Simon Harmer - The Best Cricketer of the Week

 Weekly Top 5

1. Simon Harmer - 307 - Like the twinkling of an ice cream man's chimes lilting across a meadow on a warm afternoon, Harmer registering a huge score means the Summer has really started. Took longer than we thought but is back in the top spot once more.

2. Marnus Labuschagne - 174 - Back from 10 (!!!) weeks in the wilderness but straight in at second place courtesy of a century in his second innings century against Middlesex.

3. Virat Kohli - 150 - Two games for Kohli this week, the last of which led to Bengaluru's elimination from the competition. He has scored 1341 points across the IPL season. To put that into comparison the second highest point scorer was Phil Salt with 426 fewer.

4. Rachin Ravindra - 111 - Looked like he was going to take the IPL by storm with 223 points in his first week....however this score is his second highest in that time. In the intervening weeks he averaged just 24.

5. James Vince - 92 - Has yet to convert his white ball prowess back into red ball form, however his 36 & 6 against Nottinghamshire somehow sees him nab 5th place this week.

Overall Top 5

1. Babar Azam - 2359 - Only inactive this week courtesy of the Birmingham rain. Will be undoubtably back in the points next week.

2. Chamari Athapaththu - 1989 - Continues her inactive spell. Has almost seen off the threat of the IPL boys behind her. How long can she keep her spot?

3. Yashasvi Jaiswal - 1878 - A decent score of 45 at a decent lick sees Jaiswal hold third place for a third week. A decent run in could see him up to second by next week.

4. Ravindra Jadeja - 1709 - Finished the IPL strongly with a final score of 72 against Bengaluru. Wasn't enough to see them progress in the competition though.

5. James Vince - 1611 - Vince has Travis Head's abandonment of form to thank for his return into the Top 5. 0 from two games from the Aussie was trumped by the Hampshire man's score of 92 this week.

Ones To Watch

A back in form Simon Harmer is in action versus Kent this week whilst Moeen will be back in international colours this week. Just 7 points separate them in 13th and 14th.

Top 3 Average Points per Active Week

1. Babar Azam -181.46 (Up from 176.42)
2. Chamari Athapaththu - 165.75
3. Virat Kohli - 135.27 (Up from 133.8)

Obviously Travis Head's score of 0 has seen him descent the most, to the tune of -7.46. Meanwhile Harmer remembering how to bowl again improves his average by 21.05 - up to 96.45.

Babar Azam - The Best Cricketer of the Week

Weekly Top 5

1. Babar Azam - 242 - Fourth Cricketer of the Week accolade for Azam who scored the highest score for the week despite scoring 0 points in the middle T20 against Ireland. This is his 19th COTW in his five years on the List. Just 23 to catch up to Harmer who has the most.

2. Daryl Mithcell - 165 - Seems to have put his poor form behind him. Helps that he played two games (but then again so did our other 3 Chennai players). Despite the second highest score of the week he holds 13th place overall with a 65 point gap to 12th.

3. Shubman Gill - 164 - Hasn't been a vintage IPL for Gill. After having scored 346 points in the first fortnight, he then went on to bag 87 up to last week. His 104 against Chennai a reminder of his prodigious form.

4. Sam Curran - 153 - Not hugely eye-catching this campaign but has been fairly consistent. This is his third 100+ score across the tournament. Moves up 3 places to 8th overall in a very fluid mid-table.

5. Moeen Ali - 116 - Has been much more of an asset for Chennai in the second half of the season. He scored 40 fewer points in his two games this week than he has in his whole competition up to this point.

Overall Top 5

1. Babar Azam - 2359 - Sat there in his top position for a 13th week. The chasing pack seemed to be edging closer, but his weekly high score jerks him away form them once more. The 370 point gap between him and second is the largest on the List once more.

2. Chamari Athapaththu - 1989 - A well earned rest for the Sri Lankan captain after her Women's T20 World Cup Qualifier heroics. The problem is that break could extend as long as June and a series with West Indies Women.

3. Yashasvi Jaiswal - 1793 - Just 62 points scored over the last fortnight; rather undoing his three weeks of three figure scores before that. Still holds third though.

4. Ravindra Jadeja - 1637 - Controversy dogged Jadeja this week but over and above that he scored modestly but still retains fourth spot.

5. Travis Head - 1567 - Inactive this week but a poor week for James Vince sees him hold fifth with a gap of 48 from the Hampshire captain.

Top 3 Average Points per Active Week

1. Babar Azam -181.46 (Up from 176.42)
2. Chamari Athapaththu - 165.75
3. Virat Kohli - 133.8 (Down from 141.21)

Daryl Mitchel's average improves the most - however even an improvement of 5.6 doesn't see him edge over the 100 points a week mark. Buttler drops the most for the second consecutive week - down by 7.51, he has leaked 17.84 points on his average in the last fortnight.

Chamari Athapaththu - The Best Cricketer of the Week

Huge amount of movement this week on our Overall List with only 8 people in the same position they were last week.

Weekly Top 5

1. Chamari Athapaththu - 357 - Returning for a third highest scoring week of 2024 - the joint most alongside Azam and Ravindra. Scored 57% of her points with the bat and then contributed with the ball too courtesy of 5 wickets across her three games this week.

