Marnus Labuschagne - The Best Cricketer of the Week

Weekly Top 5

1. Marnus Labuschagne - 356 - Marnus' 7th Cricketer of the Week accolade takes him joint level with Harmer for the year. Tellingly this score isn't in his top 3 highest for the year. When he plays....he scores big.

2. Babar Azam - 248 - Undoubtedly the star man of the T20 World Cup thus far. He has scored over a hundred points more than anyone else on our List and finishes in the Top 5 yet again. His 2756 T20 points for the year is also over 500 points more than anyone else.

3. Peter Handscomb - 180 - It has been a long time coming but Handscomb is back playing & back playing well. It looked ominous when he got just 15 runs in the first dig against New South Wales, but a century in the second innings sees him in the Top 5. Up 2 places to 13th overall

4. David Warner - 125 - Woefully out of form, the Aussie is rooted to the bottom of The overall List and is still 399 points adrift but a sparkling performance against Sri Lanka proved that there is still hope.

5. Virat Kohli - 97 - The captain's performance was one of the very few highlights for an Indian support in their defeat to Pakistan. Squeaks into the Top 5 and moves up a place overall to 9th.

Overall Top 5

1. Simon Harmer - 4452 - Another inactive week for Harmer and his lead is just 2 points.... but he is back in action on the South African domestic season so this tussle could go right down to the wire.

2. Marnus Labuschagne - 4450 - Has been the top scorer on the List for two of the last three weeks since his return to Australian domestic cricket. His eyes are very much now on the prize.

3. Babar Azam - 3778 - Mr T20 has spent 28 of the last 29 weeks in 4th place and he could wait no longer. Is up a spot to 3rd.

4. Joe Root - 3614 - That cancelled tour to Pakistan and the non-inclusion in the T20 World Cup squad has hurt Root. He has lost his Top 3 spot which he has held since the 3rd week of January. Needs a big Ashes tournament.

5. Moeen Ali - 3195 - Had absolutely zero pressure on him this week thanks to Quinton De Kock's....personal feelings. Only scored 50 for the week so is not exactly comfortable.

Ones to Watch

Other than the very narrow gap at the top, the narrowest gaps are in the middle and at the bottom. Virat Kohli has a 13 point lead on Dawid Malan for 9th position whilst Kane Williamson leads Steve Smith by just 17.

Peter Siddle - The Best Cricketer of the Week

Weekly Top 5

1. Peter Siddle- 232 - Has played the fourth least cricket of anyone on The List this year, however he has has made it count when he has. This is his second Cricketer of the Week and sees him move up 3 places to 12th on the Overall List.

2. Steve Smith - 227 - Almost doubled his T20 score with the two warm-up games against New Zealand and India and the opening game against South Africa. He is just 50 points from escaping from second to bottom position on the Overall List - a berth he has held for 10 weeks.

3. Moeen Ali - 166 - Where T20 is concerned Moeen will always be in the mix....and T20 is very much on the agenda going forward. He now has a 163 point lead on Maxwell for the second most points for T20s.

4. Babar Azam - 125 - The Pakistani batsmen got ANOTHER score of 50+ in the warm up against the West Indies. He now has a 100 point lead on Batting Bonus points on Quinton De Kock.

5. Marnus Labuschagne - 113 - A more calm Shffield Shield game for Marnus this time out, however he manages to squeak into the Top 5. It is always a good sign when an average performance gets you three figure totals for the week.

Overall Top 5

1. Simon Harmer - 4452 - His performances in the CSA Provincial T20 Cup have been a little Brucey Bonus for Harmer to keep the wolf from the door but the gap on Marnus is now 358 points.

2. Marnus Labuschagne - 4094 - In just two weeks of Antipodean action, Marnus has shaved 201 points off Harmer's lead. You feel it is a matter of time.

3. Joe Root - 3614 - While the England T20 side are heating up in the UAE, Root is out in the cold. This is his 6th inactive week out of the last 7.

4. Babar Azam - 3530 - The T20 top point scorer has held down fourth spot for a staggering 22 weeks....a decent T20 World Cup could see him move up a place.

5. Moeen Ali - 3145 - Moeen is back up into fifth place after a poor start to the T20 World Cup for Quinton De Kock. The last time he overtook the South African he stayed there for a solitary week. Can he hold on longer term?

Ones to Watch

50 points separate 9th placed Dawid Malan, tenth placed Virat Kohli and eleventh placed Glenn Maxwell. Maxwell's weekly average is the only one North of 100 whilst Malan's is the second lowest of anyone in the least. I would be expecting those three places to reverse themselves over the course of the T20 World Cup.

Highest Players by Format

Long Form - Joe Root - 3140
50 Over - Simon Harmer - 954
T20 - Babar Azam - 2508

1. Simon Harmer - 186.5 (Down from 190.96)
3. Joe Root - 164.27

AGAIN. Ashwin's average took the biggest drop. In 3 weeks he has gone from the highest average to the 7th highest. Steve Smith's change in T20 fortune sees him up 10.5 points to 132.5.

Marnus Labuschagne - The Best Cricketer of the Week

Weekly Update

As the IPL ground down and the T20 World Cup gears up, there was not enough active cricketers for a Top 5 this week - so a top 3 it is....

1. Marnus Labuschagne - 148 - After ten weeks out the game, it did not take long for Marnus to top the table for the week sixth time this year. It is worth noting that this is the seventh lowest score for the Number One player for a week since records began.

2. Peter Siddle - 140 - A long spell away has ended for Siddle. He scored just 30 points in the Sheffield Shield game against Queensland but got a three-fer in the Marsh Cup to boost his score.

3. Moeen Ali - 113 - Moeen is now the second highest T20 point scorer on our List and can thank his sparkling IPL 2021 performance....now onwards to the World Cup.

Overall List

The fifth successive week of an unchanged Overall Top 5, in fact only Marnus was the only active player in the Top 5. He narrows the gap between himself and Harmer down to 411.

Simon Harmer 4392
Marnus Labuschagne 3981
Joe Root 3614
Babar Azam 3405
Quinton De Kock 3055

Ones to Watch

The narrowest gap on the List is the 25 points between 9th placed Malan and 10th placed Kohli - both of whom are likely to be key contributors for their respective sides in the T20 World Cup.

2. Marnus Labuschagne - 189.57 (Down from 191.65)

For the third successive week Ravichandran Ashwin's average drops by more than 5 points - at the start of this leg of the IPL he had the highest average in the List, he now has the fifth.

Phil Salt - The Best Cricketer of the Week

Weekly Top 5 1. Phil Salt - 197 - If Salt played in the Carribean every week he might put on Lara like figures. He finishes in first place...
