average; however his 66.27 points per week is still the very worst.

Harry Brook - The Best Cricketer of the Week...again

Weekly Top 5

1. Harry Brook - 387 - No air of mystery around top spot this week. If you score a triple ton in a Test you're going to be top of the pops. He has scored 800 points in the last three weeks and moved from 16th in the Overall list to 10th.

2. Marnus Labuschagne - 212 - Back playing red ball cricket and now the captain of Queensland. Scored 112 runs and got two wickets this week to give him second place. Also moves up to 6th place on the Overall List.

3. Moeen Ali - 148 - His late call up into the CPL has given Moeen a late season boost up the List. The 595 points he has scored in the last three weeks is more than he got in the last seven active weeks of cricket he had over the English Summer. Up to 9th overall.

4. Mitchell Marsh - 127 - Could the start of the Australian Summer see Marsh move up our List. His first Sheffield Shield game sees him in fourth for the week, up one overall and all that without bowling. Who knows how high he can go?

5. Usman Khawaja - 115 - The bottom placed Cricketer on our Overall List rounds off our weekly Top 5. With just 613 points across the year, Khawaja is going to have to put in a Herculean effort to be anywhere other than bottom spot for 2024.

Overall Top 5

Despite expectations there is a fourth static week in the top 5. Margins are very narrow between Vince and Athapaththu in first and second and between Azam and a chasing pack below him.

2. Babar Azam - 135.04 (Down from 139.14)

Chamari Athapaththu's average drops by 6.92 but her weekly average is untouchable still. Brook moves up by a huge 12.53 points. With a weekly average of 123,82, he has the second best of anyone.

Moeen Ali - The Best Cricketer of the Week

Weekly Top 5

1. Moeen Ali - 253 - There's been a lot of chat about the T20 Franchise carousel this week and Moeen Ali is certain one of the horses that benefits the most from it. Straight from the SA20 to BPL 2024 and right back in the thick of the points.

2. Glenn Maxwell - 242 - Brought back echoes of his huge World Cup knock this week with a scorching 55 ball 120 in the 2nd T20 versus West Indies. His highest score of 2024 sees him move up to 6th in the Overall List...and 10 points off 4th.

3. Rachin Ravindra - 209 - Fresh off his huge score in the first Test, RR doubles up with a very different but similarly eye-catching performance in the second. This time it was with the ball that he most impressed - picking up three quarters of his points with ball in hand.

4. James Vince - 208 - Refuses to stop scoring runs. Played 3 T20 games this week and got 50s in two of them (admittedly slightly blotted his copy book with a duck in the other one). He is now straight on the plane to Karachi to continue his world tour in PSL 2024.

5. Phil Salt - 146 - The step down from a second tier T20 competition (SA20) to a fourth tier one (ILT20) sees Phil Salt score his highest score to date. The fact that is only in the mid hundreds tells a tale of it's own - however he moves up the Overall List to 14th.

Overall Top 5

1. James Vince - 963 - The top run scorer from the ILT20 league also takes control of the Overall List this week. Is ,perhaps, a surprise candidate to be our first player to tick over to a thousand points but here we are. Now onto the PSL.

2. Babar Azam - 893 - Inactive this week but Babar has made an absolute killing in the PSL in previous years. Just 70 points separates him from top spot so he could be back on the top of the tree very shortly.

3. Jos Buttler - 798 - Inactive this week and, from what I can see, for many more weeks to come. How far will Buttler fall?

4. Rachin Ravindra - 667 - Was in bottom spot a fortnight ago and in two great leaps is now up there at the top table. Can he now perform in the T20 series against Australia to really mark his card as an all format cricketer?

5. Moeen Ali - 662 - Top scores for the week and moves up 7(!!) places to make his debut in the Top 5....however it is very close with Glenn Maxwell just 5 points below him and Jaiswal another 6 points below that.

Other Movers

Two Aussies, in the form of Labuschagne & Marsh, score two similarly modest scores (94 & 86) but both move up 3 places to 17th and 10th respectively.

Top 3 Average Points per Active Week

1. Jos Buttler - 199.5
2. Babar Azam - 178.6
3. Rachin Ravindra - 166.75 (Up from 152.67)

Moeen Ali's average went from being OK (102.25) to very good (132.4) largely thanks to his one performance against Chattogram. Aaron Hardie's post-BBL malaise continues as he drops 5.1 points and is down to 66.57 a week - the third worst average of anyone.
