Ravindra Jadeja - The Best Cricketer of the Week

Weekly Top 5

1.Ravindra Jadeja - 215 - Last year's highest Red Ball point scorer has that format to thank for his first Cricketer of the Week of 2026. He added 193 in his Ranji Trophy game against Punjab to his measly 22 points from the final ODI against New Zealand to finish in top spot in a low scoring week.

= 2. Aiden Markram - 198 - Manages to finish second despite playing a solitary T20 game this week. 108 at a good lick was not enough to see his Durban team progress but is enough for silver medal spot this week.

=2. Sam Curran - 198 - A very poor England display - in what is becoming an increasingly crowded field- was counterbalanced by a corker of a final game in the BBL with a half century and two wickets for Sydney. Bet he wished he'd stayed.

4. Nat Sciver-Brunt- 180 - Absolutely loves the WPL. Made a killing in that tournament last year and is doing so again in 2026. Another 80 runs in two games and a couple of wickets to boot for her to finish in the Top 5 for her two opening games.

5. Marco Jansen - 153 - Has failed to impress so far in 2026. 0 in Week 1, 76 in Week 2....and now 153 this week.....that kind pf progression will see him odds on for a score of 300+ next week!

Overall Top 5

1.Vaibhav Sooryavanshi - 687 - Has scored less and less every week but still has a three figure lead on first spot....he also managed to get his first decent tournament runs of the year under his belt with 72 against Bangladesh Under 19s.

2. Ravindra Jadeja - 544 - Moves up a spot to second place courtesy of his first Cricketer of the Week award of 2026. Was in the Top 5 almost all of last year and is setting himself up well for this year.

3. Nat Sciver-Brunt - 519 - Down a place this week despite finishing in the Top 5. Needs her team to start matching her performances for her to access the knockout stages of the WIPL and score more points.

4. Aiden Markram - 462 - Moves up a place courtesy of that final big century for Durban - it is all very very tight in that Top 6 so will be hard pushed to stick around too long.

5. Quinton De Kock - 451 - Only just keeps his place in the Top 5 as he is only a single point ahead of Sam Curran this week. Has at least one more SAT20 game in the bank though so could challenge for higher honours next week.

Highest Weekly Average

1. Nat Sciver-Brunt = 259. 5
2. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi = 229
3. Ravindra Jadeja = 181.33

Good Week for Marco Jansen; up 38.33 points to 76.33. Bad week for Vaibhav Sooryavanshi down 53.5 to 229.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi - The Best Cricketer of the Week

Well here we are again....and what a doozy of a week with over 2000 points scored. Let's see who leads us out.

Scores after Week 1

1. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi - 386 - Sooryavanshi, like Athapaththu before him, is a very experimental pick. Something of an unknown quantity and a very left field pick. And just like Athapaththu, he dispels those concerns by finishing first in Week 1. Very impressive debut.

2. Ravindra Jadeja - 288 - A couple of games for Saurashtra in the Vijay Hazare Trophy this week and he underlined his all rounder capabilities by scoring in 7 of the 8 point scoring categories.....just Fielding Bonus points for him left.

3. Travis Head- 262 - Had a stinker of a year last year and never reached nay higher than ninth. He is now born again as an opener and has come straight in at Number 3 for the New Year. Can he return to his 2024 peak where he finished third?

4. Harry Brook - 176 - Will want to put 2025 well behind him. He finished 10th but was a year replete with poor decision; both on and off the field. 126 runs in the final Test is enough for him to start the year on the front foot.

5. Jos Buttler - 163 - Refreshingly...and I suspect rarely....the highest T20 point score of the year only manages to sneak into the Top 5. 113 runs for Durban in the SA20 (albeit very unevenly split) also gives Buttler the best T20 average with him scoring 81 and a half points per game (a new metric for 2026)

Harry Brook - The Best Cricketer of the Week

N.B. Calculations do not include Friday's T20 between Australia and India as I had to press go a little earlier than normal.

Weekly Top 5

1. Harry Brook - 239 - In a week of relatively modest scores (both for England and for our players) Brook blew the roof of with the only 200+ score of the week.

2. Nat Sciver-Brunt - 174 - A disappointing end to her first foray into international captaincy. She has scored 648 points across the tournament though so she has had a decent personal campaign.

3. Saim Ayub - 97 - Another alright-ish performance for Ayub. He has, at least, broken his slump of ducks with 37 runs against South Africa. He backed this up with two wickets.

4. Annabel Sutherland - 73 - A rather ignominious end to the World Cup for the player who has scored the most points over the 5 weeks of the tournament (783)

5. Ravindra Jadeja - 66 - A surprise turnout for Saurashtra saw Jadeja register a satisfactory little 66 against Madhya Pradesh.

Overall Top 5

1. Sam Curran - 4199 - A meagre return for Curran in his return to the ODI side as he scored just 33 runs in the only completed match. His lead on second place remains on 345 points though.

2. Jos Buttler - 3854 - Scored just 33 points for England this week and just about holds on to his second-place berth that might have been threatened should things have panned out differently in the Women's World Cup.

3. Nat Sciver - Brunt - 3794 - The gap between NSB and third place that it took the whole of the World Cup for her to just nip into that position on her final week of action. Now has week off before WBBL action for Hobart.

4. Liam Dawson - 3762 - Inactive this week and down a place to 4th - his lowest position for 18 weeks.

5. Ravindra Jadeja - 3325 - Holds fifth spot with absolutely no pressure below him for at least a fortnight where Sutherland could mount a late WBBL resistance.

Other Movers

Both Adam Zampa and Jamie Smith scored very meagrely this week but managed to move up a spot; Zampa to 22nd and Smith to 14th.

Top 3 Averages

1.Chamari Athapaththu - 151,53
2. Sam Curran - 149.48 (Down from 154.3)
3. Annabel Sutherland - 145.48 (Down from 149.1)

Different fates awaited two of our young Englishmen this week. Brook improved the most (up 5.57 points to 116.57) whilst Smith moved down the most; leaking 5.18 points to 111.35.
