Yashasvi Jaiswal - The Best Cricketer of the Week

 Weekly Top 5

1. Yashasvi Jaiswal - 164 - By his high standards of 2024, Jaiswal has had an underwhelming IPL season but reminded us all of his good form with his solitary outing against Mumbai this week. Surprisingly his first Cricketer of the Week award of the year.

2. Travis Head - 150 - Is making it all look very easy. Carried on his good form from last week into a score of 89 against Delhi and his third successive Top 5 finish. Up a place to 8th overall.

3. Simon Harmer - 129 - Almost silently grinding away like an illustrious beaver in the County Championship. Not drawing huge amounts of accolades but piling on triple figure weekly scores. Up another place to 19th this week.

4. Ravindra Jadeja - 123 - Jadeja must have been drooling at the prospect of the second match against Lucknow after he scored 97 in the first match....ultimately flopped in the second outing to finish in fourth place.

5. Virat Kohli - 119 - Continually piling on scoreboard pressure at the bottom half of the overall table with successive triple figure weekly scores. Up 3 places to 13th; this week's biggest mover.

Overall Top 5

1. Babar Azam - 1988 - Three T20s this week and only 86 points to show for it. His lead is down to a mere 428.

2. Yashasvi Jaiswal - 1560 - His weekly high score pushes him away from the chasing pack. Shared second place last week and now has a 148 point lead on third.

3. James Vince - 1412 - Only 6 runs against Warwickshire this week but still manages to just about hold onto third place.

4. Ravindra Jadeja - 1389 - Fell out of the Top 5 last week but has burst straight back up to fourth spot this week thanks to his three figure weekly score.

5. Chamari Athapaththu - 1379 - After her record breaking week last week, 36 points for a game against Thailand seems rather flat. Plenty more cricket in the Women's T20 World Cup Qualifiers though.

Other Movers

Phil Salt's blistering knock of 48 off 14 sees him finish 6th for the week but move up a place to 14th.

Ones to Watch

The closest gap this week is between two Chennai flops. There is two points difference between Moeen Ali in 15th and Daryl Mitchell in 16th.

Top 3 Average Points per Active Week

1. Babar Azam - 180.73 (Down from 190.2)
2. Jos Buttler - 140.33 (Down from 151)
3. Ravindra Jadeja - 138.9 (Down from 140.67)

Simon Harmer moves up the most with a 7.53 point improvement to 77. Harry Brook's embryonic average was always going to drop but his score of just 3 this week sess it deflate by 51.33 points.

Chamari Athapaththu - The Best Cricketer of the Week

Weekly Top 5

1. Chamari Athapaththu - 366 - A record breaking week for Chamari. She scored the second highest score in Women's ODI history and gets her second Cricketer of the Week accolade after what has been a rather underwhelming run of games against South Africa.

2. Travis Head - 172 - Making a habit of coming out of nowhere with a humungous score and then fading into the background for a few fixtures again. A century vs Bengaluru seals him second place. Moves up to 9th.

3. Phil Salt - 169 - Been a hit and miss IPL for Salt so far. This week, his hit was bigger than his miss; his 89 against Lucknow outbalancing his 10 vs Rajasthan.

4. Jos Buttler - 167 - A second century of the IPL season for Jos sees him in the Top 5 for the second week in a row. Looking much more like his old self again.

=5. Harry Brook - 154 - A hundred on 2024 debut followed by 94 across two innings against Gloucestershire. Certainly looks like he will be picking up points for fun in his County Championship spell.

=5. Simon Harmer = 154 = Such is our level of expectation for Harmer that a 5th place finish for the second week in a row seems underwhelming. Has scored nearly 40% of his points from Economy points in lieu of any significant wickets. Moves up to 20th.

Overall Top 5

1. Babar Azam - 1901 - Was due to be back in action but that has been delayed by the weather. His lead on second is a smidge over half a thousand.

=2. Yashasvi Jaiswal - 1396 - His weeks are improving but his IPL points are way down on last year. Should count himself lucky he manages to keep 2nd.

=2. James Vince - 1396 - Lost second place due to the wash out in the first round of County Championship figures but claims it back again courtesy of 89 runs against Lancashire.

4. Rachin Ravindra - 1363 - Another lean week for the New Zealand wunderkind and he is starting to drop down the table.

5. Chamari Athapaththu - 1343 - A staggering week sees the Sri Lankan captain back into the Top 5 once more after 9 weeks away.

Other Movers

Sam Curran is up a place once more and finds himself rounding off the overall Top 10.

Ones To Watch

If you discount Azam's massive lead, the gaps are small - averaging 54 points between any players. The eye is drawn to the tied scores in joint second.

Top 3 Average Points per Active Week

1. Babar Azam - 190.2
2. Harry Brook = 157
3. Jos Buttler - 151 (Up from 148.7)

Jadeja's poor week sees him drop 16 points and out of the Top 3 highest overall averages. Athapaththu's Mummy Hundred improves her average by 27.09 - up to 122.13.

