Michael Bracewell - The Best Cricketer of the Week

 

Overall Top 5

1. Michael Bracewell - 309 - Bit of a cheat this week as I cannot remember somebody playing quite as much cricket in seven days as Bracewell. His pair of ODIs for New Zealand and then two games for Lahore in the Global Super League gives him his second Cricketer of the Week.

2. Sam Curran - 260 - Continuing his fine Summer, as he always does with 120 wicket points and 60 runs across two games in two formats. Lots more to come for him over the next month or two.

3. Nicholas Pooran - 158 - Finding his form again and finishes in the Top 5 for the second week on the bounce. Moves up to 15th overall- his highest position in 6 months. He was in bottom place just 4 weeks ago.

4. Liam Dawson - 124 - Perhaps a surprise to see him in the Top 5 this week but the fact he played three games sees him scrape together enough points for a fourth place berth.

5.Rachin Ravindra - 121 - Two games in two different continents this week as he finished his MLC season with a loss to Los Angeles before starting his Hundred season with a win against the South.

Overall Top 5

1.Vaibhav Sooryavanshi - 3257 - After a sobering debut series against England, Vaibhav made hay in the Zimbabwean sunshine as he got a half century in the first T20.

2. Simon Harmer - 2750 - Inactive this week - and will be until the County Championship kicks off again in about a month. How far will he descent in that time?

3. Jos Buttler - 2610 - A fantastically speedy 41 in the final ODI against India was followed by a pretty pedestrian opening match for Manchester in The Hundred. Holds third for a third week.

4. Shubman Giill - 2384 - Finished the ODI series with yet another half century. Not quite enough to see him improve on his fourth place position which he has now held for three weeks.

5.Sam Curran - 2344 - Takes advantage of his England teammate Harry Brook's poor week to nip into the Top 5. Curran has not been in the top 5 for 13 weeks but he loves The Hundred and could score some big points in coming weeks.

Ones to Watch

There's a real resurgence in the bottom third of the table - thiis can be seen most when we see Ecclestone, Bracewell and Salt all split by 59 points in 18th, 19th and 20th.

Rachin Ravindra - The Best Cricketer of the Week

 

Extraordinary week of scoring ; just short of 3000 points on t he board with three cricketers getting their highest score of the year.

Weekly Top 5

1.Rachin Ravindra- 468 - The headline figure is that Rachin has scored the 7th highest score in the 8 year history of this List. He matched just under half his total of T20 points scored in the last 18 games this year in just 4 this week and moves up from 16th to 9th.

2. Sophie Ecclestone - 351 - Imagine what her numbers would be like if she got to play more than a single red ball game every year and a half. Comfortably broken her record point score of 2026 and up to 18th overall.

3. Nicholas Pooran - 338 - Increased his total T20 points scored to date by 34% this week with 208 runs in 3 games in Major League Cricket. Is one of only 4 players to score more than 700 points in the last month. Working his way into form or taking advantage of poor bowling?

4. Jos Buttler - 313 - Put his critics to one side briefly with a huge 131in the final T20 against England....then bolstered it with another 50 fielding points in the two ODIs.

5. Sam Curran - 216 - Really hitting the straps with his bowling again and getting those allrounder points. When he doesn't hit with the bat he makes up for it with ball - he bagged 160 points with that discipline this week.

1. Vaibhav Sooryavabshi - 3137 - Seems to have been folded into the white ball squad a bit now and hard to see where his next cricket is coming from, Lead of 387 on second.

2. Simon Harmer- 2750 - Only 87 points from 3 T20 Blast games for Harmer as his side failed to do what needed to be done to progress to Finals Day. Holds second.

3. Jos Buttler - 2513 - Is very well insulated in third still; 237 up to second, 326v down to third. Very aesthetically pleasing if nothing else.

4. Shubman Gill - 2277 - A sign of how high scoring this week has been is that Gill's score of 171 sees him finish 8th for the week. Holds fourth overall.

5. Harry Brook - 2147 - Real civil war going on between Brook and Curran for 5th. Brook scored 192 this week but Curran scored 216 meaning that the gap is now just 63.

Simon Harmer - The Best Cricketer of the Week

 

Weekly Top 5.....but kinda 6

1. Simon Harmer - 198 - A five-fer for Harmer against Glamorgan puts him top of the tree for the third time this year. He now clears the board for wicket scoring points this year.

2. Marco Jansen - 181 - Had more cold patches than hot ones in the IPL this year but is now plying his trade in the MLC where he got 4 wickets across 3 games for Washington.

3. Harry Brook - 172 - The perennial vice-captain put an OK showing in during the Second Test against New Zealand. 72 runs plus some extra points sees him in third place.

4. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi - 164 - Warmed up for his call-up to the full India squad with the fastest ever 50 in List A history. Seems like that should be worth more than 40 Strike Rate points but oh well.

=5. Nicholas Pooran - 139 - His travails in the IPL have been well publicised but he seems to have perked up now he is batting against 40 year old Americans. Moved up from bottom spot at the expense of Michael Bracewell.

=5. Rachin Ravindra - 139 - Put his poor first Test behind him with 33 and 76 in the second. He has scored more red call points this week than in his last two red ball games combined.

1. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi - 3075 - Sees his monumental lead on second eaten into by a mere 34 points this week.

2. Simon Harmer- 2224 - Moves up into second place thanks to his weekly winning score. One more game in the County Championship before it's back to the Blast.

3. Shubman Gill - 2106 - A victim of his team's dominance against Afghanistan this week. He was needed to bat and just got 20 fielding points. Down a spot.

4. Jos Buttler - 2006 - Retains fifth place despite his inactivity.

5. Aiden Markram - 1690 - Still clinging on to his Top 5 berth. Sam Curran is now only 29 behind him though.
