Pat Cummins - The Best Cricketer of the Week

 Weekly Top 5

1. Pat Cummins - 291 - A very decent start to the new Australian captain's career sees him end the International Sub-Continental Summer as Cricketer of the Week for the first time.

2. Joe Root - 282 - Another stonking performance from Joe Root as he continues his ascent up the overall table. He moves up to 10th this week.

3. Ben Stokes - 279 - His 120 against the West Indies will live long in the memory - even if the match won't. Back in the weekly Top 5 for the first time since January. Has moved up two places on the overall list to 11th.

4. Babar Azam - 167 - Not as good as last week - but enough to give him another Top 5 finish. A spell away from the game looms for Azam now.

5. Quinton De Kock - 134 - Back playing ODI before his sojourn in the IPL sees him warm up with a fifth placed finish.

Overall Top 5

1. Mohammad Rizwan - 1225 - A fairly meagre 230 points across Pak Vs Aus ... however he keeps his top spot for a 5th successive week.

2. Rishabh Pant - 1133 - Inactive for the last time before the IPL starts. In the big-hitting form we saw in Ind v SL, the Delhi Capitals could be in for some show.

3. Babar Azam - 1128 - Holds down his third place spot thanks to a decent final Test in Pak Vs Aus. A spell away from cricket looms....how far will he drop?

4. Pat Cummins - 1070 - After being decent but unspectacular in the first two Tests, Cummins sprung into life in the final outing. He leaped up 5 places to get back into the Top 5.

5. Quinton De Kock - 1054 - Quinny bloody loves fifth place. After spending most of November and December last year in 5th, he has spent 5 of the last 10 weeks there.

Other Movers

Steve Smith continues to flirt with an assault on the top ten before dropping away again. Non-inclusion in the IPL will not help.

Ones to Watch

Could be a right little ding-dong at the bottom of the Top 5 as KKR's Pat Cummins only has a 16 point lead on Lucknow's Quinton De Kock. A bat vs ball battle.

Top 3 Averages

1. Simon Harmer = 217.5
2. Moeen Ali = 188.8
3. Joe Root =159.4 (Up from 128.75)

Mixed blessings for our English contingent as Root improves his average by 30.65 whilst Bairstow dips by 23.17. Root takes Bairstow's top place spot away. YJB drops to 8th!!

Babar Azam - The Best Cricketer of the Week

Weekly Update

1. Babar Azam - 322 - Bat for that long and score that big you are going to do rather well on The List. This is his eight Cricketer of the Week award; the joint fourth of all time alongside Virat Kohli and Rashid Khan.

2. Rishabh Pant - 229 - Filling out the Strike Rate column rather nicely this week to gain yet another Top 5 finish. The Indian has been prolific this year.

3. Jonny Bairstow - 185 - Another century for Jonny sees him back in the Top 5 for the week. Has featured in three weeks of action this week and has finished in the Top 5 each time. Moves up two places to joint 11th

4. Pat Cummins - 174 - Not prolific in terms of wickets this year, but his economy is keeping him buoyed up. Retains 9th on the Overall List

5. Joe Root - 172 - A second successive Weekly Top 5 finish for Joe. Working his way back into 2021 form. Moves up a place to joint 11th overall.

Overall Top 5

1. Mohammad Rizwan - 1194 - There is not many times you score three figures and finish 8th for the week; however Rizwan keeps his lead at teht op - currently standing at 61.

2. Rishabh Pant - 1133 - The second player to cross the 1000 point barrier and there is now a little gap opened up between him and third. Last had second spot for a solitary week in Week 2.

3. Babar Azam - 911 - The 2020 Cricketer of the Year and the 2021 Bronze medallist moves into the Top 5 for the first time this year, surprisingly off the back of Test form - the weakest string to his bow.

4. Moeen Ali - 944 - A month's worth of inactivity has caught up with Moeen as he drops two places. Could be back in action next week for Worcestershire.

5. Quinton De Kock - 920 - Three weeks in 5th spot, three weeks in 3rd spot, Quinton now drops down to 5th again. Can he hold that for three weeks?

Other Movers

So many big scorers this week means a lot of movement lower than the top 5.

Jamieson's 152 moves him up a spot to 6th, whilst Stokes' 169 sees him into 14th.

The most surprising mover is Hasan Ali who only got 100 but is up 2 to 15th.

Ones to Watch

It doesn't get any closer than team mates Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow who are both locked on 515 points with a Test in play.

Top 3 Averages

1. Simon Harmer = 217.5 (Down from 280.67)
2. Moeen Ali = 188.8
3. Jonny Bairstow - 171.67 (Up from 165)

Such was Harmer's comically large average, a drop of 63.17 points still sees him nearly 30 points on average higher than second placed Moeen. Babar Azam's masterclass improves his average by 30.79 points to 130.14.

Simon Harmer - The Best Cricketer of the Week

An awful lot of Test Cricket this week and an awful lot of chopping and changing.

Weekly Top 5

1. Simon Harmer - 316 - Has featured in 3 weeks of cricket this year and has been the top point scorer in two of them. The man is a machine.

2. Marnus Labuschagne- 190 - Marnus was never outside the Top 3 during 2021; so far this year he has only spent 2 weeks in the Top 10 and has never breached the Top 5. A decent first Test sees him finish second for the week and move up a place to 10th.

3. Risabh Pant - 166 - Another destructive performance for Pant sees him lurch back up the table again and finish in the Top 5 for the week once more.

4. Joe Root - 154 - Not a lot of cricket to judge Root on this year but a decent score in the warm up game before WI v Eng sees him jump up a huge 5 places to 12th.

5. Jonny Bairstow - 136 - Jonny has only played two weeks of cricket this year but has registered three figure scores in both. Expect this trend to continue.

Overall Top 5

1. Mohammad Rizwan - 1044 - Rizwan struggled with the transition to Test Cricket and got the second to lowest score for the week. Was still enough to see him as the first player to score 1000 points for the year.

2. Moeen Ali - 944 - Inactive for the third successive week but such was his BPL form he has nothing to worry about this week.

3. Quinton De Kock - 920 - Inactive this week but just about holds off the charge from below.

4. Rishabh Pant - 904 - His batting display in IND vs SL has seen him back in the Top 5 once more. He has now occupied all of the Top 6 places in the first 10 weeks.

5. Simon Harmer - 842 - Another big haul sees Harmer halt his drift downwards and reassert himself back in the Top 5. The County Championship beckons where these big scores may well become the norm for the Saffer.

Other Significant Mover

Steve Smith was back in form in Australia's draw against Pakistan. This was enough to see him up a place to 11th.

Ones to Watch

The bottom half of the table has everything to play for. There is 57 points between Steve Smith in 11th and Travis Head in 15th. With Root, Bairstow and Stokes in between them we have a mini-Ashes battle playing out over two continents.

Top 3 Averages

1. Simon Harmer = 280.67 (Up from 263)
2. Moeen Ali = 188.8
3. Jonny Bairstow - 165

Marnus Labuschagne is the biggest achiever this week. He swells his average by 23.3 points and is now on 96.8. Rizwan's transition from T20s to Test has not served him well. He is down 16.69 points to 149.14. He is now out of the Top 3 highest averages and into 6th.

Phil Salt - The Best Cricketer of the Week

Weekly Top 5 1. Phil Salt - 197 - If Salt played in the Carribean every week he might put on Lara like figures. He finishes in first place...
