Ravindra Jadeja - The Best Cricketer of the Week

Weekly Top 5

1. Ravindra Jadeja - 352 - Jadeja is playing by last year's playbook. Don't play very often...but when you do; dominate. And such was the case last week with a century plus 8 wickets. His eight Cricketer of the Week accolade in his three years on our List.

2. Yashasvi Jaiswal - 294 - Certainly making a very impressive start to 2024 with another quickfire double hundred. This from a player who was seen as more of a short form specialist too!

3. Babar Azam - 240 - Death, taxes and half centuries from Babar Azam in the PSL. He is 2 for 2 in this regard this week and you wouldn't bet against him getting a fistful more before the end of the tournament.

4. Mitchell Marsh - 218 - After such a fantastic year last year, Marsh has failed to impress in 2024....until this week. He added almost 100 points to his previously week high score for the year thanks to one high score and one impactful one against New Zealand. Moves up to 13th overall.

5. Travis Head - 139 - Makes his debut in the weekly Top 5 after a period away with injury. Scores of 24 at a decent lick and 45 at a phenomenal lick see him edge into recognition this week. Despite this he does move down to 17th place overall.

Overall Top 5

1. Babar Azam - 1133 - You always felt that, with the PSL on the horizon, that Babar's spell away from top spot might be limited. And so it came to pass. Only a week in silver medal position before returning back to the summit.

2. James Vince - 1026 - The step up in class from the ILT20 to the PSL has seen Vince drop his week on week points by 145, his average by 9.32 and, most importantly, drop from first to second. Plenty more cricket to play though.

3. Yashasvi Jaiswal - 945 - His double century versus England sees Jaiswal move into his highest position thus far. The 147 points between him and 4th spot is the second most of any on the list, so he will be looking up and not down.

4. Jos Buttler - 798 - Inactive once more and is 70 points away from dropping out of the Top 5. Expect that to happen next week.

5. Rachin Ravindra - 795 - Showed that he could turn it on in all three formats of the game with a decent score in the solitary T20 he played against Australia. Being rested for the second game sees the young Kiwi drop to 5th spot this week.

Other Movers

Gill's performance in the third Test against England felt more impactful than the 121 points he scored for it - it did, however, see him move up a spot to 14th.

Top 3 Average Points per Active Week

1. Ravindra Jadeja - 210.33 (Up from 139.5)
2. Jos Buttler - 199.5
3. Yashasvi Jaiswal - 189 (Up from 162.75)

Just the 70 point boost to Jaiswal's average this week as he swells to 210.33. He spent a long period of 2023 with a plus 200 average before finishing with a not unimpressive 144.74. Smith's average decreases the most; down to 88.6.

Moeen Ali - The Best Cricketer of the Week

Weekly Top 5

1. Moeen Ali - 253 - There's been a lot of chat about the T20 Franchise carousel this week and Moeen Ali is certain one of the horses that benefits the most from it. Straight from the SA20 to BPL 2024 and right back in the thick of the points.

2. Glenn Maxwell - 242 - Brought back echoes of his huge World Cup knock this week with a scorching 55 ball 120 in the 2nd T20 versus West Indies. His highest score of 2024 sees him move up to 6th in the Overall List...and 10 points off 4th.

3. Rachin Ravindra - 209 - Fresh off his huge score in the first Test, RR doubles up with a very different but similarly eye-catching performance in the second. This time it was with the ball that he most impressed - picking up three quarters of his points with ball in hand.

4. James Vince - 208 - Refuses to stop scoring runs. Played 3 T20 games this week and got 50s in two of them (admittedly slightly blotted his copy book with a duck in the other one). He is now straight on the plane to Karachi to continue his world tour in PSL 2024.

5. Phil Salt - 146 - The step down from a second tier T20 competition (SA20) to a fourth tier one (ILT20) sees Phil Salt score his highest score to date. The fact that is only in the mid hundreds tells a tale of it's own - however he moves up the Overall List to 14th.

