Sam Curran - The Best Cricketer of the Week

This week was a bumper one with 2314 points scored - the highest of the year to date. To get into the weekly Top 5 you needed 200+ points....let's see who cleared that bar.

Weekly Top 5

1. Sam Curran - 327 - Scored more points in a single County Championship game for Surrey than he did in his entire season for Chennai in the IPL. This bumper score, the joint fourth highest of the year, sees him move up from 11th to 7th in the Overall List.

2. Phil Salt - 308 - Salt was seemingly being iced out of RCB's title challenge but has shown the grit to come back and fight for his place - largely thanks to some high profile withdrawals. 3 games and 2 half centuries puts him move up from 14th to 8th in a very fluid midtable.

3. Harry Brook - 296 - Scored more points this week than he has done in the last 20 weeks of 2025. This is the start of a very busy Summer for the All Format Englishman. You suspect his move from rock bottom to 19th is just the start.

4. Heinrich Klaasen - 239 - Has been frustratingly inconsistent for Hyderabad in this year's IPL. With 987 points across the tournament you cannot begrudge him too much but he ended the tournament with a bang courtesy of a blockbuster 100 against Kolkata.

5. Liam Dawson - 223 - After a mere 76 point a fortnight ago against Warwickshire, Dawson made up for it with 168 versus Sussex and then topped it up with 55 in a T20 Blast Warm up game for Hampshire 2nd XI versus Middlesex Second XI.

Overall Top 5

1. Nat Sciver-Brunt - 1872 - Disappointed in her first foray as captain with a mere 40 Fielding points but was back to her best in the following two T20s. This week's 182 saw her reclaim the top berth she lost 3 weeks ago.

2. Ravindra Jadeja - 1788 - Ended this year's IPL (and maybe his IPL career) with a decent score of 91 courtesy of two wickets and 21 runs against Gujarat. He drops down one place.

3. Jos Buttler - 1665 - A disappointing score of just 5 runs in his final game for Gujarat but a decent quick(ish) 37 against West Indies for England sees him move up into the Top 3.

4. Heinrich Klaasen - 1640 - Klaasen's huge weekly score sees him return back into the Top 5 after 3 weeks away. Difficult times lie ahead as he seems to be out of favour internationally but what a gun to hire if that is his chosen route now.

5. Nicholas Pooran - 1637 - Started the IPL like his life depended on it but then fell away. Ending the tournament with a weekly score of 13 and just holding off Liam Dawson by 15 point seems about right.

Other Movers

In lower scoring weeks we would be screaming their achievements from the rooftops but Rishabh Pant (178) and Travis Head (143) don't make the cut this week. They do, however, move up with the Indian up 3 to 18th and the Aussie up 1 to 15th.

Top 3 Averages

1. Nat Sciver-Brunt – 156 (Up from 153.67)
2. Sam Curran - 153.8 (Up from 134.56)
3. Chamari Athapaththu - 143.6

Some huge swings this week. Harry Brook's lack of cricket and is huge change in form sees his average bump by 32.13 to 82.13. Saim Ayub's 0 sees his depreciate by 10.35 to 62.

Yashasvi Jaiswal - The Best Cricketer of the Week

Normal service has resumed after last week’s stopgap with 1325 points split between 14 people.

Weekly Top 5

1. Yashasvi Jaiswal - 196 - Back with a bit of a bang after the break. All too little and too late for Rajasthan but moves himself up two places to 13th on the Overall List. It his first COTW of the year and second of all time.

2. Nicholas Pooran - 191 - 667 in the first 4 weeks of the IPL, 103 in the next 4 weeks and then back to form when it doesn't matter anymore for Lucknow.

3. Babar Azam - 170 - Must have hit the nets during the T20 franchise hiatus. Back with a huge score of 94 against Kaarachi - by some distance his most impressive score of the year. Up 3 places to 10th.

4. Suryakumar Yadav - 123 - Continues his decent IPL. In only two weeks of the tournament has he registered scores not in three figures. Moves up to 8th overall - his highest position of the year.

=5. Pathum Nissanka - 110 - Has been inactive since his domestic double hundred 6 weeks ago and scored a 50 in 21 balls for some big scoring of a different creed as the Major Clubs T20 Tournament.

=5. Jasprit Bumrah - 110 - Just the one game for the Mumbai man but got a perfect score. 3 wickets (and therefore 20 Wicket Bonus Points) and 30 points for Economy.

Overall Top 5

1. Ravindra Jadeja - 1697 - Should count himself very lucky to have got to his hat trick of weeks at Number 1. Only eleven points scored and only 7 points separating him and second place.

2. Nat Sciver-Brunt - 1690 - Back into action this week with a rather unimpressive score of 40 fieldling points. If she had contributed anything with bat or ball she would have reclaimed her hold on top spot....maybe next week.