2. Virat Kohli - 244 - Continuing his personal dominance of the IPL, despite his team's dire form. This week's score is his highest of 2024 thus far. He moves into the Top 10 overall for the first time since Week 1.

3. Travis Head - 227 - Isn't fooling around in this year's IPL. Say's something when his score of 48 off 30 vs Mumbai is one of his more pedestrian outings of the last fortnight.

4. Ravindra Jadeja - 173 - A stonking performance from just one game this week as he contributed with both bat and ball against Punjab.

5. Sam Curran - 129 - Did just enough to edge into the Top 5 this week despite not really looking impressive in any of his disciplines - however did just enough to beat a rather underwhelming chasing pack.

Overall Top 5

1. Babar Azam - 2117 - Inactive this week and his lead is a fairly obtainable 128. He is in action as I type though and will be expected to do big things against Ireland.

2. Chamari Athapaththu - 1989 - Bursts up the table once more and moves into second spot; her highest performance for 14 weeks. Frustratingly now will take a break from cricket. How low will she slump from here?

3. Yashasvi Jaiswal - 1735 - Seems to be in a bit of a pickle again with just 4 points to his name this week that sees him drop off the pace a little this week. Down a place to third.

4. Ravindra Jadeja - 1594 - Back up a place this week courtesy of his one man show against Punjab. Seems to like jumping up and down between 4th and 5th - but has 141 points between him and third this week.

5. Travis Head - 1567 - Makes his Top 5 bow for the first time in his two years in our Lists. In this kind of form he will be looking up rather than at the 124 points between himself and James Vince in 6th.

Ones to Watch

Virat Kohli, all sparks and pyrotechnics, goes up against the grinding persistency of Sam Curran this week. 2 points separate them in a battle for 10th place.

Other Movers

Three players move up despite meagre scores this week. Harry Brook's 95 sees him up a spot to 10th whilst Phil Salt got 107 to move to 9th. Moeen is the luckiest boy - he scores just 17 and moves up a spot to 15th.

Top 3 Average Points per Active Week

1. Babar Azam - 176.42
2. Chamari Athapaththu - 165.75 (Up from 148.36)
3. Virat Kohli - 141.21 (Up from 128.35)

Chamari Athapaththu moves up the most - an improvement of 17.39 points to 165 and 3/4. Jos Buttler continues his descent down the averages and decreases by 10.34 to 122.36.

Phil Salt's good week sees his average swell by 19.35 to 109.45 whilst Jadeja's off week sees him drop by 9.72 to 129.18.

Phil Salt - The Best Cricketer of the Week

The fifth highest week for point scoring with 9 triple figure scores. Last week's highest score would see you finishing 5th this week.

Weekly Top 5

1. Phil Salt - 303 - Very very strong form from the English Kolkata player courtesy of two half centuries at Strike Rates over 200. A month ago he was 18th in the Overall List; this week he moves into 10th spot.

2. Chamari Athapaththu - 253 - Seems rather unfair that one of the best all rounders to play the Women's game is turning out against part timers from Uganda and Scotland to qualify for the T20 World Cup...but the Sri Lankan is certainly making the most of playing the minnows.

3. Harry Brook - 176 - 126 against Derbyshire sees him fine early season form for Yorkshire continue. Leicestershire are next up for the young man. He moves off bottom spot after just 4 active week, pushing Khawaja to bottom spot.

4. Yashasvi Jaiswal - 171 - Took him a while but the Rajasthan player is now in good form once more with 91 runs scored across 2 innings.

5. Daryl Mitchell - 163 - Snapped out of a series of poor run scoring with 52 against Hyderabad. Also notable for the fact that he scored 70 Fielding points in that game courtesy of 5(!!!) catches.

Overall Top 5

1. Babar Azam - 2117 - Ended the series against New Zealand with his best performance, netting 69 runs and 129 points. His lead is down to 386 and has a week off now before a T20 series against Ireland.

2. Yashasvi Jaiswal - 1731 - Holds second spot for a month (shared for one week). Moves closer to first place this week - but does not shake off the chasing pack.

3. Chamari Athapaththu - 1632 - Takes advantage of a fairly weak field of opponents to move up to her highest position in three months.

4. James Vince - 1443 - Is not living up to expectation in the County Championship this season. After last week's score of 16, he bagged just 31 this week. Down a place to 4th as a result.

5. Ravindra Jadeja - 1421 - Back in his safe space of 5th place after a fairly disappointing couple of games for Chennai. Only 58 points from Ravindra in 6th and another 23 to the encroaching Travis Head.

Other Movers

Two players fell outside our weekly Top 5 but still made overall progress. Travis Head's 111 saw him finish in 8th for the week but he moves up to 7th whilst Harmer's 103 was enough to see him up a place to 17th.

Top 3 Average Points per Active Week

1. Babar Azam - 176.42 (Down from 180.73)
2. Chamari Athapaththu - 148.36 (Up from 137.9)

Phil Salt - The Best Cricketer of the Week

Weekly Top 5 1. Phil Salt - 197 - If Salt played in the Carribean every week he might put on Lara like figures. He finishes in first place...