Overall Top 5

1. James Vince - 963 - The top run scorer from the ILT20 league also takes control of the Overall List this week. Is ,perhaps, a surprise candidate to be our first player to tick over to a thousand points but here we are. Now onto the PSL.

2. Babar Azam - 893 - Inactive this week but Babar has made an absolute killing in the PSL in previous years. Just 70 points separates him from top spot so he could be back on the top of the tree very shortly.

3. Jos Buttler - 798 - Inactive this week and, from what I can see, for many more weeks to come. How far will Buttler fall?

4. Rachin Ravindra - 667 - Was in bottom spot a fortnight ago and in two great leaps is now up there at the top table. Can he now perform in the T20 series against Australia to really mark his card as an all format cricketer?

5. Moeen Ali - 662 - Top scores for the week and moves up 7(!!) places to make his debut in the Top 5....however it is very close with Glenn Maxwell just 5 points below him and Jaiswal another 6 points below that.

Other Movers

Two Aussies, in the form of Labuschagne & Marsh, score two similarly modest scores (94 & 86) but both move up 3 places to 17th and 10th respectively.

Top 3 Average Points per Active Week

1. Jos Buttler - 199.5
2. Babar Azam - 178.6
3. Rachin Ravindra - 166.75 (Up from 152.67)

Moeen Ali's average went from being OK (102.25) to very good (132.4) largely thanks to his one performance against Chattogram. Aaron Hardie's post-BBL malaise continues as he drops 5.1 points and is down to 66.57 a week - the third worst average of anyone.

Rachin Ravindra - The Best Cricketer of the Week

It has been one of the highest scoring weeks on record. All of the Top Five point scorers of this week have scores of 200+.

Top 5 for the Week

1. Rachin Ravindra - 412 - The Kiwi started the week in last place on the List and finishes it in 6th. This is thanks to the 18th largest score since we started this game. A hugely impressive debut Cricketer of the Week performance.

2. Yashasvi Jaiswal - 276 - Not many weeks you score a double century in a Test and don't end up in top spot but Jaiswal has certainly caught the eye in his first forays in the Indian Test side.

3. James Vince - 231 - Vince is making an absolute killing in the UAE. 231 points from three T20s is impressive form whatever competition you are playing in.

4. Shubman Gill - 218 - Doubled his overall score in one week as Gill shook off his malaise with a century against England. Moves up from 20th to 14th on the Overall list.

5. Jos Buttler - 212 - Finished his SA20 with another two impressive T20 scores. Only Babar Azam has more T20 points than Buttler so far this year.

Overall Top 5

1. Babar Azam - 893 - Two identical scores of 47 at a Strike Rate above 100 but below 150 saw Azam score a moderate 134 for the week. He holds on to his first place spot for the second week.

2. Jos Buttler - 798 - Moves up a spot as he finishes his spell in South Africa. Genuinely hard to see where he plays any cricket until the IPL in late March though.

3. James Vince - 755 - Refuses to be under estimated. Moves up a place and has the second largest gap on the person below him of anyone on the List. Genuinely a force to be reckoned with in amongst our superstars.

4. Yashasvi Jaiswal - 651 - A Test double century against England is quite a classy way to move back into the Top 5. Will be inactive next week before the Third Test.

5. Chamari Athapaththu - 629 - A second inactive week and Chamari is dropping like a stone.

Other Movers

Moeen Ali finished sixth for the week but still manages to move up two places to 12th.

Top 3 Average Points per Active Week

1. Jos Buttler - 199.5 (Up from 195.33)
2. Babar Azam - 178.6 (Down from 189.75)
3. Yashasvi Jaiswal - 162.75 (Up from 125)

Two very differing fates for our two Kiwis. Daryl Mitchell moves down 47 points on his average - and now has 149. Ravindra's mahoosive score sees his average swell from 23 points a week to 152.67. Having started the week with the highest and lowest averages they are now 6th and 7th.
