Moeen Ali - The Best Cricketer of the Week

After some very very lean weeks we have had the third highest score of the year this time out with 2041 points shared between all but 5 players.

Weekly Top 5

1. Moeen Ali - 340 - Retires from international cricket, takes a little break in Guyana and becomes one of the most miserly bowlers in world cricket. Prior to this week he had not scored an economy point in all of 2024. This week he scored 90.

2. Ravindra Jadeja - Another one straight out of the Jadeja playbook. Doesn't play for months on end and then gets just shy of 300 points in one Test. Jumps from 17th to 12th.

3. Aaron Hardie - 207 - Has not been setting even the most flammable parts of the world alight this year but has impressed in the ongoing ODI series against England. Has been in the Top 5 in two of the last three weeks.

4. Rachin Ravindra - 191 - Back in action after a long spell away and a fairly decent showing with 131 points in the loss to Sri Lanka. Could be a late player as cricket shifts into the other hemisphere.

5. Harry Brook - 164 - One very good performance in the ODIs against Australia preceded by a core of just 4. Turning into a decent late Summer for him. Despite this finds himself DOWN a spot overall.

Overall Top 5

1. James Vince - 3873 - Holds top spot for a second week as he plays out his final Hampshire game of the season. Will hope for a bigger gap to see him through to the BBL.

2. Chamari Athapaththu - 3752 - Biding her time before the Women's T20 starts. Is now the second longest inactive player on the List with 4 weeks without a score.

3. Travis Head - 3251 - A 279 point swing this week - with 325 points on the board last week, he got a mere 49 before but paltry scoring from those below him means that there was zero pressure on his bronze medal position.

4. Sam Curran - 3156 - Inactive this week for the first time in 10 weeks. Holds fourth.

5. Babar Azam - 3061 - Only 5 points week ; the lowest of anyone. Yet he still holds fifth spot.

Ones to Watch

Two Aussies have a single point between them in 19th and 20th; who will prevail out of Hardie and Marsh?

Other Movers

Shubman Gill got an impressive 159 this week but that saw him finish sixth. He does move up a spot to 13th though.

Top Three Averages

1. Chamari Athapaththu - 187.65
2. Babar Azam - 139.14 (Down from 145.52)
3. Marnus Labuschagne - 132.5 (Down from 138.47)

Babar Azam's single figure week sees him tumble the most whilst Ravindra Jadeja improves by 10.24 points up to 111.68.

Travis Head - The Best Cricketer of the Week

After a few lean weeks, normal service has been resumed in a massive way with some gigantic hauls from our players.

Weekly Top 5

1. Travis Head - 325 - Two very impactful innings this week. His 154 in the first ODI grabbed the headlines but did big things in the second T20I with a 14 ball 31.

2. Marnus Labuschagne - 247 - Was not definitely going to be included in the first ODI against England before illness struck down a number of the squad......certainly made mark with 77 runs and three wickets.

3. Babar Azam - 229 - Two more massive innings from Babar in the Champions One Day Cup. Won't be worth much to the critics but is his highest score for 18 weeks.

4. James Vince - 171 - Is ending his County Championship season in very decent form; this week scoring 101 runs against Worcestershire. One more game and a little break away from the game before some BBL cricket as his 2024 swansong.

5. Sam Curran - 169 - Decides that he likes a bit of red ball cricket these days. Turns out for Surrey as they lift the County Championship for the third year on the bounce. Will be disappointed with his performance with the bat but got 5 wickets in the match to see him in fifth.

Overall Top 5

1. James Vince - 3873 - Back into first place after three weeks away. Has one more County Championship game to open up a big lead on those below him but is certainly the odds on favourite to be a surprise Cricketer of the Year for 2024.

2. Chamari Athapaththu - 3753 - Three weeks inactive was too much for the Sri Lankan to hope to hold onto the crown for. Two more weeks until the Women's T20 World Cup though.

3. Travis Head - 3203 - The Autralian's week topping score sees him up a place into third. Third is his highest position of the year.

4. Sam Curran - 3156 - Despite finishing in the Top 5 this week, Curran still moves down a spot to fourth.

5. Babar Azam - 3056 - Handy points in the Champions One Day Cup sees him open up 377 points on 6th place Simon Harmer. Only three gaps are bigger on our List.

Ones to Watch

With India in the midst of Test match against Bangladesh there is a little gap window between Gill in 14th and Jadeja in 17th with just 127 points in it. The players in between them are brook and Kohli who will also be in action.

Other Movers

Moeen Ali has a funny little habit of performing averagely and still moving up a place. This week he scored just 94 yet still moves up to 11th.

Top Three Averages

1. Chamari Athapaththu - 187.65
2. Babar Azam - 145.52 (Up from 141.35)
3. Marnus Labuschagne - 138.47 (Up from 132.44)

Mitch Marsh already had the third lowest score of anyone on the list and leaked a further 3.73 points this week to move down to 73.33. Travis Head moves up 7.94 points to 118.59.

Simon Harmer - The Best Cricketer of the Week....Again

A lot of shifts and changes all over the shop this week. Let's get into it.

Weekly Top 5

1. Simon Harmer - 341 - 2 Cricketers of the Week back to back for Harmer. Interestingly his score this week is his highest of 2024 but not even in his top ten highest scores of all time.

2. James Vince - 159 - Not quite back to his best but certainly back to his most-alright. 88 runs and another 3 catches in the second innings to make him the undisputed king of fielding points. 440 this year puts him 80 more than Phil Salt and 130 above the nearest non-wktkpr

3. Travis Head - 151 - That scorching 59 against England feels like it needs more than the mere 40 Strike Rate points it got but here we are with Head in third place for the week.

4. Babar Azam - 116 - Not really beating the allegations that he can only turn it on when the pressure is off, Azam got his best score in 15 weeks in some friendly knockabout with his mates in the Champions One Day Cup

5. Moeen Ali - 67 - Rather sneaks in to the Top 5 this week. 27 runs at an OK Strike Rate and a wicket against Gloucestershire in the T20 Blast sees him skid onto the Top Table on the week he announced his international retirement.

Overall Top 5

1. Chamari Athapaththu - 3753 - Completes a hat trick of weeks at Number One on our list despite another inactive week. Her lead is now very narrow.

2. James Vince - 3702 - Finished second for the week and burst towards top spot. A huge 715 separate him and third spot.

3. Sam Curran - 2987 - Still in third place despite a slightly ignominious showing in the first T20 against Australia. Plenty more white ball cricket in him yet.

4. Travis Head - 2877 - A second week in fourth for Travis Head who is looking in the very finest of touch.

5. Babar Azam - 2827 - Holds fifth place but will be looking over his shoulder at Simon Harmer who is bursting up the rankings. Only 189 points between him and the born again spinner.

Ones To Watch

Shubman Gill may wish to use the Duleep Trophy to reignite his ailing year. He is currently in 14th but could jump as much as four places with as few as 225 points.

Other Movers

Quite a few incidental scores have seen players move up Overall. Brook, Salt and Hardie all move up a place to 15th, 7th and 20th respectively despite barely scrapping over 50.

Top Three Averages

1. Chamari Athapaththu - 187.65
2. Babar Azam - 141.35 (Down from 142.68)
3. Marnus Labuschagne - 132.44

Harry Brook's poor week sees him down by 4.21 to 103.61 whilst Harmer takes a huge boost of 10.43 up to 114.7 a week.

Phil Salt - The Best Cricketer of the Week

Weekly Top 5 1. Phil Salt - 197 - If Salt played in the Carribean every week he might put on Lara like figures. He finishes in first place...
