Jos Buttler - The Best Cricketer of the Week

Ridiculous amount of movement in the List this week courtesy of our second 2000+ point score week in succession.

Weekly Top 5

1. Jos Buttler - 303 - Has brought his decent IPL form to the T20 Blast courtesy of two half centuries in three innings this week. This is his 15th overall Cricketer of the Week which brings him into outright third. Only Azam (19) and Harmer (45) have more.

2. Ravindra Jadeja - 253 - Is continuing his stellar form with the bat in the Third Test. With 676 points, no Indian test player has outperformed him in this series.

3. Jasprit Bumrah - 245 - Lost both matches he has played in this series but has contributed 435 points to his total. Moved up a place to 21 in the Overall List this week.

4. Jamie Smith - 159 - A score in the mid hundreds looks paltry compared to his bumper score of the week before but still puts him as the highest England player on the List this week and moves him up to 13th overall - he was 20th at the start of the series.

5. Kane Williamson - 144 - is basically here due to a half century against Gloucestershire which he then padded with two other below par games in the T20 Blast. Moves up 2 places to 10th on the Overall List.

Overall Top 5

1. Sam Curran - 2736 - Reclaims the top spot he lost 20 weeks ago. Since then we have had 14 weeks of Sciver Brunt and three each of Jadeja and Dawson before the Hampshire man returned the sceptre to the Surrey captain. How long can he hold it?

2. Liam Dawson - 2714 - Just 70 points this week and he drops down to second. That being said, a return to the Test fold awaits and we have seen some huge scores registered there so he could be back up again soon.

3. Jos Buttler - 2541 - Such was the gap between the Top 2 and the rest that Buttler's 303 this week still leave shim 173 adrift of second place. He has put a gap of 126 between him and 4th though.

4. Ravindra Jadeja - 2415 - Our star Indian performer moves up a spot courtesy of another 200+ score with the bat.

5. Nat Sciver-Brunt - 2321 - Scored 41 on her return from injury but her points are really dipping since her decision to stop bowling on taking on the England captaincy.

Other Movers

For the second week in a row, Pathum Nissanka scores modestly(118) but still moves up a place (15th)

Ones to Watch

Kane Williamson and YashasviJaiswal are both performing quote inconsistently at the moment. 2 points separate them on the edge of the Top 10.

Top 3 Averages

1. Sam Curran - 160.94 (Down from 164.56)
2. Chamari Athapaththu -143.6
3. Nat Sciver-Brunt – 142.69

Jasprit Bumrah moves up by a huge 14.71 points to 97.91 whilst Nat Sciver-Brunt's decrease by 6.16 is the largest drop....still in the Top 3 though.

Simon Harmer - The Best Cricketer of the Week....Again

A lot of shifts and changes all over the shop this week. Let's get into it.

Weekly Top 5

1. Simon Harmer - 341 - 2 Cricketers of the Week back to back for Harmer. Interestingly his score this week is his highest of 2024 but not even in his top ten highest scores of all time.

2. James Vince - 159 - Not quite back to his best but certainly back to his most-alright. 88 runs and another 3 catches in the second innings to make him the undisputed king of fielding points. 440 this year puts him 80 more than Phil Salt and 130 above the nearest non-wktkpr

3. Travis Head - 151 - That scorching 59 against England feels like it needs more than the mere 40 Strike Rate points it got but here we are with Head in third place for the week.

4. Babar Azam - 116 - Not really beating the allegations that he can only turn it on when the pressure is off, Azam got his best score in 15 weeks in some friendly knockabout with his mates in the Champions One Day Cup

5. Moeen Ali - 67 - Rather sneaks in to the Top 5 this week. 27 runs at an OK Strike Rate and a wicket against Gloucestershire in the T20 Blast sees him skid onto the Top Table on the week he announced his international retirement.

Overall Top 5

1. Chamari Athapaththu - 3753 - Completes a hat trick of weeks at Number One on our list despite another inactive week. Her lead is now very narrow.

2. James Vince - 3702 - Finished second for the week and burst towards top spot. A huge 715 separate him and third spot.

3. Sam Curran - 2987 - Still in third place despite a slightly ignominious showing in the first T20 against Australia. Plenty more white ball cricket in him yet.

4. Travis Head - 2877 - A second week in fourth for Travis Head who is looking in the very finest of touch.

5. Babar Azam - 2827 - Holds fifth place but will be looking over his shoulder at Simon Harmer who is bursting up the rankings. Only 189 points between him and the born again spinner.

Ones To Watch

Shubman Gill may wish to use the Duleep Trophy to reignite his ailing year. He is currently in 14th but could jump as much as four places with as few as 225 points.

Other Movers

Quite a few incidental scores have seen players move up Overall. Brook, Salt and Hardie all move up a place to 15th, 7th and 20th respectively despite barely scrapping over 50.

Top Three Averages

1. Chamari Athapaththu - 187.65
2. Babar Azam - 141.35 (Down from 142.68)
3. Marnus Labuschagne - 132.44

Harry Brook's poor week sees him down by 4.21 to 103.61 whilst Harmer takes a huge boost of 10.43 up to 114.7 a week.

Hasan Ali - The Best Cricketer of the Week

Weekly Top 5

1. Hasan Ali - A quiet start against Kent gave birth to a phenomenal showing against Gloucestershire. Up 6 (!) places to 12th overall.

2. KL Rahul - 201 - Really is having a barn-storming IPL 2022. Another 201 points this week sees him with 163 points more than anyone else.

3. Simon Harmer - 195 - By his own standards, Harmer has started the County Cricket 2022 season in parochial fashion. Just the solitary wicket was bolstered by a score of 75* in Essex's loss to Warwickshire last week.

4. Quinton De Kock - 86 - A meagre score against Mumbai Indians was bolstered with a big score against Punjab on Friday. Yet another Top 5 finish.

5. Jonny Bairstow- 78 - Think it speaks volumes for how long scoring a week it has been that the anodyne looking Bairstow sneaks into the Top 5. His week was saved by the Lucknow game where he nearly doubled his IPL 2022 total.

Overall Top 5

1. Simon Harmer - 1798 - Here we are again with Simon Harmer back in top spot. Has not graced the Top Table since the 10th December last year but the 2018 Champion is back in Pole Position.

2. Babar Azam - 1630 - His third inactive week and the former Number One player has IPL 2022 players breathing down his neck. Worrying times ahead.

3. Quinton De Kock - 1565 - Was only muscled out of third place for a solitary week before snatching it right back again.

4. Rishabh Pant - 1553 - Only the one game for Pant this week - and a fairly lowkey score of 22 sees him nudged back down to 4th.

5. Mohammad Rizwan - 1457 - Will be disappointed with his start to the County Championship 2022 season with Sussex but has 0 scoreboard pressure. The nearest active player to him is 276 points away.

Ones To Watch

The battle at the top between De Kock and Pant looks tasty. As it stands there is only 12 points between them and the pair face off against each on Sunday.

Top 3 Averages

1. Simon Harmer = 224.75 (Down from 229)
2. Babar Azam = 163
3. Joe Root = 138.67

The County Championship has been the principle source for the biggest swings this week. Matt Critchley has dropped 30.33 points and now on 131.67. Hasan Ali's table-topping performance sees him go up a huge 23.37 points to 90.7 a week.