3. Nicholas Pooran - 1624 - Finished second in the weekly scores which is enough to see him move up one place to third in the Overall List. Bit of a gap between him and 4th.

4. Jos Buttler - 1583 - A relatively fast 33 saw Jos get 73 points this week and drop back a place to 3rd. Soon to leave India and join up with England for the series against West Indie. Should bolster his scores there...depending which Buttler shows up.

5. Chamari Athapaththu - 1436 - inactive this week and moves down a place to 5th. Has Heinrich Klaasen with two matches left in him for Hyderabad breathing down her next with only 35 points of cushion.

Ones to Watch

Keep your eyes on the cluster just outside the Top 10 with 100 points separating Athapaththu, Klaasen and Liam Dawson in 5th, 6th and 7th.

Top 3 Averages

1. Nat Sciver-Brunt – 153.67 ( Down from 165)
2. Chamari Athapaththu - 143.6
3. Nicholas Pooran – 135.33 (Up from 130.27)

NSB leaked 11.36 off her average this week but still is in top spot. The largest improvement was Yahasvi Jaiswal who moves up 8.82 points to 107.82.

Liam Dawson - The Best Cricketer of the Week

 Weekly Round Up

What a weird week.

After 7 weeks of scores in the thousands, a geopolitical crisis means a week where only two players featured and a mere 187 points are scored.

The largest beneficiary of this is England's Liam Dawson who gets the joint second lowest weekly high score in our history. His 119 is matched only by Usman Khawaja's score in October 2024 and one better than Azam's 55 in March of the same year. He also moves up to 7th Overall.

Also there is Chamari Athapaththu whose score of 71 sees him move up to fourth place in the Overall List - her highest place in 5 weeks. Over the last 3 weeks nobody has scored more points than her as she has moved from 11th to 4th.

Ones to Watch

Liam Dawson's free week puts him a solitary point behind Heinrich Klaasen as the IPL grinds back into action.

Top 3 Averages

Chamari Athapaththu - the Best Cricketer of the Week

Back to a high scoring week this week before what is going to be a Geo-Politically very quiet week next week

Weekly Top 5

1. Chamari Athapaththu - 245 - Following the playbook from last year - long periods absent from the game and then some huge haymaking while the sun shines. Only Nat Sciver Brunt has had more Cricketers of the Week this year - this is her third.

2. Liam Dawson - His first big scoring week in the County Championship courtesy of a five-fer and his full compliment of economy points against Durham. Breaks into the Top Ten for the first time since the end of the SA20.

3. Jos Buttler - 194 - 94 runs across two innings gives Buttler third place in a week where he also overtakes Nat Sciver Brunt as the highest run scorer on the List.

4. Ravindra Jadeja - 176 - After a slow start to the tournament, Jadeja has burst into life of late with three back to back 3 figure scoring weeks. Only Buttler and SKY have scored more than him in that time.

5. Babar Azam - 141 - Back to looking like he might have seen a cricket bat at some point in his life in at least one innings this week. 53 versus Islamabad this week sees him ease into the Top 5 for the week despite letting himself down (again) in the game against Multan.

Overall Top 5

1. Ravindra Jadeja - 1686 - Despite being in our Lists for 4 years, Jadeja has never graced top spot until this week. His slow burning IPL campaign has seen him ease into top spot with a 36 point lead.

2. Nat Sciver-Brunt - 1650 - Parenthood is an amazing thing...but it doesn't score you many points. After 7 inactive weeks, NSB loses her 10 week reign at the top of the List.

3. Jos Buttler - 1510 - The fifth highest run scorer in the IPL and the highest run scorer in our List moves up a place to third after yet another half century this week.

4. Nicholas Pooran - 1433 - After scoring 528 points in the first three weeks of the IPL he has now scored 103 in the last three weeks to see him down a place this week to 4th.

5. Chamari Athapaththu - 1365 - Lost her Top 5 place a month ago and slipped as low as 11th last week but a bumper week for the Sri Lanka captain moves her back into 5th spot.

Ones to Watch

With the IPL being suspended for at least a week, it is a chance for Liam Dawson to do some damage on the Top 10. Currently he is tenth but a mere 158 points separate him and Chamari Athapaththu in 5th.

Other Movers

Meagre scores from Mumabi's SKY and Bumrah this week but they both move up a spot. SKY is in 8th with Bumrah up to 20th.

Top 3 Averages

1. Nat Sciver-Brunt - 165
2. Chamari Athapaththu - 151.67 (Up from 140)
3. Sam Curran = 134.56 (Down from 147)

In a rare occurence the two most noteable movers on the average table are in the Top 3. Athapaththu moves back into the Top 3 courtesy of a 11.67 point boost to her average whilst Curran drops 12.44
