Nat Sciver-Brunt - The Best Cricketer of the Week

Many more points scored this week but from the exact same amount of cricketers. The natural break comes after a Top Three so that is what we shall do.

Weekly Top 3

1. Nat Sciver-Brunt- 237 – Had a (admittedly unimpressive) game washed out but still manages to bag top spot courtesy of a century and a couple of wickets against Sri Lanka.

2. Annabel Sutherland – 230 – Became the top wicket taker of the World Cup this week, largely due to the five-fer she bagged against India.

3. Yashasvi Jaiswal – 213 – Been a bit since he registered an impressive score in Tests but certainly got his dues against West Indies. Moves up three places on the Overall List to 11th.

Overall Top 5

1. Sam Curran – 4148 – Inactive this week but is likely to feature in the T20 series that starts Saturday morning against New Zealand.

2. Jos Buttler- 3807- Inactive this week but will hope to be an instrumental figure in the T20 series that starts Saturday morning against New Zealand.

3. Liam Dawson – 3722 - Inactive this week but may just feature in the T20 series that starts Saturday morning against New Zealand.

4. Nat Sciver – Brunt – 3515 – Despite her weekly high score this week, she just finds herself further sandwiched in fourth place. 207 points separate her from third and 257 from 5th.

5. Ravindra Jadeja – 3258 – His form in the West indies series propels Jadeja into the Top 5 at the expense of Nicholas Pooran.

Other Movers

Two Pakistan players finished off the pace but still managed to move on the Overall List. Saim Ayub continues to improve and moves up to 16th whilst Azam jumps up from bottom place to 22nd after his long respite from Cricket.

Top 3 Averages

1. Sam Curran - 159.94
2.Chamari Athapaththu - 148.29 (Down from 157)
3. Annabel Sutherland - 144.95 (Up from 140.22)

Chamari Athapaththu drops the most - down by 8.71 points but still manages to hold second place. Yashasvi Jaiswal does the best this week with his average up by 5.17 to 109.53.

Ravindra Jadeja- The Best Cricketer of the Week

Very lean week in terms of contributions but there is a natural gap between the person that finished fifth and the person in 6th so I will do a Top 5 as normal.

Weekly Top 5

1. Ravindra Jadeja – 274 – Clearly likes a bit of responsibility. His first game as vice captain saw him excel with both bat and ball – something he has not done in a while. Another Test started on Friday so more points in the offing.

2. Saim Ayub – 232 – A struggling batter returning back to their domestic league and completely annihilating is a dance as old as time itself. Ayub scored 142 runs this week – this is more than he bagged in the last 5 weeks combined.

3. Nat Sciver-Brunt – 112 – Hasn’t quite hit her staps like we know she is capable of but still a comfortable three figure score in the second week of the World Cup.

4. Jasprit Bumrah – 110 - Felt like he was a bit out of luck in the first Test against West Indies but managed to bag three late wickets in the first innings to scrape a three figure score.

5. Annabel Sutherland- 91 – Bowled superbly in the match against Pakistan but looked like she might need get her just deserts….but managed to bag three late wickets to finish with a decent score.

Overall Top 5

Not much to report this week with only NSB playing.

The Top 5 remains:

1 Sam Curran 4148
2 Jos Buttler 3807
3 Liam Dawson 3722
4 Nat Sciver-Brunt 3278
5 Nicholas Pooran 3096

Jadeja is only 18 points off 5th so expect changes next week.

Top 3 Averages

1. Sam Curran - 159.94
2.Chamari Athapaththu - 157 (Down from 161.67)
3. Annabel Sutherland - 140.22 (Down from 143.12)

Saim Ayub's return to form sees his average improve by 7.37 point to 106.61. Travis Head's damp squib versus New Zealand sees him drop by 3.5, down to 87.95.

Travis Head - The Best Cricketer of the Week

A lot of movement this week after a long period of rigidity....who has done well?

Weekly

1. Travis Head - 231 - The rebirth of Travis Head gives him his second Cricketer of the Week Award for 2022 and his third of all time. Really does look in fine form as an opener and had a record-breaking week alongside David Warner.

=2. Kane Williamson = 225 = Seems to be awakening from his malaise towards the end of the year. Two matches in two different disciplines with two half century scores sees him joint second for the week. Up a place to 20th overall.

=2. Simon Harmer = 225 - Back in the wickets in long from cricket, just as God intended. A fourfer against Knights was the highlight of his week.

4. David Warner - 172 - His second week in the Top 5 in a row. Loving life at the moment and moves up two places to 12th courtesy of a century stand in the final ODI against England.

5. Steve Smith - 165 - Nearly 300 points from three games is not to be sniffed at....especially considering Smith's form so far this year. His last innings let him down a bit and he just squeaks into the Top 5 this week.

Overall

1. Simon Harmer - 5418 - You would think Cricketer of the Year would have to be his this year. His lead is now back up to 798 - the highest it has been in 2 months.

2. Mohammad Rizwan - 4620 - Inactive this week as he girds his loins for the Test series against England.

3. Babar Azam - 3768 - Bit of danger from below for the inactive Pakistan captain but he manages to hold onto third place for the fourth week.

4. Moeen Ali – 3719 – Manages just 79 points across three games in two continents. Is crawling towards third place rather than sprinting.

5. Quinton De Kock – 3493 – Inactive for a month now but has zero pressure from below so holds 5th for the 7th week.

Other Movers

Hasan Ali moves up two places to 10th; his highest spot for the year.

Rishabh Pant takes advantage of Glenn Maxwell’s misfortune to move up to 6th despite 92 points this week.

Top Three Averages

1. Simon Harmer = 186.83 (Up from 185.46)
2. Ben Stokes = 124.86
3. Babar Azam = 129.93

Joe Root used to go to town in warm up matches....but only managed 9 this week to see his average fall by 5.33 points to 120.77 a week. Kane Williamon swells his average by 7.48 to 75.33.
