Suryakumar Yadav - The Best Cricketer of the Week

Top 5 of the Week

1. Suryakumar Yadav - 276 - Was number one two weeks ago, bottom of the pile last week and now back up to first this week. Moves up 2 places to 11th Overall.

2. Sam Curran - 155 - One of those times that you feel a player doesn't justify their position. Having a bit of a stinker but still ends the week with the second highest points.

3. Ravindra Jadeja - 83 - Seems low for a man in great nick and playing two T20 games - enough to get third in a week where so many players underperformed.

4. Jos Buttler - 64 - Basically here off the back off that one OK-ish score in the latest T20 game but is really struggling for form at the moment.

5. Moeen Ali - 62 - You can always rely on Moeen's Strike Rate points to give him a boost in points and he did it yet again this week with his score doubled thanks to 30 SR points.

Overall Top 5

1. Shakib Al Hasan -4846 - Holding on to first place by the smallest skin of his tiniest teeth. The lead is now down to a mere 35.

2. Jos Buttler - 4811 - Crawling towards first place. If, as seems likely, he finishes the year as the top cricketer on our list, it will be because of the sheer amount of cricket he has played. He has had a mere 11 weeks inactive - nobody has had fewer.

3. Shubman Gill - 4786 - Returns to action this week, only to be booted out of second place after scoring a paltry 8 points across two T20s.

4. Ravindra Jadeja - 4487 - Almost does not seem fair that, with two weeks left, Jadeja has now vacated his beloved 5th place spot. He has spent 23 weeks in that position - however this week he spends his seventh week in fourth.

5. Simon Harmer - 4432 - The prospect of Simon harmer spending the first year since the advent of this game outside the top 5 is seeming more and more likely with every inactive week.

Ones To Watch

Devon Conway moves into One Day mode and needs just 13 points to overtake Rashid Khan into 6th.

Top 3 Averages

1. Simon Harmer - 184.67
2. Shakib Al Hasan - 156.32
3. Ravindra Jadeja - 144.74 (Down from 146.8)

Suryakumar Yadav's average improves by a huge 5.49 points taking his average a mite over 100 a week. Shubman Gill's poor score sees his average decrease by 4.03 - down to 140.76.

Moeen Ali - The Best Cricketer of the Week

Only a top three today due to the scarcity of cricket.

Weekly Top 3

1. Moeen Ali - 187 - 187 points from 5 T10 games this week seems slim but it is hard to judge really. Moeen joins an exclusive club of 10 players who have won Cricketer of the Week in three successive years (Harmer, Azam, Rashid, Stokes, Maxwell, Root, Marnus, Kohli, Warner.)

2. Sam Curran - 168 - Feast to famine for Sam Curran in the ODI series against the West Indies. Had a torrid old time in the first game but scored nearly double those points in the second game. More cricket to play for him on this tour.

3. Harry Brook - 164 - Needs a decent spell after a pretty bleak 2023. Don't think many would have predicted him to be in 14th place at this stage of the year; but has started this series well.

Overall Top 5

Rather neatly the only active player in our Top 5 also finished fourth for the week. Jos Buttler got 111 courtesy of one good performance against West Indies. Could well finish the year in top spot (potentially rather undeservingly)

That Top 5 is:

1 Shakib Al Hasan 4846
2 Shubman Gill 4778
3 Jos Buttler 4747
4 Simon Harmer 4432
5 Ravindra Jadeja 4404

Moeen Ali is the most improved player of the week but his improvement of 2.68 points still seems him fourth worth. Suryakumar Yadav moves in the opposite direction and is now fourth worst with 94.69 a week.

Cameron Green - The Best Cricketer of the Week

Not so much a Top 5 this week as it is an 'Everyone who played this week 4'

Weekly Round Up

Back playing Sheffield Shield cricket and back in the points after what can only be described as a disappointing World Cup, Cameron Green (186 points) will be hoping to keep his place in the Test side with more of the same with the red ball. Moves above Pat Cummins into 16th.

With Australia losing David Warner, they need Usman Khawaja (154 points) in good form and he appears to be showing it in the Sheffield Shield. He scored his second century of the tournament this week against Western Australia.

Away from Red Ball cricket, Moeen Ali (115 points) is back playing the shortest of the short form games in the Abu Dhabi T10. Well shy of the form that he has shown in previous years, he has shown glimpses with both bat and ball in the opening matches of this tournament. Moves above David Warner into 11th.

As is so often the case, last week's Cricketer of the Week has had something of a stinker this time out. Scores of just 19 & 39 for SKY (98 points) see him as the lowest point scorer of the week.

Overall Top 5

Not only does the Overall Top 5 remain the same, none of the top ten even played this week.

This makes the Top 5, with 4 weeks of points still up for grabs:

1 Shakib Al Hasan 4846
2 Shubman Gill 4778
3 Jos Buttler 4636
4 Simon Harmer 4432
5 Ravindra Jadeja 4404

Top 3 Averages

1. Simon Harmer - 184.67
2. Shakib Al Hasan - 156.32
3. Ravindra Jadeja - 146.8

All 4 of our players improved their average this week with Cameron Green swelling his by the most - up 3.96 to 94.96.

Suryakumar Yadav - The Best Cricketer of the Week

After the feast of cricket over the last month, a short but sweet one this week. Just a Top 3 for ya.

Weekly Update

1. Suryakumar Yadav - 148 - Disappointing in the World Cup Final but very decent in his first foray in captaining his national team. 148 is the lowest highest score of the week that anyone has had in 2023 - and the 13th lowest ever.

2. Pat Cummins - 80 - Cricket's Mr Nice Guy being the highest point scorer for the winning team of the ODI World Cup is a sight to see. Can't begrudge it too much.

3. Usman Khawaja - 53 - Two modest scores in the Sheffield Shield against Victoria. This would not get you anywhere near the Top 3 normally but here we are.

Overall Top 5

1. Shakib Al Hasan - 4846 - Inactive this week and a very lucky boy to hold on to Top Spot. Could be in action at the end of this week in a Test match against New Zealand...but could also be injured.

2. Shubman Gill - 4778 - Not so much a damp squib in the World Cup final as a soaking wet squib. Could have taken top spot but now lags by 68 points. Might not be in action again until the 10th December.

3. Jos Buttler - 4636 - Inactive this week. Will be looking to get his form back in a white ball campaign in the West Indies starting on the 3rd of December.

4. Simon Harmer - 4432 - Literally who knows what's going on with Harmer but he's still clinging on.

5. Ravindra Jadeja - 4404 - No pyrotechnics with either bat or ball in the World Cup final. Hard to say when he will next be in action. Could be as late as the 17th of December.

Top 3 Averages

1. Simon Harmer - 184.67
2. Shakib Al Hasan - 156.32
3. Ravindra Jadeja - 146.8 (Down from 150.97)

Jadeja continues to descend but, luckily for him, so does Gill meaning he keeps his top three spot. SKY goes up the most - a modest improvement of 1.74 meaning he averages 97.53 a week.
