Ravindra Jadeja - The Best Cricketer of the Week (again)

Weekly Update

1. Ravindra Jadeja - 336 - Just keeps getting better and better. Only his third active week but he keeps improving and his average is now a lofty 315.33 points per week. All three og his scores so far this year have been in the top 44% of all scores registered in the last 5 years

2. Harry Brook - 233 - Should feel well hard-done-by for not getting his inaugural Cricketer of the Week accolade...however one feels that it might just be a week's deferral. Surprisingly, still only 13th on the Overall list.

3. Rashid Khan - 195 - For the second successive week, Rashid turns out for two different teams; starting off with Afghanistan before joining up with the Lahore Qalandars. He's registering just 85.25 points a week but has played every week so is on the grind.

4. Babar Azam - 134 - You can always rely on Babar to put on one decent score a week - this time it was the 75* in the loss to Islamabad. Up a place to 12th overall.

=5 Devon Conway - 107 - A decent score in the first dig against England was followed up by just 2 runs in the second. Is not showing the consistency he showed last year but still manages a joint 5th place spot.

=5. Usman Khawaja - 107 - 83 runs split (fairly unevenly) across two innings for Uzzy. Hard to tell if he has proved to his critics that he can play in the sub-continent, but he has two more matches to prove that...or not.

Overall

1. Shubman Gill - 1179 - Gill was so strong in the first few weeks of the year that he can take a month off and still have a 40 point lead at the top of the table. Rumour has it, he might be back next week to continue his reign of terror.

2. Jos Buttler - 1139 - Inactive this week but will have had 2 ODIs under his belt by next week's update. Could be anywhere in the Top 5 by that time.

3. Shakib Al Hasan - 1005 - After his solitary game for Peshawar Zalmi, Shakib had to depart for a family emergency in America. I am unsure what this means for his inclusion in the BAN v ENG series.

4. Ravindra Jadeja - 946 - Jadeja leaps into the Top 5 with a hop skip and a jump. Was 12th before the IND v AUS, jumped to 9th after the First Test and is now in fourth. Jadeja averages 315.33 a week and is 233 from top spot. Makes ya think.

5. Devon Conway - 901 - An OK-ish performance in the first Test against England combined with a tied weekly score with Usman Khawaja and an inactive week from Hardik Pandya sees Conway down just 1 place and just abotu holding on to his Top 5 berth.

Ones To Watch

Two players playing in the Longer form, one domestically, the other internationally, Janen and Khawaja have just 4 points between them in 7th and 8th. He will impressive more this week?

Top 3 Averages

1. Ravindra Jadeja - 315.33 (Up from 305)
2. Shubman Gill - 235.8
3. Jos Buttler 227.8

Devon Conway is down 8.63 this week and is the biggest loser - however still manages 150.17 points a week. Harry Brook's bumper score boosts him to 124 - 36.33 points of improvement.

Ravindra Jadeja - The Best Cricketer of the Week

More active cricketers this week - but only a handful of big scores. the average score this week was a mere 85 points.

Weekly Update

1. Ravindra Jadeja - 320 - Only played in 2 game weeks of this year but has got over 250 points in each outing. This week was impressive for its all-round dominance. Moves up 3 places to ninth on the overall List.

2. Moeen Ali - 146 - Moeen has really upped his franchise game of late. Over the last 2 months he played in the International League T20 either side of the England v South Africa games. He was then parachuted into the BPL to help Comilla lift the title.

3. Babar Azam - 117 - PSL 2023 sees Azam play for a different franchise however will be a huge points booster for the Pakistan captain. That being said, despite the third highest score of the week, he still stays 13th overall - 85 points from Curran in 12th.

4. Rashid Khan - 83 - Had one of those weeks where you feel like his points should have been higher. A pair of braces for Rashid was not backed up by any other points - even from economy points, traditionally one of his strong suits.

5. Pat Cummins - 77 - A disappointing start to the IND v AUS series but he was the standout contributor of the three Aussies we have.

Overall Update

Not much to report here really. 4 out of our Top 5 were inactive with Shakib Al Hasan being the only cricketer to feature. His 51 points him 134 points off Buttler in second and 211 away from Conway in 4th.

Shubman Gill 1179
Jos Buttler 1139
Shakib Al Hasan 1005
Devon Conway 794
Hardik Pandya 793

Other Movers

Marco Jansen makes it two weeks in a row where he doesn't perform hugely well but still moves up. This week it is 33 points in the SA20 final that sees him up to 6th.

Top 3 Averages

1. Ravindra Jadeja - 305
2. Shubman Gill
3. Jos Buttler 227.8

Moeen Ali is this week's most improved average as he goes up by 13 and a quarter points to 93 points a week. Usman Khawaja's bubble bursts as he leaks 31 points on his average and is down to 130 a week.

Jos Buttler - The Best Cricketer of the Week (again)

Despite all the cricket that is happening right now, we have only had enough completed games for a Top Three this week.

This Week

1. Jos Buttler - 203 - Buttler had to wait 5 years between his last Cricketer of the Week and last week's crown...he had to wait 7 days for his second of the year. He has as many in the 6 weeks of 2023 as he did in the whole of 2018. In sublime touch.

2. Rashid Khan - 148 - At this point I am uncertain if Rashid Khan actually has a home or whether he lives from hotel to hotel. Started the week in Cape Town and has finished it in the Emirates. 3 games in two continents and 148 points to claim for it all.

3. Harry Brook - 137 - A very 'Baz-Ball-Esque' style warm-up as he got 97 at better than a run a ball to boost himself up to 14th place in the overall table - now for the real Tests.

Overall

1. Shubman Gill - 1179 - First inactive week for Gill and he manages to just about keep top spot will get some Test points this week from Ind vs Aus so might continue his run at the top which already stands at a month.

2. Jos Buttler - 1139 - His second successive Cricketer of the Week wasn't quite enough to see him ease into the top spot - and with his Paarl team out of the SA20 he now faces 20 days out of the game.

3. Shakib Al Hasan - 954 - An underwhelming couple of games in the seemingly unending BPL 2023 should count himself lucky that nobody immediately below him was active this week.

4. Devon Conway - 794 - His first of two inactive weeks before the NZ v ENG Tests. He manages to hold on to his fourth place berth.

5. Hardik Pandya - 793 - Manages to hold 5th place despite being inactive. That 149 point cushion is proving very handy.

Other Movers

Only 46 points for Maro Jansen this week but manages (somehow) to overtake Suryakumar Yadav into 7th place.

Top 3 Averages

1. Shubman Gill - 235.8
2. Jos Buttler 227.8 (Down from 234)
3. Shakib Al Hasan - 190.8 (Down from 214)

Early days for the averages but genuinely impressive that Shakib can leak 23.2 points and still be in the top 3. Brook goes in the other direction and adds 24.67 to his average - remember he did score 0 in his debut week which will always help the improvement of that average.

Phil Salt - The Best Cricketer of the Week

Weekly Top 5 1. Phil Salt - 197 - If Salt played in the Carribean every week he might put on Lara like figures. He finishes in first place...