Virat Kohli - The Best Cricketer of the Week

Weekly Top 5

1. Virat Kohli - 196 - Virat's fine run scoring spell continues as he finishes top for the first time since 2021. He continues his rise up the overall list too. After spending 7 weeks in 21st , he went up a spot to 20th, then again to 19th and then a big leap up to 16th this week

2. Jos Buttler - 188 - Was in an awful run of form before the game against Bengaluru but gave us a taste of old school Jos. Leaps up to 7th place, arresting last year's top point scorer's slide down the overall List.

3. Ravindra Jadeja - 181 - Impressed with bat and ball again this week as he cements himself in the Weekly Top 5 for a third week in a row.

4. Harry Brook - Took him until April to get back into cricket but it was like the young man was never away. he takes his 2024 bow in fourth place for the week. Is just 173 points below Simon Harmer in 21st place in the Overall List. Can he reel that in next week?

5. Shubman Gill - 141 - One decent score and one good score sees last week's number 1 cricketer round off the weekly Top 5.

Overall Top 5

1. Babar Azam - 1901 - Inactive once more but is still acres out in front. His gap of 593 points to second is by some distance the largest in the entire list; Steve Smith's 200 point gap on Usman Khawaja is second.

2. Yashasvi Jaiswal - 1318 - Another underwhelming week for the Rajasthan boy, however he manages to jump up 2 places and get up to 2nd place....however there is a chasing pack breathing right down his neck.

3. Rachin Ravindra - 1312 - Has rather lost his early IPL form. He manages to hold third place despite the movement around him.

4. James Vince - 1277 - The English weather sess Vince drop to his lowest position in 9 weeks. Will be back in action this week an still has it all to play for with those above him still within touching distance.

5. Ravindra Jadeja - 1256 - Yet another week in 5th place. This is now his 6th consecutive week in 5th. Only Azam's 9 week spell in 1st and Vince and Kohli's seven week spells in 2nd and 21st respectively has seen a player remain in one position longer.

Other Movers

Such is the tight crush just outside the Top 10 that a relatively modest score can see you move up a place. Such has been the case with Sam Curran (99 points) and Daryl Mitchell (78 points). they have both moved up a place and are in 11th and 13th respectively.

Top 3 Average Points per Active Week

1. Babar Azam - 190.2
2. Ravindra Jadeja - 157 (Up from 153.57)
3. Jos Buttler - 148.7 (Up from 142.17)

For the third consectuive week, Kohli has improved his average by the most. A month ago his average was 73.5 - it is now 141.2. Phil Salt's score of 0 sees his average drop the most - down 11.14 to 78.

Shubman Gill - The Best Cricketer of the Week

Weekly Update

1. Shubman Gill - 205 - After a tricky start to the year Gill is back in good form. Last year's third place player is easing up the table and jumps from 11th to 6th in the overall table this week thanks to 39 against Hyderabad and 89 against Punjab.

2. Chamari Athapaththu - 179 - Pulls out of her nosedive of very poor scores to register a decent score thanks to 73 in the third T20 against South Africa. Jumps up from 9th to 7th.

3. Virat Kohli - 175 - Being the highest run scorer in the IPL will obviously see you up near the top of the points. He is also slowly but surely dragging himself away from the bottom of the Overall list. Up a further place to 19th this week with Steve Smith 28 points above him.

4. Phil Salt - 108 - Two decent outings against Bengaluru and Delhi sees him tip over the three figure mark and move into seventeenth place overall while he is at it.

5. Glenn Maxwell - 98 - Not hit the electric form of which he is most capable of but scored 20+ runs at a decent lick and got a couple of wickets this week to see him round off the top 5 for the week.

Overall List

1. Babar Azam - 1901 - Despite another inactive week, Azam still manages to keep his 624 point gap on second place who also remains inactive.

2. James Vince - 1277 - A third and final (weather-permitting) inactive week and Vince manages to hold on to second place by just 12 points.

3. Rachin Ravindra - 1265 - Has been the breakout success of 2024 but scores a mere 2 points this week and retains 3rd place.

4. Yashasvi Jaiswal - 1264 - Only 10 runs for the Indian superstar this week sees him hold onto fourth place for a second week. Could be anywhere between 4th and 2nd by this time next week such is the narrow gap between those places.

5. Ravindra Jadeja - 1075 - Another week in his most favoured position. Has Shubman Gill 80 points below him now so he needs to score more than the 61 or 62 points he has scored in the last fortnight to keep the wolf from the door.

Other Movers

Sam Curran moves up 1 place to 12th having finishes with the 6th highest score of 85 for the week.

Ones to Watch

It has to be that one point gap between Chennai's Ravindra and Rajasthan's Jaiswal. Add James Vince back in action and that top 5 could look very different next week.

Top 3 Average Points per Active Week

1. Babar Azam - 190.2
2. Ravindra Jadeja - 153.57 (Down from 169)
3. Jos Buttler - 142.17 (Down from 168)

In a week where all but 4 people's averages moved down, Ravindra's moved down the most - a decline of 17.32. Kohli's goes in the opposite direction; up 15.83 to 127.5 a week.
