Simon Harmer - The Best Cricketer of the Week

An awful lot of Test Cricket this week and an awful lot of chopping and changing.

Weekly Top 5

1. Simon Harmer - 316 - Has featured in 3 weeks of cricket this year and has been the top point scorer in two of them. The man is a machine.

2. Marnus Labuschagne- 190 - Marnus was never outside the Top 3 during 2021; so far this year he has only spent 2 weeks in the Top 10 and has never breached the Top 5. A decent first Test sees him finish second for the week and move up a place to 10th.

3. Risabh Pant - 166 - Another destructive performance for Pant sees him lurch back up the table again and finish in the Top 5 for the week once more.

4. Joe Root - 154 - Not a lot of cricket to judge Root on this year but a decent score in the warm up game before WI v Eng sees him jump up a huge 5 places to 12th.

5. Jonny Bairstow - 136 - Jonny has only played two weeks of cricket this year but has registered three figure scores in both. Expect this trend to continue.

Overall Top 5

1. Mohammad Rizwan - 1044 - Rizwan struggled with the transition to Test Cricket and got the second to lowest score for the week. Was still enough to see him as the first player to score 1000 points for the year.

2. Moeen Ali - 944 - Inactive for the third successive week but such was his BPL form he has nothing to worry about this week.

3. Quinton De Kock - 920 - Inactive this week but just about holds off the charge from below.

4. Rishabh Pant - 904 - His batting display in IND vs SL has seen him back in the Top 5 once more. He has now occupied all of the Top 6 places in the first 10 weeks.

5. Simon Harmer - 842 - Another big haul sees Harmer halt his drift downwards and reassert himself back in the Top 5. The County Championship beckons where these big scores may well become the norm for the Saffer.

Other Significant Mover

Steve Smith was back in form in Australia's draw against Pakistan. This was enough to see him up a place to 11th.

Ones to Watch

The bottom half of the table has everything to play for. There is 57 points between Steve Smith in 11th and Travis Head in 15th. With Root, Bairstow and Stokes in between them we have a mini-Ashes battle playing out over two continents.

Top 3 Averages

1. Simon Harmer = 280.67 (Up from 263)
2. Moeen Ali = 188.8
3. Jonny Bairstow - 165

Marnus Labuschagne is the biggest achiever this week. He swells his average by 23.3 points and is now on 96.8. Rizwan's transition from T20s to Test has not served him well. He is down 16.69 points to 149.14. He is now out of the Top 3 highest averages and into 6th.
